    Dude, your tone sounds a lot like 1991's petrucci. You can hear from album images and words, sounds alike from the song take the time.

      @@Controversy1100 to be honest in style of playing, he has his of style. Petrucci is definitely king of alternate picking. But marco delivers all of his technique combination well which makes him unique

    That end solo is a masterpiece. Just been learning it - very difficult - and so precise. Had to watch this video at half speed to really appreciate the triplets, 16th notes, and laser precision. Bravo

    Great playing. Camera work is great because at 2.10, it shows that he uses his fingers to pick the strings as well as the plectrum, which is something I didn't know about Marco. Great stuff!

      Yep, for a good reason, his gig includes Mesa Boogie as well as Petrucci, this guys is the only guitar player I see replacing Petrucci on Dream Theater.

    As usual Marco demonstrates his mastery of melody unlike so many of his contemporaries. A song is nothing without it despite being crammed with displays of virtuosity and sonic fireworks. Only melody with hold attention like a well told story. Long words make for a boring dinner guest.

    How can I learn how to select a pick-up like Marco ? His pick-up changes and sense of tone is just too good!

      Maybe this will help you: if it is about selecting the pick up while playing, then the standard is to use the first frets to the 12th fret with the bridge.pick up, and the rest with the neck pickup. It is not set in stone, for example you may want the mellow characteristic of the neck pick on a 3 note per string scale around the 7th to 10th frets , in the end it depends on your judgement.
      if it is about selecting a new pick up to install, well... better check reviews or if you can, try them. Best of luck to you !

      The easiest way is to leave it on middle position most of the time 😎

      @@alexilaiho6441 For tapping and slower sustained notes sounds good on neck pickup. While the bridge pickup is great for palm muted riffs and works just fine for all of the above mentioned. Fast tremolo picking sounds more thicker and defined on neck but more crunchier and attacking on the bridge. In the end, its all about how you want to present your sound in your song.

    I love the sound of Elixir strings, sound is clear and defined and never had to restring them.... just that they are very STIFF and .09 feels like .10 ... I wish Santa heard my prayer that one of these days Elixirs make their strings less like electric cables.

    The intro reminds me of the wonderful album,that is "awake" and lifting shadows off a dream solo that JP completely blew my mind away. Marco, on the other hand, has stayed extremely melodic throughout his career, much more than JP. Both outstanding players, one inspired by the other.
