TRACK what anime we plan on reacting to in the future!
✧myanimelist.net/profile/TheRe... - บันเทิง
"For the first time in my life, I thought magic was beautiful" he said, keeping his eyes fixed on Frieren, not even once glancing at the flowers.
exactly
Magic was beautiful not for what the magic did but who had casted it ❤❤❤
beautiful detail
Nothing was meant by that, just something the anime director added.
@@JS-kb4bk you are so killjoy
I love how the show just casually revealed to us that Serie's suppressed mana state is equal to Frieren's unsuppressed mana state. Meaning her true power is likely out of this world as she's only showing us a glimpse of it. I also love how Serie calls hiding mana 24/7 an impractical skill when she does the same. Heck, I reckon she's the one who taught it to Flamme.
remember that Frieren learned to surpress her mana to be around 1/10th of her base mana. If Serie did the same, i can't imagine the amount of mana surrounding her.
@@Desgaroth We do have to remember suppressing your mana to 1/10 of its full power was only Flamme's first lesson. It's quite possible that over time (for training purposes) Frieren may had to show her master she could suppress her mana even further (to 1/20 or even 1/50). Because their whole philosophy was to trick demons as much as possible - after all, the weaker you seem the more likely that your enemies will make mistakes. Taking that into account, and the fact that Serie called Frieren relatively weak for her age, she might even be suppressing her mana to an extent we (even Frieren) can't imagine.
it's because serie is already a long enough lived mage that she can afford to suppress her mana as opposed to flamme a human and frieren which other elves call young
Well its hard to really grasp in which dimensions her mana has be compressed. We know it took Frieren decades to compress it more and more, but we dont know when Series really started it. It could be that series really realised how much of an advantage it could be to hide strenght by the time the demon king got killed. So it could only be small compressed. Considering how ancient she seems to be, i think its logical to assume that its atleast ten times the amount of Frieren.
Sadly we never knew how much Mana Kraft the monk has, would be interesting to know.
@@nikolah.8472 Also, the fact that Serie calls it a useless skill to have, may be a indication that she doesn't do it to the same extent that Frieren is able to. She know how to do it, sure, but can she do it at the same extent that Frieren can? To a point were it essentially "vanishes" (like when she used it to caught the little bird).
"The anime added a contrast in that: when Fern was upset with Frieren earlier on, when Richter asked her whether she was Frieren's student she was silent and Stark had to answer for her. After Frieren fixed her staff she realized that Frieren really cared for her and that led to her saying loud and proud to Serie that she's Frieren's student."
what Serie said: You. Become my student.
what Fern heard: How would you like to adopt another elf you'll have to babysit like she's a literal baby for hours on end
Fern: Oh hell no.
lmao
Her hands are full of Frieren's crap. Serie's would be way worse I can imagine
Serie mentions Lernen never saw the fluctuations in her mana.... we just learned from Lernen that fluctuations mean suppression of mana....
I wasn't sure if you picked up on that and cut it out of the reaction, but Serie is a BEAST. Serie is supressing her mana to a level that looks as if Frieren stopped surpressing it.
Not necessarily only Lernen. Aura said that she does not see any of the characteristic fluctuations in ones mana output that comes with suppressing it, referring to Frieren. Frieren said she's glad that a demon of her age can't tell.
Also, now we have more context. Just 80 years ago, the demon king could tell at a glance that Frieren was suppressing her mana. 80 years later, demonkind over all is none the wiser
she wasn't glad that aura couldn't tell. actually she was surprised that demons can see details about mana in depth. but was glad that like any other demon, auro is confident in her mana, in her magic like all demons.
@@onetom2222 I assume that's because the Hero Party killed the DK and his minions in the castle so the word never got out. Also, Aura was out of commission until 30 years before. Exactly what that means is not clear but I find it interesting that the demons only started becoming active/regaining their powers (which seems to be Aura's situation) just when Himmel dies. I wonder if there is some kind of connection - was Himmel's life somehow acting to suppress demonic power?
the rewatch value is high, yall remember in ep2 when frieren first(to us the viewers) cast the flower spell? eisen and heiter were like pleasantly surprised, but himmel had a different reaction. god damn.
this show is sooo well done
Serie is a tough piece of work, but her aura is immaculate. She is definitely a character I want to learn more about and see in future seasons. She is very fascinating.
Second and third season would contain decent amount of Serie)))
I like that frieren’s favorite spell is the same as flamme’s favorite.
and Serie`s also, she just doesn`t admit it)))
I think it's actually always been her favorite. That's why she uses it to show young Himmel to not be scared. Just now it has more meaning on why it's her favorite
Denken: "Don't worry Richter. I'm definitely not mad even after you called me a decrepit old man."
