I find to be funny how some guys think they are machine-like musicians, yes it does get sloppy sometimes but thats part of the magic, love to hear each of the instruments separately. Thanks for the video dude!
I know it's a year later, but I want to know what the Hell you"re talking about. I've got years of experience driving consoles in live and studio settings, and even if I didn't know this was Steve Harris, I would still be happy to put it in the mix. It's not like the bass was recorded first for everything else to follow... this track is obviously being played over guitars and at minimum a clicktrack in Steve's headphones. The way the bass is played is right at home with evrrything else going on in the song.
Is it me or does Steve use the same root note for all his baselines, hearing them like this they sound real similar overall, either way Steve Harris is a bass master
Who know how to set the bass like him? So that you can play so soft and hitting the neck so easily? I've tried many times to set my basses the lowest as possible, but it never had the same sound...
One gets a little tired of hearing how "sloppy" Steve Harris' bass playing is. "Sloppy" implies that the guy is trying to play "properly" (whatever the hell that is supposed to be) but just can't manage it. He sets up his bass a particular way and plays with his particular technique to produce exactly the sound that he ends up getting. He has stated on many occasions the importance of his bass sound in the overall song mix. If he wanted to play like some Juilliard jack-a-napes he surely could and would. He made his own sound and seems to have done rather well for himself with it.
@@Eastlight3D i know i'm late to the party but yeah , youtert is just a moron. running 200 watt klipsch promedia 2.1's myself and the low end is phenominal on them considering the lowest note on a standard 4 string bass guitar is only 41 hz. most cheap sub systems only fire the woofer at 30 hz or lower hence the term sub (my set fires the woofer at any sound below 80 hz {the upper mid range of a bass guitar} ). thing is a bass guitar's notes and range doesn't actually line up with a stand up bass's (the instrument that bass guitar replaced in modern music ). a bass guitar's notes actually line up with a low-mid cello. making it a not-quite-"sub" bass instrument. as far as stringed instruments go its more mid ended , just in modern music it is the lowest tuned instrument used so you got to get really good speaker set to for it to fire the woofer off.

What a killer tone. It allows him to play those power chords that fatten up the rhythm section without getting muddy.
Incredible how Steve’s mind works. Somewhat simple bass line to create such an epic song.
Up the Irons!

Standar E minor and E C D chords progresion
Most old is Maiden E D C
Hey man, do you have the isolated keyboard tracks from maiden? I would love to hear them and use it on my cover band! Thank you!

Guitar or rockband isolated track as part of the game's programming.
