Petition to not have another expidition without Torfi.
Came here to say something very similar! Torvi is my favorite!!
seconded
Agreed 100%
Agree. Let’s find him an American wife so he can become a citizen. We need more great people like him.
whats his tube channel please - cheers mate
Torfi is ridiculously resourceful. If you had he and Kurt together, they could probably fabricate a Tacoma out of a few tin cans and some yarn!
Watching this series make me think that the Hilux and Fortuner we build here in SA are tougher than the American build Toyotas plus the Japanese build Land Cruisers which are very tough for our conditions just looking at the troubles you encounter. Just an observation but you guys put a top notch series together, I really like it and always looking forward to your next episode
I'm from botswana living in canada, I agree with you on that one, I never stop thinking of how tough cruisers are whenever I watch their series
I can’t comment on the engineering on these trucks, however parts break etc after thousands of km on corrugated roads with heavy trucks. For me the the bigger issue is the pitfall of using vehicles that are not sold in the region and the lack of spares and local knowledge. Would be the same if I took my 70 series to USA where they have never been sold.
Am still waiting for a Universal vehicle, and there isn't any so far,...
@@beezwax10 true. Perhaps the Grenadier will become this. Sold in US, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Middle East, Africa and ANZ at the moment. Pretty sure South America and India will follow.
I've been thinking the same since I saw the troubles that they were having with the vehicles in Botswana. I have watched a lot of Overlanding vehicles with SA guys and I haven't seen so many mechanical issues.
You guys belong here in Africa, the way you showed the spirit of humanity (Ubuntu) by helping the other 2 cars that were stuck along the road is amazing and I wish mother Africa could be kind to your vehicles,
Your words at the end of the football match filming were spot on. Watching different walks of life all enjoying a simple game there .is still hope for mankind!
What an epic series, and two episodes a week....
Thank you XO Team 👍🏻
Awesome video as always XO Crew. This has been an epic series never disappoints full of amazing and unique and epic scenery and landscape. Thanks for letting us ride along with y’all on y’all’s adventures.
Peter's dad from Epic Family Road Trip encouraged us to view your channel, especially during the making of this African series and I must say --- I ABSOLUTELY LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS AFRICAN EXPEDITION!!!! I can't wait to watch each episode. Thank you for taking and sharing this journey with us.
Man having a guy like Torfi (and Doctor John) in your party is so invaluable.... Torfi is a wizard with mechanics, I love seeing people who are experts in their craft, whether it be mechanic, carpentry, electrical, it's just awesome to see someone so proficient in a specific trade.
"If you have one friend, you have half the world."
When I travelled Australia as a kid with my Dad, he always got under the vehicle at the end of each day to check the condition of the vehicle and trailer and even running a spanner around nuts and bolts for tightness. This is something I continue to do, though I lack consistence when all is going well. I bet a lot was learn from this trip.
Epic series ... cannot get enough! Your series is like no other ... keep them coming!
Happy Easter XO Crew!!
It's pretty awesome to see you exude the spirit of Ubuntu which is abundant in this part of the world.
Torfi is a magician in beautiful Africa. You guys are sooo awesome!
Thank you! He is very talented for sure!
I have enjoyed all of you so much . Gives me the fever to do overland. Africa is beautiful.
The team work and good attitude towards each other, can't wait for you guys to come back 😊😊
Incredible episode !!!!!!!!!!!!!! loved the soccer / football game
My favorite episode so far!
Your Expedition has taught me a lesson
CBI stands for "Can't Break It" if I recall. Torfi- "Challenge accepted"
I hope they enjoy their journey in Namibia and meet lots of people.
another great upload.
28:39. Well said. The power of travel and sport bringing people together from around the globe. Amazing!
Each episode has been awesome. Great seeing how your team all worked together to solve problems and daily tasks. Photography captures the sheer beauty of your adventure.
I like the way you are always stopping to help people who are either stuck or stranded, may you be blessed. African overlanders hardly stop to help, yes I understand that carjacking is common in Africa but continue with that spirit. 😊😊
Another amazing part of your journey. I specially enjoyed this one with the football game, the nice camps and humanity to help others.
Petetion to be like Torfi fixing everything and helping everyone ❤
Torfi is the best.
I swear this is just getting better and better!
I'm heading to Namibia in 3 weeks and overloading from Victoria Falls to Cape Town, SA. I would love to have the bread recipe- can you share it? I have been loving each episode of this series- FABULOUS!
Thanks for this content. You entertained my Ester weekend..
