I managed to skip this fight through the speech sequences during my first try. Oh how I was disappointed when I’d learned that I missed out on one of the best boss fights in the game.
yeah, although the morally correct decision is to let them kill the guy, he killed the manor's host and molested his daughter, which tells you that Olgierd is actually a good guy and lives by a code. Not some criminal. I love the writing, you don't get the whole truth from one decision alone. on the other hand if you let them kill him, you don't fight Olgierd, the fight is so fun tbh.
This fight was intense and the song did nothing but intensified it even more. The ladies from Percival can sing, especially Joanna Lacher. Her voice is powerful!

I won't call him an antagonist. The true antagonist is Gaunter O'dim or a Glassman. Olgerd is a victim, who wanted to marry Iris, so he dealed with Gaunter and he gave Olgerd what he wanted, but with own interpretations of conditions
yep he's not an antagonist. He's the tragic hero of the story. Man I never could accept O'dims deal at the end. He was a desperate guy just like anyone irl with honest problems, and he fucked it up while he tried to solve them, and he knows this, that's why his character is so brilliant. He deserve peace.

Rip old video, even if I have read them all before I loved listening to this while reading the comments and all the peoples stories about their first reaction to this fight.
I know, right? This fight was so memorably unexpected, that you like to share the feeling and see others experienced the same. The most memorable moment of the whole game, not only because it is the most epic fight, but also because it happen completely unexpected.
I still remember being humbled by Olgierd. Had it coming given I felt very overpowered at that point in my hard run (whatever it's called) and thought it would be another underwhelming fight. Then he hits me with the charm, bravado, skills, and his sword that took at LEAST a third of my health. Hearts of stone is a slowburn of a dlc and one that I have grown to appreciate the older I get. Phenomenal dlc for that game. CD projekt red is not infallible but boy are their highs amazing!
Witcher 3 is easy on Death March. Honestly the builds you can make are broken, not to talk about the sign that gives you barrier (quen i think, i forgot names)
If they ever should get that far, put Olgierd and Gaunter in the series. I'm a huge fan of Olgierd, probably because of the moment when that song started playing. Badass.

Ye, hearts of stone, dlc, what is dark and scary, letargic and depressive, only Vitold von Everek was fun, other part is sad history of Iris story and where Geralt without choice became a thief, even at end if you didn't killed scientist, by his own home, you can not stop o'dim, if you made scientist dead, you will take saber from Olgerd and because his wishes like immortality and richness disappeard, you left him with nothing
Late but he and his band of men are inspired by the Ukrainian Cossacks who ended up fighting the Ottomans a bunch of times and in turn got alot of style and weaponry influences from them.
@@matthewjohannes3509 yup yup. Olgierd is the product of inspiration drawn from Kmicic in The Deluge and the sometimes called 'polish Faust', Pan Twardowski :). The cross-cutting saber fencing is inspired by the fighint style in the movie / book, a style historically accurate as you put it yourself. Edit: they (Olgierd and Geralt) also speak some of the lines from the duel in the Deluge, for all who wanna check it out :)

Geralt or olgierd vs pretty much any got character would be a stomp, youre comparing high fantasy characters who have supernatural powers vs characters who are just good swordfighters. A mid tier characters from the malazan or warhammer fantasy books would probably make a better match

It is not a game of sweet adventures of caillou lol. There is no real good or bad ending, only choices jjst like real life.

Late but he and his band of men are inspired by the Ukrainian Cossacks who ended up fighting the Ottomans a bunch of times and in turn got alot of style and weaponry influences from them.
@@matthewjohannes3509 yup yup. Olgierd is the product of inspiration drawn from Kmicic in The Deluge and the sometimes called 'polish Faust', Pan Twardowski :). The cross-cutting saber fencing is inspired by the fighint style in the movie / book, a style historically accurate as you put it yourself.
Edit: they (Olgierd and Geralt) also speak some of the lines from the duel in the Deluge, for all who wanna check it out :)

@@MrBlack_-_ Well one of the best things about this game is having an easy fight, simply cuz geralt is really supposed to be better then anyone else, you shouldnt struggle too much killing them, its the finding them that should be a struggle.

Geralt or olgierd vs pretty much any got character would be a stomp, youre comparing high fantasy characters who have supernatural powers vs characters who are just good swordfighters. A mid tier characters from the malazan or warhammer fantasy books would probably make a better match
