Congratulations, Azul. I climbed Acatenango back in November 2017, in my early 40s. I will never forget that climb. I think we stayed in the green tents at the first base camp in your video. By the time we arrived at our base camp, my heart was beating out of my chest. Watching Fuego erupt and shoot lava and ash into the air made the hike worth the effort. The next morning, our group awoke at around 4AM to climb even higher to get a better view of Fuego erupting. Unbelievable. What an experience. Climbing Acatenango and getting a glimpse of Fuego is definitely a bucket list experience. Another good hike is the overnight 27km roundtrip Volcan hike in Boquete, Panama.
Wow! I didn't even know these types of tourist hikes existed to see an active volcano. What an amazing experience. Thank you for sharing your journey!! 👍🏼 👌🏼 🌋
Awesome! I’m originally from Guatemala and I’ve climbed “Fuego”volcano. Well actually you climb the volcano adjacent. It’s an amazing experience. I hope you enjoy your visit to this amazing country. Love it! It’s not easy.
My wife is from Guatemala. We may end up retiring there. Great job on the hike. I hadn’t considered making that hike but, you have inspired me. I’m going to put that on my bucket list
Congratulations on your journey and arrival! I'm SO very happy that you saw the volcano erupt!! I had a beautiful bucket list 10 years ago. I checked off a couple of items, but discarded the rest as I know it's simply not financially feasible. I've made peace with that and now just have to buckle down to ensure that when retirement comes in a few years, I have as much saved as possible. Every $1,000 matters and I can't see how it's possible to fulfill the list AND save enough. It is what it is. I'm grateful for what I HAVE seen and done in my life.
In my late 50s, sprained my ankle recently. Has taken 4 weeks so far to get better and still healing. I estimate three more weeks. Pre-50s, a month tops to heal. Stay healthy!
Congratulations, Azul for all you do here, As a soon-to-be retiree, keeping my 401k on track after a bumpy 2022 is a high goal. I've read about investors generating up to $250k ROI in this present sinking market; any suggestions for increasing my ROI before retirement would be greatly appreciated.
I agree that there are strategies that could be put in place for solid gains regardless of economy or market condition, but such executions are usually carried out by investment experts or advisors with experience.
Your friend is not a professional, Working with a financial advisor has been a game-changer for me. They provided invaluable insights and tailored strategies that aligned perfectly with my risk tolerance and financial objectives. With their support, I've seen significant growth in my investments and gained confidence in my financial future.
My investment advisor is ''Melissa Terri Swayne’’ she's verifiable and I'm very sure you can find info about her on the internet, her qualifications speak for itself.
Thanks for this. could easily spot her website just after inputting her full name on my browser. she replied my inquiry and we scheduled a consulting session sometime tomorrow.
What an amazing adventure! I was just having a discussion about wanting to hike to Machu Pichu (1 day hike) and other hikes now since I may not be able to do them in 8-10 years. Thank you for the push! Congrats on checking this off your bucket list!!

Hit 240k today. Appreciate you for all the knowledge and nuggets you had thrown my way over the last months. Started with 24k in September 2024..
I would really love to know how much work you did put in to get to this stage

His instruction allowed me to bring up my retirement plan, resulting in an estimated 700 thousand more by the time I retire.

Appreciate the wake up call. Do the big things early - stay active but be realistic the older you get.
Great job! Will be 70 next year and have been active my whole life, hiking & biking. Life is about the joy of movement. Keep it up.

I jumped from a plane, 13,000 ft this past July at age 69. What a thrill. Bruce

Great vid.
Thanks Azul

Awesome Azul!!!! Congrats 🎊
What is the cost of a trip like this??
Good stuff, Azul! I'm going to Peru in 2025 to see "how high" I can get. Cheers!

This is exactly the kind of storytelling I’m hoping to do from 2025 as I hit retirement
Great video! I’m scared of traveling most places outside the USA.
This is what I told my wife! It took two hours to get up and four hours to get it down! Go for it, time is running out!
I’m from Guatemala, have climbed two others and would like to climb this one soon.
good advice and nice content!
Great Video 👍
Azul, can you do a video on not moving to California?
Yep, I'm 64, and even as a Coloradan, 13,000 feet is out of my league.
Why would anyone go on a hike without hiking boots??
Lake atitlan....awesome
Did anyone drop out?
Lol The kind of folk who freak over retirement are freaking over this hike. I have done many hikes and know my knees would probably give up on me
60 is young. Don't make yourself older than you are 🎉
Bro, you didn’t need to go to Guatemala to see an active volcano. There’s plenty of videos of this on TH-cam!
Were you the oldest?
Azul, if you want to hike, try Camp Pendleton, Mount M____F_____. That should put to rest this nonsense. 🤪
Agreed... those hills on Camp Pendleton were no joke with a full pack! I certainly don't miss it, Semper Fi!
I respect anyone that hikes with full packs like that. Well done and thank you for your service. 🇺🇸 Azul
@@AzulWells Thanks, Azul. My time in the Corps seems like a lifetime ago. Getting closer to time to start our second half of life! Happy New Year!