Also Denken: Rearranges the shelves, dumps some random stuff on the counter, refuses to actually buy anything, and leaves Richter to clean up the mess.
I love how petty these mages are.
Frieren full mana = Serie suppressed mana.
Something that I didn’t catch the first time I watched this was how we are shown/told just how much potential Fern has. We are told that all First-Class mages are very powerful in their own right and we are introduced to a mage who sees Frieren’s suppressed mana and states that it is a strong as an old mage. This guy could not tell see the “fluctuation”. Lernen, an older mage and the first to receive the title of First-Class was able to tell of her mana suppression at first glance. We can infer that this makes him more powerful/skilled than the first mage. Serie then laments that even with all his talent his short lifespan makes it a waste of time. We then learn that he cannot tell that she also suppresses her mana. When Fern meets Serie, she can tell that her mana fluctuates at first glance. She can do what Serie’s best living student could not, and Fern is not yet 20.
Frieren always reminds me of the struggles I’ve had with my autism through life. The realizations of things that happened before and I missed, the trying to build emotional intelligence from scratch, struggling to understand overly emotional people, the regret for not appreciating moments, the overly critical approach being seen as being cold or distant…either on purpose or accidentally she’s an amazing representation of the real life side of the spectrum.
I don't know if you guys already know this, but Lernen was the one who created the golems used in the 2nd test! The fact that the 'prototype' golems he made could withstand the dungeon, cast healing spells and defend against Sense is a testament to his power.
If you look at everything Serie says in this episode you can see you should never analyze the mean things she says at face value. She said she’s disappointed and shouldn’t take more human students, but then immediately asks Fern if she wants to be so. She also calls mana suppression a useless skill, and then immediately reveals she is also doing it.
You might wanna rewatch her scenes keeping this in mind~
Frieren and Fern’s relationship is so sweet and beautiful, its both subtle and profane. The way Frieren quietly worked on getting Fern’s staff fixed, was so and so her. The scene with her and young Himmel was so beautiful heartwarming, she was his guiding light home.
I’m assuming you meant that their relationship is “profound,” not “profane.” Lol
Also this scene really reminded me of Gandalf in lord of the rings. The smallest things can have the biggest impact. It affected all her life afterwards and also this Show is full of moments like this. How much all actions of the past, had a big impact of the present.
I like that this show reminds us to be open and carring, to maybe see the fruits of our help in the past and make a better future.
@@tofutanari6212 Nah nah, you should hear what comes out of Fern's mouth when Frieren oversleeps. Worse than a stevedore. <(´⌯ ̫⌯`)>
The story about the uncertified and disgraceful mage, a fake hero, a cowardly warrior and a corrupt priest
*Disgraceful Mage.
@@jaideepshekhar4621 oh yes that, my bad
But I thought the uncertified one also fits
I think the best part of Frieren showing Young Himmel the flower field is what led to Himmel studying flowers
Serie has more of a problem with coming to terms with human lifespans but she doesn’t exactly know how to express that to her students so it seems more like she’s dissatisfied with her students but its more she’s disappointed she’ll never see their fullest potential if they had her lifetime
I feel her lol. She probably remembers her first 100 years, yet she sees these humans rush ahead and get so far, only for their fire to go out before coming close to her.
I think that's what she's looking for and was willing to take on Fern as an apprentice, just 5 minutes after saying that she will no longer bother with teaching humans. Fern will surpass Frieren, maybe Serie. And then she'll perish, and the two elves will continue to go on and in time become stronger than Fern was in her prime.
"It was that useless spell my master taught me that brought me and my companions together." Man that line hits so damn hard, always makes me close to dropping a tear.
Bro i couldn't read the subtitles that time😂,,
The next ep reveals a lot more about Serie. She is a real contradiction. Also, as others have commented, it's important to recognize how unbelievably powerful Serie is. Her suppressed mana is equal to Frieren's unsuppressed mana. I'm sure that Frieren knows this too.
I think serie is like 5000 years old so makes sense shes much older than frieren. Hell in elf terms frieren is like probably in her early 20s in human years
We don't know how old Serie is. Just she's from the Mythical Era.
