Can you help me with a issue; my motor was leaking gas out the back when I was using it and I also noticed when I tried to go full throttle it maybe went for about 10 seconds and then started to loose it and try to shut off or shut off completely
The serial number is located on a metal tag on the motor’s mounting bracket. My 15 hp shows model BF15D on this tag as well as a serial # starting with BALJ- and a string of #s. I don’t believe the year is integrated with serial #.
I have a 15hp with electric start automatic carburetor, I use this boat exclusively for trolling, I can’t get my boat to troll less than 3mph, if I turn my idle down, will it help reduce my speed when the transmission is engaged? Thank you for your help!
I have a 15 on a 21’ Hudson Bay Freighter, the slowest I can get mine is 3mph, I’m hoping that reducing my idle speed will help reduce my trolling speed...thoughts?
@@nealsleeper5586 I just bought a 15 Honda and its factory idle is set low I'm trolling at like 1.7 in a 14ft deep v I just sold my Honda 10 I had it set at 2.5 caught alot of fish but I think I'm going to keep my idle were it is always wanted to have the ability to troll that slow I think 3 is to fast
@@nealsleeper5586 I can adjust pretty easy with the lick down on the throttle but 3 is fast I like to crank the throttle up to 3 4 ti get a reaction from following fish but wouldnt like to troll that fast
i think its posted on the side sticker 900 +/- 50 rpm is usually the stock setting. I have a little hour meter on mine that also shows the rpm. Same unit i use on my mowers and jet skis for maintenance records.
@@mattstencel4302 Been so long since I had this boat, sold it to an alcoholic who later sunk it. I serviced it with oul, plugs and filter. The engine was the best bit of the boat.
Thank u so much. I just picked you a 9.9 and could not find the idle screw and now I know how to drain the gas as well. Thanks
great!
Thanks; it's in the same place on my Honda BF10 outboard. This fixed my problem where it would sometimes stall when idle :)
Good vid. Thanks.
Rather than drain gas using screw, disconnect the fuel line at the engine and allow it to run all the gas out.
Thanks for the good advice!
yes but there will still be some gas left in the carburetor you still need to use the screw to drain it all out
@@FamasFTW98 just use ethanol free gas ... premium 91 is usually ethanol free and will state it. Havent had any issues with carbs over winter.

Great video.
What year motor is this? It looks exactly like mine, but I can’t find any serial number or date sticker anywhere.

Yes it will

How long and wide is your boat. I have 1436 G3
15 feet long, beam 68”, transom width 59”
That's a really wide boat esp for 15ft
Ya I like it, works well for me for 17 years. No leaks and runs well
How slow you get that thing to idle for trolling

Anyone know what the factory rpm setting is? Mine bounces between 810 and 830 840 rpm for 15hp honda.

thank you :-)
Will this stop mine stalling as soon as I put it into gear, very annoying 😏
This will help, stalling when in gear might need to clean the carburetor or get the motor warm up a few more mins will help too
Did you ever fix this issue? I have the same issue with mine right now

Will this work on a BF75 ?
Hi, sorry unfortunately I don't know if the BF75 is similar to BF15.

Thanks a lot for the reply
@@trippdantzler It does on the 7.5 hp. The idle screw is in a different location but looks and works the same.
@@bebe0928 is the bf75 carb ? should be EFI at that size.
