tick, tick…BOOM! debuted at the Jane Street Theatre in May of 2001, starring Raul Esparza (Law & Order: SVU, Hannibal, multiple Tony Nominee), Amy Spanger (The Wedding Singer, Rock of Ages), and Jerry Dixon (If/Then). The musical won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off Broadway Musical, and Esparza won an Obie Award for his performance as Jonathan.
Jonathan is a struggling composer living in Lower Manhattan. His girlfriend Susan wants to get married and move to the suburbs. His best friend Michael has given up the arts and become an executive with a new luxury apartment uptown. Approaching his 30th birthday, Jonathan begins to question whether he can continue to wait tables while following his dream of writing a Great American Musical.
Semi-autobiographical musical based on Jonathan Larson, composer of RENT, who died of an aortic aneurysm the day before his ground-breaking musical debuted Off-Broadway in 1996.

Before this, I haven’t watched the bootleg for this show. Now that I’ve seen it, I really love Jon’s and Susan’s relationship. It’s sweet, and they both want to pursue their passions but want the other person to be happy. You can really see that they care for each other, and both actors portray that beautifully❤️