What I love about the flower spell is that it’s considered useless and yet it was flammes frierens and her party of heroes favorite spell because it was just magic. It wasn’t a tool. Just for joy. It’s precisely because serie couldn’t see the beauty in a spell like that that she could never challenge the demon king. Ultimately the party of heroes and the demon king it seems battle was about a philosophy. Where is magic? Is it just power? Or is it in the small moments you share with the ones you love? Maybe I’m just pulling that out of my ass though but that’s what comes to mind when that spell is emphasized
But Serie can absolutely see the beauty in a spell like that, as Frieren noticed They are talking in a room full of flowers that Serie has conjured Using precisely that spell because she misses Flamme. She Is only too stubborn to accept her own feelings and Is lying to herself....the reason Why She didn't want to kill the demon king Is because She didn't want a peaceful world full of weak mages.
@@bondrewd5935I have only seen the anime, but I think you're judging a bit harshly there. I'm not willing she is so awful as to not fight the demonking because of that.
Serie always lies (about her feelings). She might simply not have been able to fight the demonking and expect to win, or maybe she was and had other reasons
@@onetom2222 As a manga Reader I can Tell you that Serie Is the demon race worst Nightmare since the Mythological Era (a very ancient time when the demon race appeared for the First time) so no, the problem cleary was not the fact that She wasn't able to fight him and expect to win 😂 what she didn't want and could not visualize was a world Without the menace of the demon king, a completely different world from the One that She had known until that moment
@@bondrewd5935 yes you're right 100%. serie is very reticent to say how she feels and puts up walls with words that are ultimately betrayed by her actions. me saying she couldn't see it's beauty is too strong a point on it. maybe it's more that she doesn't see the value?
i do think there is a difference in approach that is important between frieren and serie, and that's more what i was trying to stress with the flower spell. it's magic for a peaceful era just as frieren is a mage for a peaceful era according to flamme. frieren having that be her favorite spell to me is an important reason for why she was able to defeat the demon king - she could imagine a world with magic that isn't motivated by it's capacity for conflict.
flamme saying neither her or serie could defeat the demonking cause they lacked that imagination to me registered as you can't fight fire with fire when it comes to the demonking.
I like how Lernen thinks that Frieren actually has as much mana as Serie but doesn't realize that Serie is concealing her mana. How much does she actually have?
Flamme told Frieren to suppress her mana to one tenth. If it was not Flamme that started with suppressing mana, but indeed Serie, I think it's fair to assume that Serie, Flamme and Frieren, from master to student stuck to 10%.
@@onetom2222 I reckon the 1/10 thing was only a lesson for beginners (it was Flamme's first lesson to Frieren). Mastering the ability of mana suppression likely allows you to decrease your power much more (to 1/25 or 1/50 even, who knows).
Yea. Serei can control her mana to the point its non existent. Fern can't do that and Fern is better than Freiren at it. The 1/10 thing was a starting point.
Something I love about Serie, is Frieren telling us that her intuition is always right, then you see her put it into action, and it's magical how perceptive she is. It's as if she can read your mind. The only one she couldn't instantly read was Fern.
Naah, it was Methode.
@@jaideepshekhar4621 lol true, but maybe she was just in denial about reading her mind. Like, "no way she walked in here thinking I'm cute"
@@loayzc10 Hmmm, didn't think of that. You're right.
I think they didn't understand what Serie said about her mana because there was zero reaction to that.
9:30 In the end they didn't see that he never saw the fluctuations in Serie's mana either...
:))
The amount of contradictory in this episode is great. I, for some reason, like Serie because of it.
- Serie says that suppressing your mana is a waste of time but she also supressess her mana. It looks like she isn't but she is.
- Flamme's flower spell is useless whilst also doing the test in a garden of flowers.
- She doesn't want to take on human apprentices as it's pointless but still took in flamme, Lernen and wants to take Fern.
You guys missed it but Serie's SUPRESSED mana is equal to that off Frieren full released mana
Himmel is going to ruin the standards for romance for a whole generation of people xD
“So she groomed him” NAH YOU NEED TO STOPPPP😭😭😭😭
"Serie's intuition is always right"
We love Serie's feet. LOL

some people say the 2nd test would've been easier if frieren isn't there but you also need to consider the 1st test. if frieren wasn't there. lawine and kanne will likely fail since frieren also destroyed the barrier for kanne. if lawine wasn't in the 2nd test. the test-takers wouldn't have the most important information that lawine has. they will all going to fail since they do not know what they're fighting and the information that the clones will gather at the bottom. that's the reason why the dungeon wasn't mapped or never been conquered until now. so serie was right that they all passed because of frieren.
Exactly.