I'm an adventure at heart. I love your channel. Our son is a Tacoma overland and guide. He hooked me on his truck camping experiences. We now own two Toyota, a Rav4 Hybrid and a 2 Gen Taco ... this has been my favorite episode due to the field fixes. I pride myself as being an outdoor wilderness cook, and I love baking bread in a Dutch oven ... what a great episode and channel 🤗
15:41 Excellent series and enthralling. A climb up to see the magnificent sunset would have been brilliant.
If you need to recharge your AC, it means you have a leak. Gas doesn’t escape if there is no leak. The system should always be pressure checked and diagnosed before any refilling
I so enjoy this. I did a similar 40 day 4x4 expedition in 2013. We had 4 x trucks each with a trailer etc.
We went from the absolute South to North of Namibia and back down again. Only off-road all the way. So many memories! Things broken and fixed, nature, people and tribes.
We also had a camera crew and satellite broadcasting vehicle. What an adventure! Nostalgic for me to watch. Wish I was there 🦾
Should post it on TH-cam...would love to see it
I did a similar trip in 2018 CT , Swakop, Ruacana, Vic falls, Gaborone, Kruger Nat Park, Swaziland, Kosibay back to CT. First big trip but I’ve done one every year since. Next month 2 months in Mozambique
So really enjoying the South Africa series as I have the others. I was wondering in anyone uses safety wire to prep rigs. Coming from an aircraft maintenance background, we used this extensively to keep nuts and screws from backing off. Also curious if the aftermarket accessories were originally installed with locktite and if so was it red or blue. I am hoping to begin my overland build in the next year, so always looking for ideas.
Idk y but the soccer game was so wholesome and made me feel happy to see a bunch of different race strangers come together for random fun. In our crazy world of bad news cycle it was refreshing to see normal people living good life and countering the narrative or something.
Happy Easter,to all
Torfi is in the house and it appears that the whole team has got its MOJO back. I was thinking Clay, that you were feeling the pressure a bit even though it was not justified but as the leader, you needed some additional support and Torfi has given you that. Great episode and well done for all your good deeds. I mentioned you guys needing locktight before but I think you need to take some guidance from the aero industry and start wire locking your bolts and nuts👍🏻 safe trip guys.
So great to see the change of pace and the enjoyment and fun coming into it. As always the visuals are top notch but as I said, so good to see the fun
Its a visual book you guys at X OVERLAND produce and its amazing. filled with passion and all of the emotions, truly a masterpice of a legacy you are shaping.
Thank you!
They should have caught that a/c leak the first time when they pulled a vacuum on the system, if done correctly the system will not hold vacuum if there is a leak
“Seems like common sense… but it took me a while to get there…” me too brother… me too
I hope that now Ryder and Eli have joined the rest of the crew for this expedition, it’s the start of a new tradition of them being a part of all the future ones 🤞🏻🤞🏻.
You guys are amazing!!! Thank you for taking me with you on all your expeditions.Places I’m dreaming about since I was a kid.God bless you all!!!
Beautiful Episode this is getting Beter all the time. Thanks
Another great episode. Well done Clay and team. What an amazing adventure and experience for your Family Clay. The memories being made are priceless and will last a life time. Happy Easter.
Great adventure love it, especially that you go into details of your repairs.
Next adventure would love to see a new Defender in the mix. Epic.
Thanks
Andrew
Watching from right here 🇳🇦
This is overlanding... enjoying the trip.
Did a road trip through Namibia last year. The roads are a challenge to car and driver to say the least. But the country is stunning and the people are amazing.
This is beautiful. ❤ The video quality and the excellent content.
been a fan of this channel since the whole team 5 season in central america, it just started when i was just searching in youtube about toyota and overlanding❤❤❤
I have had a similar issue with my 5th gen 4runner. The frameside bolt for the panhard bar has fallen out several times over the life of the vehicle. I've been quite fortunate not to have had anything catastrophic happen because on 2 occasions, I was doing some pretty difficult offroading, 4x4 low locked type situations.. I constantly maintain my vehicle, which has definitely saved me from these situations going real bad, but also shows how quickly something can happen! Proper vehicle inspections and maintenance are key to making it through the trails and even just around town. Don't get complacent!
Speaking the truth! Getting ahead of the problems is key.
Would be curious to see a video in the future of what you will change after this trip. For example, what to change to prevent the bolts coming loose. Curious if you use locknuts, nylocks or thread locker?
No way! You guys were at my uncles camp (Urban Camp). Hope you enjoyed your stay. Great food and ice cold beer. A haven in Windhoek for overlanders looking for a break from the harsh Namibia desert.
We enjoyed our stay thoroughly! Tell your uncle we said thank you! 🙏
just amazing! Keep them coming.
