    Another enjoyable video build. Your honesty about the kit is refreshing as you are not schilling for any of your builds I don’t see any of your comments as negative but simply as a heads up if you buy this kit. And your solutions to fix the short comings are more than helpful.
    Thank you for advancing modeling

    A knock shop above a pool hall. Sounds like a song from a Heinlein novel. The fuel oil tank on the wall is a nice touch.

    Oh, you have to carve out the windows, so that people can see inside the bordello! :D

      I am sure there are some suitable Noch or Preiser figures for that. The kit is designed for the roof to be removable if you want to build an interior.

    I noticed in building this kit you used white glue and when you built the Zane's Mercantile you used five minute epoxy. Which do you recommend? Great Video I always like your painting and weathering techniques.

      Thanks for the comments. That is going to be a lot of personal preference. The advantage of 5-minute epoxy is that it cures in 5 minutes, but it is messy and I hate the smell. I think epoxy does not penetrate the plaster and particularly the dust as well as white glue, so the bond is weaker with epoxy - especially if the pieces are dusty. However, there have been times when I have had to break apart the pieces and re-glue them. I was able to do that with epoxy I think because it does not penetrate the plaster as much. But even with white glue, the bonds seem to be somewhat breakable. I will probably use white glue the next time I have a plaster building.

    This turned out very nice, I especially like your "weathering" techniques! What year "circa" is your layout?

      Thanks for the comments. I am glad you are enjoying the videos and finding them helpful. My layout is a fantasy/freelance of whatever I am in the mood for. Originally, it was going to be present day with lots of dilapidated and abandoned buildings, but it is also inspired by the 1970s rust belt bankrupt railroads. I have more Chessie System locos than any others. When I first planned it, I was not aware of Fine Scale Miniatures and some of the other kits. Once I discovered those, I had to fit them in. So I don't really care about accuracy. I just want it to be interesting.

    Another great build video. This kit has some charm to it for sure but wow you sure did have some issues with it. I am not impressed with it for that price really. Your paint and weathering along with your corrective measures really saved it and made it look great. Thanks for sharing, Rob

    I'd like to see you assemble, paint, and weather a N scale kit. It might be inspirational to us out here with big thumbs. I'd provide the kit!

      Well thanks, but not anytime soon. I spent most of my modeling life doing 1/35th scale armor, so even HO scale seems small for me. But you never know.

      @@asdasx392 i like the looks of the kit it would be. Anice change. But i cant get past the poor fit and asking $200. Ill buy downtown deco. Their kits are perfect fit. Have you ever tried one? Btw love your videos. Great work and love the honesty. Dont confuse that with positive or negative.....thanks. if i was the owner of that company, id figure out what happened and send you a new kit. Most of these folks want to do right by their customers. Especially since he is trying to sell his business.

    Doesn't seem like this kit should be worth 200 dollars maybe 150 but you made it look amazing and if you painted it it should be worth 400 nice vid thanks!

    • @asdasx392
      @asdasx392  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the kind words. Not counting the missized wall pieces, it is kind of a high end kit, so I can see the reason for the price point even if the video came off a little negative. There are a lot of castings and they are mostly excellent carvings. The roof stock is a special type of textured card stock and is already pre-cut. The printed windows are very nice and the other windows have the correct pane size printed on them so you don't have to measure. Wooden stairs really would have helped. Definitely $150 would be a better deal but I can see $200 being reasonable. It seems to be the only kit of its kind from this company.
