@ThyPeasantSlayer found the triggered american. Americans think they can dictate what other countries do. Typical. What happened after US army left Vietnam? It was a useless war that costed a lot of lives, accomplishing absolutely nothing.
As far as I am aware, the US and NVA only ever had 1 tank on tank engagement in the whole war. A group of 3 PT-76's and infantry ambushed a platoon of M60's guarding an outpost by climbing up a steep hill side thought to be too steep for armor to climb. Ended in the near destruction of the outpost, and all PT'S dead with no M60 loses. The AVRN on the other hand engaged NVA armor regularly. That being said, Vietnam was definitely an infantry war.
yes, but North Vietnam also had a match 1 T54 No. 377 against 10 American tanks, but No. 377 destroyed 7 American tanks and was also destroyed but No. 377 was also destroyed by the remaining 3 tanks.

At this time, the 354 and 369 tanks opened at full speed to rescue the 377 while fighting the enemy to open the way, destroying a number of enemy tanks hiding behind the battle emplacement. @Isosceles51 mean while the Chinese invaded Vietnam primarily with....tanks. I mean, they lost, but it still happened. Also, we had no issues using tanks ourselves in Vietnam, nor did the British in WW2. So the jungle being the only factor for why the Vietnam conflict was a primarily infantry fight is wrong. The primary reason why Vietnam was an infantry war has more to do with the equipment available and the tactics employed by the North Vietnamese than anything else. North Vietnam was chronically low on modern equipment. This included jets, tanks, apc's, etc. Understanding this, North Vietnam used their infantry and their understanding of their native jungles to ambush and out maneuver the US, AVRN, and the UN. Despite this, North Vietnam never won an engagement against US forces and always took more casualties than they inflicted.
