@Ross's Piano Tutorials Yes, once all of the new Class 555 sets are delivered these ones will sadly go. I’m sure a lot of them will be preserved and bought by heritage railways, but they won’t be in service after 2025 at the latest.
@Ross's Piano Tutorials Yeah, the new Class 555s have a full-width driver’s cabin. Not sure why, but they’ve also started blocking off the front/back seats on the current Metros, citing they’re for “staff only”. Why, I have absolutely no idea.
@Ross's Piano Tutorials It seems to depend on which train set you’re on. I’ve seen some with absolutely no barriers whatsoever, then ones with them (and the driver would refuse to close the doors at a station until a person sitting there had moved away.) Weird.
Did the journey from Four Lane Ends (sometimes Benton) to Haymarket every day for two years when I lived at The University Ethel Williams Halls of Residence, now gone
I’m very happy I can get this train to the fencing club again starting on Monday! I know! It’s back again today but I always go there every Monday and Thursday evening and I only ever had to get the coaster bus twice that same Thursday evening gone. I got on it going from Gateshead and that sucked! There were road works! It couldn’t drop me off at Walkergate, I had to make quite a long walk! Getting back was better! I can only assume the earlier bus was late, thank god for me! It terminated at Newcastle and it sort of felt like I got back to Monument to get the metro train home faster than how I normally do it. Thank god somebody showed me the way to the station cuz they were going there too.
The Yellow Line should be split into two services with a transfer at South Gosforth station. Trains between South Shields and South Gosforth would be part of the Blue Line.

Thanks for documenting the full journeys on these Metrocars. It’ll be a sad day when they finally retire them in the coming years.
No problem! Best to capture them now with them only having just over a year left..

I'm loving this, it's so relaxing! ;-)
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed...
@Ross's Piano Tutorials Totally agree, although it's still quite easy to appreciate the journey on a morning or mid day, after that not so much...
