    I definitely recommend changing your gearing. I’d imagine you now have a 44t sprocket. I noticed a huge change in wheelies, 44t sprocket makes it really hard to not chase wheelies. Makes it hard to wheelie going slow. I went back to stock 49t and my wheelies were good again. Learned to scrape the week after switch back to 49t sprocket.

      i have been on 13 48 and i have just changed to 14 48 today so i will see how it feels on the next ride! want something a bit more usable on the roads but also stunt focused, i had a lot of people tell me 14-44/45 so will try with 14-48

      @@gringostyl yeah most people stay stock gearing so you can go slower and have a bigger balance point. It’s a race bike they’re built for high rpm’s. Do your valves and oil then you’re fine🤷

    I got an mt09 and ive got the wheelie obsession like you, loop fear is real tho🤣would love to see you transfer what youve learnt on supermoto to a bigger bike 👍

    • @gringostyl
      @gringostyl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha good! And the loop fear will go away when you build trust in the footbrake, but an mt09 definikty isn’t the best bike to learn in haha better to get a cheap dirt bike 250/450 and learn on,
      I have some test rides on 2022 bikes coming up but won’t be wheelying them LOL I do have plans to get myself a mt09 as a second bike during the winter so we shall see… it’s between that and the mt07, if I get the 07 I will put pro tapers on it and do a soft stunt setup, but really got my eyes on the 09

      @@gringostyl yeah i did debate getting one to learn on but i ended up opting for full stunt cage and 12 bar on the back of MT09 so if i drop it she will survive the fall, only costs about 400 for full protective cage. Keep up the videos bud! Hopefully see you busting out a coaster on an mt09 next year😂

    I’ve purchased a 450R 2008 with a street ready conversion from official Honda Italy, came with a sumo set of wheels. I am ordering tail lights, blinkers, horns, etc as the previous owner used it for the woods and tore them up.
    That being said I am very excited to register and ride on the road and to the woods myself, but also do longer rides on asphalt. I’ve read that the 450R can be problematic. You need longer gears, but I’ll just ride slower in lower rpms. The oil capacity is a problem due to the breather house on longer rides. Finally people change to stainless steel valves.
    May I ask you have you had any issues with the oil capacity? Have you changed valves or just keep checking every 50hrs regarless? How is the gearing for you?

    • @gringostyl
      @gringostyl  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had no problems with this bike at all, I got the valves checked and adjusted at 50hrs, never had a problem with oil I just changed oil every 10 hours but depending on how you ride you could stretch 20-25 hours probably
      I rarely red lined the bike cause I mainly used it for learning wheelies
      The next owner red lined it everywhere and the piston seized after a couple months lol
      The engines are designed to take a beating, so if you don’t beat it up they can last a long time as long as they are maintained and taken care of
      If you want a mix of street and hooligan riding then a good sprocket setup is 14-44

      It depends! If you want to push further with the wheelies then I 10000% recommend it’s sooo much better but if you don’t really care about pushing further with them and like ripping about everywhere then keep the smcr👊

    • @gringostyl
      @gringostyl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If your stunt riding or just cruising you should be fine, as long as you are checking your valves every 50ish hours your good! And doing oil every 10
      Until there is clear signs that you need a new piston you should be sweet
      (All of this is what I have been told from sm stunt riders so I’m not too experienced myself but it all makes sense really, I have just done my first valve check but couldn’t get to replace the shims so taking it to the shop to watch the guy do it so I know for next time…)