Really enjoyed the discussion at end, they hit on a lot of good topics. They mentioned about how that one mage could see the fluctuations in serie mana but I'm not sure if it clicked what that meant 😂
Frieren Co-Director: Quentin Tarantino for the need of Feet.
7:06 "They're going to make the test harder or something because of that" while they literally said that the typical third test would kill all of them ;-;
In case you didnt know that bit about series student not noticing her fluctuations is because frierens full power is equivalent to series suppresed mana
"She groomed him" 😂😂😂
Pierce the Veil shirt goes hard
7:48 "Falsch" means "wrong" btw
his only purpose in the show is to be wrong I guess^^
like i always says sarie lonely face always hit me
I dont think the clone would've used the last trick if it were to fight 1vs1 with fern
12:08 lmao
PLEASE REACT TO ACCEL WORLD. This is from the same author who wrote Sword Art Online. This is a little-known anime, but I guarantee you that this anime was simply ahead of its time and only because of this it did not gain much popularity. The plot and the whole world are so different from other anime that in all 13 years of watching anime I couldn’t find anything similar.
Dani likes Pierce The Veil? 👌
You guys watched legend of the galactic heroes? Its a old one but a good one. Takes a while to pick up but it plays out like reading a book as it is based on one.
Friren's kid:)
❤❤
"she groomed him" LOL, this is where my mind went too. 1000+ year old with a 20-30 yo is like a 150+ year old dating a 2-3 year old. I don't actually care about the age gap, but I find it funny watching the people who complain about Rudeus mental age gap doing mental gymnastics trying to justify the Frieren gap

HEY GIRLS ARE YOU COMMIN OUT WITH ANY NEW SERIES ?
Has to be Apothecary Diaries...
😍Dani🥰I’m getting ready to go back to campus. Central Cee Entrepreneur. Turn it up gang.🌷
Such a disappointment when reactors fails to understand Serie true feelings.
I'm guessing they're getting a little bored with anime now..
- The flashbacks continue to be a source of joy.❤️
- I know Frieren respects serie...but not passing Frieren to me is joke. Like... come on. Also that thing she does where she never gives Frieren any credit for defeating the demon king. And keeps undermining human magic, despite how fast we are progressing.... sigh. So infuriating.
Serie won't pass Frieren not because she's not strong
If you remember the first time they met she instantly liked that she was talented and strong
Serie doesn't like that Frieren doesn't have a passion for improving like she would expect
Imagine you're the head of a university and there's this girl that already graduated at another university that wants to sign up at yours
She only wants to join so that she can get special benefits but not for the actual university
Then you ask her 'What's your favorite spell' / 'What passion do you have for wanting to study here'
She would answer: 'Oh I don't actually want to attend any classes or study at all and I just like partying and drinking'
It's not that you don't believe she has the competency of going through your university. It's just that she's not actually interested in it and just wants 1 benefit, so it's pointless to give her a spot
@@cluelessclown6562 hmm, I feel like the drinking and partying is a false equivalency. Frieren does have a passion for magic, just not the type that Serie likes or agrees with.
Remember Freiren believes in the joy of searching for magic. It's literally what she lives for. The spark that serie saw in Denken was literally because of, and awoken by Frieren. That's not someone that is "not interested" to me. Serie is just a narrow minded person imo.
I feel like a better comparison with your analogy would have been that she doesn't want to be the best student at the university, and get the top grades, but wants to learn for knowledge sake. Which should be music to the ears of any examiner/mentor. Serie is just being petty.
フリーレンが強さを求める魔法使いなら世界は滅びていたでしょう
フランメは平和な魔法を愛するフリーレンこそ魔王を倒せると確信していた
@@NileSwimmer Well we have two people with absolut opposite philosophies of magic. Frieren is the open minded Magic lover, she sees beauty in every spell and can appriciate even the smallest creation if its creative and unique.
Series is refind logic, she doesnt attach feeling to magic only use it like a tool. Her only ranking of magic lays in achieving victory to power. So she only sees spells that are craftet for killing and combat as usefull. Her reflection on the human rise also show her eye for conflict and she knows how the elves will perish in the future. So her only ambtition is preparing for the worst and is constantly in a war, even as the demon king is dead now it doesnt matter to her. New danger will come.
She is very childlike in her personality, but her logical part really reminds me of Saruman in lord of the rings. Gandalf also was the wizard wasting his time with the hobbits and in Sarumans eye wasting his potential. Luckily Series didnt joined the demonking on the wining side.
Are you three women single
Get out/
You know, in a way, the demon king was defeated because of that flower spell. I love that 🥲😁
