By the end of the war britain was in so much debt for years to come it costed to much to maintain and pay 1200 men n women to man the ship. They should of turned it into a museum ship and had it in London and make money off the last battleship built by the British ever
You forgot a few things: Her main guns were completely rebuilt which made them basically brand new The loading mechanism was completely brand new The fire control system was the most advanced ever put on to a battleship She was the most accurate battleship afloat (beating the Iowa’s) She had essentially an auto aim which adjusted the turrets automatically so they would hit every time. Her armour layout was placed in a more effective layout She fired a super charged shell which hit harder than any British battleship built before it (even the Nelsons) Her AA is all radar guided Her secondaries are all autoloading which gives them a reload of about 6 seconds
So you make the Vanguard, one of the most advanced floating radar platforms built, with only the pair of T3 consumables and then give the soviet paper ships a special radar... Ok.
She's not a terrible ship. I've had fun playing her and have even had a couple of 150k damage games in her. Vanguard is a difficult ship to play, due to the fact she sees a lot of tier X ships.
Fun fact #1 - not only were Vanguard's gun form Glorious and Courageous along with other ships too e.g elevation gear and gun houses, but they were extensively renovated before instillation they were essentially as good as brand new. Fun fact #2 - The Vanguard's design and hull form not only gave her the best seaworthiness in the RN battleships but it actually gave her better seaworthiness than the US Iowa Class which could not deal with sea anything other than calm seas as well as Vanguard could - honestly google and look at photos of Iowa in rough seas compared to Vanguard in rough seas.
The are accounts of the two on joint post WW2 exercises together and Iowa had a much poorer ability to do much compared to the Vanguard especially rough seas. that being said Iowa is still a quality ship class.

I like her, major downside is her all or nothing scheme. IFHE is just too OP against that scheme. A light cruiser shouldn't do 4K salvo's every 5 or so seconds regardless of angling.
@@VayleGW IFHE will be changed soon though. Until then, my Vanguard will remain at safe distance and will only fire on these fire starters from stealth
The Vanguard has the wrong secondaries, they should be the RP10 mounts, not the 15 year older mk1 mounts off the KGV. They were built with better autoloaders, and remote radar controlled tracking and directors.
They're not called RP10's, but they basically are - WG essentially gave the rate of fire stats of the RP10 mounts (9 rpm) to all the 5.25" mounts on RN battleships. That being said, Vanguard and Conqueror do get improved versions that has considerably longer AA range (under the old AA system, the other ships had a base range of 4.5 km, while the Vanguard's had 5.2 km base range).
While the base fire rate is higher than the mk1 historically obtained it is still the same gun as on the KGV when it should have improved accuracy and effective range. The Vanguard will never be a great secondary ship but it shouldn't be artificially gimped in that area either. Although improving the AA range and not the base range is a very odd choice... It just seems that at every opportunity they have deliberately ignored the ships real strengths and then act surprised when it inevitably underperformed.
@@godalmighty83 As a secondary gun? Range is determined usually by the ship line it belongs to, not the guns themselves - hence why, for example, Roma's 152mm guns and 90mm guns share the same range as secondary guns (the same 5 km as the British 5.25" guns, in fact). That's not a slight against Vanguard, that's just how the game treats secondary guns. The improved fire control of the Vanguard's guns is represented by the increased AA range, which is only shared by the tier X battleship. And to be fair, this does make sense, as most of the RP.10's improvements were geared towards better AA performance rather than anti-ship performance.
While that's typically true there are exceptions, the massachusetts for instance which is dominating the T8s or on the other side there is the Fiji which has a shorter range than the Leander despite having the same secondary guns. It's all at the whims of WG.
I'm right there with you. I do have vanguard though, and it is a solid ship, though tricky to play. “It’s enough to dodge torpedoes and escape with minimal damage” It doesn’t matter how fast the rudder turns, if her tactical diameter is 850 meters, it means she’ll barely turn much even at full rudder shift. Quick Rudder Shift just means you can start the hardest turn it can make just a bit earlier and that doesn’t mean much when torps won’t show up far enough away. Say torpedoes appear off your starboard side , no matter how fast rudder shift is, you’re still dead. Imo, if your Turning Circle Radius is 800 or more, you’re slow to turn and will have a hard time dodging torpedoes. Hood has the same issue but at least with Hood, there are records of crew noting that she had a hard time turning in and out of port. So it makes sense for Hood in this case. Furthermore, while Iowa has decent rudder shift time, her 920 m turning circle radius is atrocious, as she historically had a turning radius of 744 m. Which is very good for her size. But yeah, let’s make good ships turn like ass for no reason.

