Same bro I was watching motovids on TikTok when I saw a guy using this to tow his Ninja400 lol I immediately went to google to see if this was foreal and then straight to TH-cam to watch this gem of a video lol good luck on getting your bike man, ride safe, have fun and ride for me too! I’m looking to get mine in about a month or so🤙🏾
If you have a low bike be careful. I hit the bottom of my Aprilia and broke fairing stay. Put a 4" wedge under gate to reduce angle. Longer gate or optional ramps would be nice. Optional 2 bike trailer would be cool too. Otherwise this is a great trailer for a sweet rental price. Wish i could buy one.
Do not ride an Indian Scout Bobber or any bike that sits really low onto this ramp. The corrugated steel floor will catch the front lower engine casing. I just learned this the hard way. I had no help loading my Bobber and wound up cutting two groves into a small lip that sits in front of of the engine casing. 🙁
Guys, there is a YT vlogger with (as listed) 96,000 subscribers that rented a U-Haul M/C trailer , he has BMW m/c...says because the rear gate is so short there is a step angle , bike bottomed out when his front wheel crossed over the top and put a hole in his oil pan. Can this be a concern on some m/c's and how would you know if your bike would bottom out ? I noticed on this video the bike you use comes close to the trailer .
Hello Mike, thanks for your post and we appreciate your feedback. If this is a concern, we would recommend stopping by one of our local centers to inspect prior to reserving & dispatching. ^AA
Never tie down a motorcycle using the front forks or wheel assembly as anchor points. Always tie down from the frame. Ensure brake lines, cables or electrical wiring harness are clear of straps..
It's completely fine to tie down using the front forks and is actually the OEM recommended tie down point for some motorcycles, such as my BMW R1200RT.
When I bought my first motorcycle, a used vstar1100, it didn't pass on this ramp needed 1 inch longer. Now, I am watching the Goldwing and don't want to know about it because this is much heavier and expensive. I need a piece of wood.
I tried to rent a motorcycle trailer to haul a bike from one town to the next town over, but apparently they have to be returned to the original facility. So instead I'm stuck using a flatbed trailer. Obviously not as safe, or secure. Why is it that your motorcycle trailers are for in town use only?
U-Haul has two types of motorcycle trailers. A heavy duty style that is inter-city and a lighter duty, same city motorcycle trailer. The inter-city isn't always available, but is really handy for one way rentals.
First, buy a generator shovel and hardtail that SOB. Epic beard? You know it. Equally epic ride into the sunset? Just gotta get trailer this old girl the right road. I used this exact type of trailer 6 times in the past and it was very easy to use.
I've search all over your website and can't find anything on it. Considering there are multiple hitch ball sizes, I would think this is important information to have in the trailer description. I don't want to show up with the wrong size hitch ball...
Our trailers accept hitch ball sizes from 1 7/8 inches to 2 inches. More information can found at the following link spr.ly/6058B20E2 under Towing equipment requirements-->Hitch Balls. ^MPM
U-Haul designs their own trailers for durability and runs them for years. They don't sell them because they don't retire the trailers until they're unsafe, and selling an unsafe trailer would be a big liability issue.
Why does everybody have their hypothetical panties all wet for this trailer? 😂 Just buy a cheap regular utility trailer (offerup, Craigslist, etc.) and install the Lock n Load BK1000 system or two. Or maybe just a regular motorcycle chock from harbor freight 🤷🏽♂️ Then visit a welding shop to have them custom make you a 6-7ft rear gate/ramp. Done deal. This trailer seems to have about a 3ft ramp and it’s not even close to being enough to provide clearance for a lot of motorcycles. Another suggestion...I had a tilting utility trailer a while back. It had a spring loaded pin that you can move back, tilt the trailer body up, drive the quad or bike up onto the trailer (which essentially becomes a ramp) and when you reach more than halfway towards the front of the trailer it would tilt down with the weight and automatically re-lock with the spring loaded pin. Here is a link to what I’m talking about, except the trailer here doesn’t have a spring loaded pin... th-cam.com/video/kYpQSHDNIQY/w-d-xo.html You can install a motorcycle wheel chock or the BK1000 system I mentioned earlier. Hope this helps anyone and everyone! 👍🏼
I know why the floor is designed that way which is great after the bike is onboard, but if I am loading my bike alone I wonder if the ribbed floor could cause a balance issue. Especially on a 800 lb bike like mine
Hello 2phalanges, the rate for an in town rental of the 5x9 utility ramp trailer is $24.95 plus tax. You can also add Safetow coverage for as little as $8 for $5000 worth of coverage. Hope this helps! Thanks for using U-Haul. ^KIS
one more question, can i rent a vehicle in my city and drive it to another city 2 hours away and leave it at that uhaul's branch instead of bringing back to the branch that i rented it from? and if yes will there be a fee?
If available yes, we do offer equipment that does go one-way. I do suggest reaching out to our Sales and Reservations department at 800-468-4285 or by checking availability on uhaul.com for the one-way rates we offer. ^VU
It’s all good. We got my dad’s Goldwing loaded and brought to my house and sold. Just couldn’t ride it because the brakes had to be bled. Bad thing is mine is immobile because it sat so long and I have a pull behind Escalade trailer too we need to get. Life happens and health gets in the way.
Is it possible for one person to push a 550lb bike onto this trailer? I'm 6'2 and decently strong. Obviously you would recommend 2, but is it impossible for one person to do it?

Those strap hooks will come unhooked! Put electrical tape around the hook to keep the hook from falling off. You will pay the price if you do not believe me.
If your bike fell over multiple times with using the U-Haul trailer, then you, 1- didn't strap it down properly. 2- and/or you also didn't check and adjust the strap tension during your trip. 3- didn't use proper straps or strapping/tie down technique. I've used U-Haul motorcycle trailers for years with zero trailer problems.
quick tip. Put some cloth between the straps and the bike. You will always get friction between them causing damage.
Thanks for sharing the quick tip! :) ^AA

Thanks 👍🏽
Yes. I had a strap scrstch up my bicycle that was attached the thd wall. I will be renting one of these to transport my big Harley from Texas to ND.
I had no idea uhaul had these. I'm planning on buying my first bike soon and this'll be perfect since nobody likes to ship them anymore. Thanks!

Thank you for this sound video. Any tips on unloading a motorcycle from the U-Haul RT trailer? Thank you.

super cool video, great editing and shooting!
Ah c’mon show the drive onto the trailer 😄