I had the same issue with my 2016 4runner AC upon my return from Tuk NWT. A quick patch and eventual replacement and boom all good.
Great episode as always. keep em coming!
Spotted you guys in Johannesburg on 28 March. Lovely to see the rigs in person
Fantastic series. XO, Bound For Nowhere, and Endless Family Road Trip are the best videography series out there. Thank you for the vicarious immersion and enjoyment you provide us.
Toyota World Runners is up there
Bound for Nowhere is filming a series for us right now! Thank you for being a part of the journey 🙌🏼
The truth. Their channel is amazing!
Looks like a very cool journey.
Its a great one again enjoying watching S6 Africa indeed having FiFa with the African nation cool stuff there and facing lots of challenges and overcoming them at the end of the day and being kind to help others along the journey fantastic episode indeed
Ashley!! It's me!! I'm your biggest fan. You definitely need more screen time!
Whoop :) from south africa. Enjoy guys!
Excellent show.. well documented! The fin/tube that leaks the freon can be filled (about a cm) with JB weld or what you used, and then roll the fin few times to trap the glue inside the tube and it is a permanent fix. Not sure how the Taco passengers are handling heat and humid without the air con!
This episode was epic
Sorry if I missed this! Was at my neighbors' house for an easter egg hunt!
Man that sounds awesome, it's a shame we don't celebrate Easter here in Sri Lanka 😢
Happy Easter!
@@ExpeditionOverland U too!
Loving my weekly dose of Xoverland.
Amazing high quality production.
As a suggestion
Being a less experienced videographer.
I’d love if you could show or do a video on your camera equipment used. Lens cameras drones etc.
Love your work
Cheers from Australia
Great stuff as always.
Show of hands who would have swapped that spare tire on as soon as the first plug didn't hold?
Ok....you guys are interesting and entertaining.....Keep on rolling 👈💯🌎
Happy Easter Weekend to you all at X Overland. From Justin Stark , Cape Town
I am enjoying this in windhoek 👋👋
Hi guys. You should actually trim the plug-ends flush with tyre to avoid friction with the road surface loosening the plug. Good luck.
It’s hard to pick a favorite episode so far, but this one is hard to beat! So enjoying this series! 👊
Is the Greenland expedition available to watch somewhere? Looks like an absolute blast!
Not yet!
Great to see Torfi!
Epic ,Raining here in Cape Town right now. Chilling
Snowing in NW Wyoming.
I would love to be a greenhorn on a trip with you !!!! I can cook 😊 this is the best series 💚💚thank you ....Happy Easter 🐰 from Florida
Home!!!
Torfi is the man
Will the tire hold air? I'm here for the tire saga!
Such a great series so far, I particularly liked the little bit of more technical four wheeling and the challenge of fuel on the long run. I'm curious why you guys don't put some more distance between the vehicles on the super dusty roads to give the following vehicles some cleaner air? Are you trying to stay in a tighter group for security reasons?
Both for security reasons and filming! When cameras are off, we open the convoy up when we can to avoid dust intrusion and road debris.
Where did you get that bronze vintage look lantern...... Thanks Jeff
For your bread , use baking paper on inside, this way is not going to stick to the pot
You really need to start using locktite and pen marking every bolt ,paint pen marking every bolt saves lives every race team does it .
Torfi needs to be hired and overpaid! Sponsors, you reading this?
Are they ever going to let you guys release the Greenland footage?
you could do , south africa to algeria
❤🎉 I got goosebumps seeing meet the family 🤗🎉🩷 so Exciting
At 21:45 anyone else see the face in the rock. Looks like a head leaned back looking to the upper right.
Love the adventures, love all your videos, but man does it ever seem like you guys have a lot of problems with those Toyotas and accessories. I would expect things like tiers and bearings, but hinges and loose bolts seem very odd. Thank you for the entertainment, and pass the Locktite!
Great episode, like always.
Is there any place where we can find videos about this 2018 E7 Greenland expedition you keep mentioning? I can't find anything conclusive.
If not, I'm afraid you have to do it all again just to document it properly :)
Trust us, the first trip was documented very well! No official launch date of Greenland, but you never know.
Where can one watch the E7 expedition?
🥵 Toyota quality...
Epic!!
👍👍
Been following the channel for a few months now. Great content. But how does the economics work? Your gear seems expensive but the views don't seem that high
A lot of it is sponsors so they probably don't have to pay for a lot.
@@tylaroverturf that would make sense but I would assume they don't do this a living then?
i totally get that terrain was wild however when you think those toyotas were brand new car plus well modified to according to the terrain, one more time it made me realize that they dont build cars they used to make back then.
Are you guys coming to uganda East Africa?
