  • Fans of the #Lexus brand have been waiting a long-time for the company to introduce an electric SUV and it finally arrives for 2023 as the #LexusRZ450e! This #RZ450e is about the same size as the #LexusRX, however it shares a platform with the #ToyotabZ4X and #SubaruSolterra. The #LexusRZ offers up to 220 miles of range and standard #Direct4 AWD from its dual motor powertrain.

    Happy Monday everyone! It’s an early start but we have another video posting at 9am EST today as well! If you guys have been waiting for an electric version of your Lexus RX, the wait is finally over! Just be sure that you don’t need to take too many long road trips or use your old Lexus or borrow one of the loaner vehicles from your dealership to do that 😅

      I really hope you spoke to the representatives during the launch and told them 220/196 mile range is not only uncompetitive, but unacceptable for the price they are asking for. With Battery degradation and climate further impacting the range, this isn’t an appeal alternative to anything in this price range.

      But wait,
      If your going on a long road trip you can contact Lexus for a internal combustion engine vehicle. Lexus just proved electric is not even close to actually being ready, and is as they just proved, a nuisance. Low range, slow charge nuisance. Not to mention the harm to the environment they are partaking in. But don’t worry, once this brain dead administration is out of office, electric will slow right down.

    • @Justmejbful
      @Justmejbful ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The comparison is with a Genesis, not a Kia or Hyundai. The Koreans always offers more for less. Toyota and Lexus is more reliable. The charging is slower because they are guaranteeing 90% battery life after 10 years. Faster charging kills batteries. Toyota is really not in the EV game fully yet...this is just the start. The Koreans are way ahead but I wouldn't buy one yet.

    • @NeoTechOps
      @NeoTechOps ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Justmejbful Still, all though I could afford the GV60 I chose to buy an EV6... Again brand name is meaning less now a days and Toyota/Lexus needs to realize this. It's relative. I'm sure some people get a rise of having the luxury brand name, but to me it doesn't matter if the less expensive vehicle has all the same features, I could live without the GV60's crystal shifter and slight bump in power (especially since it takes a fairly substantial range hit).
      On the topic of charge speed and how long the battery will last... Toyota/Lexus can make all the claims they want on longevity, but what really matters is the warranty. One single battery cell can go bad in the back and the whole thing needs replacing. Toyota doesn't build their own battery, they get it from Panasonic (I believe), so you have to have faith in that companys manufacturing being good enough to last the life of the car, if not you hope the manufacturer warranty covers it.
      To any extent, Lexus/Toyota are selling these under competitive vehicles as beta products to consumers to see what works, breaks and fails. All brands do this, but Toyota happened to be so far behind the pack, even though they excel at hybrids that it just doesn't make sense that they would release such a poor shot into the market.

    IMO, real world should mean something different for electric. If you only drive city, it doesn't matter as much the total range as you could theoretically charge at home every night. Real world to me for electric is when you need to drive 75-85mph (texas- Austin to Dallas 220 miles). This speed kills the range in the Lightning (different type of car, I know), and at 196 for RZ, you may even have to stop twice just to make it. Cruise control at 80mph and this may not even do 100 miles before you get range anxiety and need to charge.

Don't like the slower charging speed. I don't think I am going to be an electric car buyer until I see at least a 300 mile range (regardless if I am using heat, AC, or nothing) within the 10 to 80% (usable) range and be able to charge at home on a level two charging station over night (in less than 9 hours). That's what I think electric cars need to do before people are going to make an electric car their ONLY CAR! And lastly, the national infrastructure for charging needs to get a LOT better.

    I think the car is superb. I disagree with Sofyan about the dash needing stitching. This car has a jetcraft like dash and stitching would be out of place. I feel like the interior is like a sustainable private jet. The dash is one of the best Ii've seen because the screen doesn't look placed on or tacked on. It's integrated without it taking over the dash. I love the radiant heat. The steer by wire looks well done. The interior materials are sustainable in an EV. The acceleration is excellent, well more than adequate. I love the styling. I just think it's an excellent car. I'm not that big on range as a selling point of an EV. I look at whatever I look at with any other car(quality, refinement, drive, comfort, NVH levels, brake and steering feel, build quality and solidity) and hope it has usable range. It needs to be charged from a home. If you can't charge it from home, it's not the car for you. This is a much better car than the bZ4X which doesn't have as successful styling. I think this car's price is also right.