“Well-proven high calibre guns in stock...gathering dust in storage”, or rather the British couldn’t afford researching new naval guns so they could only mount obsolete guns on a new battleship???
The naval war was obviously winding down and the battleship was obsolete at this point, why waste resources on new gun designs? The Vanguard herself almost became a carrier when the design was reviewed late on.
Ah yes, 8 knots underwater and completely unkillable for anything other than destroyers and carriers. A great class concept. Sorry, but subs just won't work
Key word almost. The British maintained a strong surface ship program whilst also building many submarines, and most importantly developing strong anti-submarine capabilities, with literally hundreds, if not over a thousand escort vessels including carriers. Germany could only do ones of those three, and after 1941 the submarine arm started to go significantly downhill
Since Warspite, Queen Elizabeth, Hood, and Vanguard all use the SAME GUN(s), shouldn't they fire the SAME SHELLS and do the SAME DAMAGE and have the SAME ARMOR PENETRATION?
Not really. Warspite, QE and Vanguard got upgraded shells, whilst Hood did not (it required modification to the internals). And Vanguard fired supercharges. Queen Elizabeth and Warspite is a fair point though. The whole HE thing is very weird

When I see Vanguard on my team, I know that we will lose...
You do know wargaming mess ship up, tends to make fake paper ship being overpower.
Wargaming = russia bias

Well isn’t that funny she costs £40
Vanguard is awful on PC, blitz is actually a monster
“Well-proven high calibre guns in stock...gathering dust in storage”, or rather the British couldn’t afford researching new naval guns so they could only mount obsolete guns on a new battleship???
No they just did not have the time to build any 16-inch guns that where planed for the Lion class .Money was not the issue.
The naval war was obviously winding down and the battleship was obsolete at this point, why waste resources on new gun designs? The Vanguard herself almost became a carrier when the design was reviewed late on.
The original plan was Vanguard along with 6 Lions. Vanguard for speed, Lions for quality
Add submarines they were a good part of naval history
they are actually working on that, but it will need (a lot of) time
Halloween was a sort of pre-beta test for subs. They’ll come, eventually.
Cool

Ah yes, 8 knots underwater and completely unkillable for anything other than destroyers and carriers. A great class concept.
Sorry, but subs just won't work
British is good at showing off there powers on battleship ,but they are not good at all, proof is the Germans U-Boats almost defeated the British
Since Warspite, Queen Elizabeth, Hood, and Vanguard all use the SAME GUN(s), shouldn't they fire the SAME SHELLS and do the SAME DAMAGE and have the SAME ARMOR PENETRATION?
richard cutts I wish but WG are a bunch of commie feckers
Not really. Warspite, QE and Vanguard got upgraded shells, whilst Hood did not (it required modification to the internals). And Vanguard fired supercharges. Queen Elizabeth and Warspite is a fair point though. The whole HE thing is very weird
Well it wasnt the same gun the vanguard have upgraded guns and better technology in the guns
Battleships in wows are total garbage.
Scot Fretwell u just suck at it.
Scot Fretwell you might not just be playing them right. When I play BBs, I have some really high damage games.
They are quite a lot harder than you would assume, and they do have issues as a class, but smart play is still rewarded with good results.
