Thrawn: So what's up with the war. I'm suppose we are close to winning the war. Emperor is probably letting the Senate knows the Rebels is in there final hours. Dark Jedi: Actually, about that..........
You're in for a real treat if you aren't familiar with him. Thrawn is the greatest military mind in the Empire and arguably the entire SW galaxy. (Though Revan is a contender) Even with a depleted naval force, Thrawn nearly brings the New Republic to its knees.
The crazy thing is that the dedication of Thrawn’s crew in the entire fleet was so true, it was questioned if they were loyal to the Empire or to Thrawn.
Thrawn has proved to be an adept leader who commands the respect of his fleet. I can't wait to see how he leads the Empire to glory! Thrawn in the flesh with his theme music making a grand entrance that was bone chilling, menacing & frightening. The stormtroopers chanting his name with pride shows their loyalty and allegiance to him. Thrawn's calm voice exudes calm strength. I can't wait to see how he outsmarts his opponents by his wits. "Everything Leading Up To This Moment Has Been Rehearsal. The Real Performance Is About To Begin." - Grand Admiral Thrawn.
0:29 I see Thrawn has spread his knack for artistry amongst his surviving forces (Probably for a multitude of reasons: To help keep their gear in decent-ish condition, to help keep everyone sane and busy, to try and expand their minds past the Drone-like mentality you often see in Imperial rank and file troops, etc..). His forces look like a Sci-Fi Terracotta Army: Worn down in the face of time, but surprisingly well preserved nonetheless, and each Soldier is unique in appearance when you look at them closely. The cracked armor and red fabrics that adorn them make them look like tragically beautiful statues.
I think the broken armors has the same meaning as Kylo Ren’s mask, and get the inspiration from Japanese ceramics process of reform. The night trooper perhaps went through many horrific wars, and their broken armors showed they have been reformed and become stronger.
The red decor of their armor symbolizes their ties to the Nightsisters. Hence their name, Nighttroopers... When Enoch commands them in the beginning, he does so in the language of that planet. They have adapted well to the conditions. Not without help from Dathomiri witches ❤
One of the things I'm seeing is that when confronted with new information you can see brief pauses, contemplating the new info, its implications and reformulating his next move. I think it is a great little detail from the actor. When he knows of the prisoner, of the name of the fallen jedi, and finally the name of the prisoner as well you can see how he immediately ponders this new information. A great subtle thing to let us know that this man is very calculating, always thinking and always on top of things strategically
Man thrawns one mangled star destroyer and his small battered army looks hella more intimidating that the final order ever was. That’s how you know the final order was so bad

But I’ve enjoyed all the series
Lars Mikkelsen's voice in the animated was just great, seeing him in person is just so wonderful especially I love both him and Mads Mikkelsen. Otherwise, no one else could be Thrawn except him.
Seems Thrawn has himself some Rubric marines. the sashes and makeshift changes to the armor keeping it sealed makes them look more like walking Urns, a final statement for their sacrifice, forever serving the empire.
This was utterly fantastic, watching rebels and reading Thrawn 2017 (halfway through alliances now with all 6 canon books in my possession) has been utterly rewarding.
The music and cinematography of this episode was just outstanding. Whomever they got to direct this episode, PLEASE bring them back for every series going forward
His performance is SO GOOD! The way he's kind of smirking. The way he addresses people. The hint of danger in his looks. That little pause he did at 1:34 was so full of implication, but you have no idea what kind!
Even the smirk is calculated. Notice when Thrawn smirks, it's only a half smirk where one side of his face reacts. That kind of asymmetry is unsettling to most people. He's likely doing it as a psychological tactic.
I love this scene so much, i want Grand Admiral to win this ashoka season, he deserve this also the new character captain Enoch is ground breaking the way he walks and talk absolutely amazing
So nice to finally see Lars getting some more well deserved International screen time, so its not just little brother Mads Mikkelsen who gains international succes🙂Also very cool that he was the voice actor in the animated series and now in live action, so well deserved❤🇩🇰🇩🇰

He doesn't suffer fools but tries to teach junior officers how to think and analyze a situation and does all he can to get to know his enemy or potential enemy before formulating a strategy. He's not omniscient and he's willing to admit when he's made a mistake and he's willing to learn from it. He's the embodiment of "soft power".
Is it the new or old Thrawn trilogy you are referring to?
@@Anders_Lund Old. I'm referring to the Thrawn Trilogy novels from the early 90s.
@@richardlahan7068He's the same in the 2 new trilogies and even more.
The most fanatical imperial forces we have ever seen. The troopers serving the warlords stay for the money, these ones stayed to survive. Probably the most loyal and battle hardened force the star wars galaxy will see since the clones
Pretty sure those are undead troopers
Still the the most loyal and battle hardened force since the clones no doubt.@@julienderagon4645
@@julienderagon4645Not all are dead likely.
@@themrmezbah im pretty sure the only dead soldiers are the ones being excavated from the catacombs
Those stormtroopers looked GNARLY!! Great scene!
I love the fact that it seems they all just kinda decided to stop cleaning their armour at some point, looks gnarly which is the point though especially the 'Kintsugi' styled repairs they've made to their armor and even the ship to some degree. Awesome look
@@JustWalkingMan alot of them are probably undead so that could be part of that reason.
They wear the war torn armor like a badge of honor.
@@xDvsking666xim sure what we saw was just the surviving force and the thousands of coffins they were moving were the undead warriors
they're a literal zombie army kept "alive" by Dathomiri witchcraft. The cargo they're loading are caskets full of corpses for his army of the undead
His star destroyer is awesome love the tattoo on the bottom... looks like thrawns been eating well... He is considerably older now I love when he concentrates his eyes get brighter
Did he ate the space whales lol
He sure is healthy & fat now😂
@@genjicrowjust as his real life actor is now, Elon Musk.
Yeah I honestly didn't like that they made him fat in this. Thrawn valued fitness and despised lazy or complacent officers.
@derek96720 the actor is the same as Thrawns voice actor, I guess they wanted to keep the mannerisms the same
I like how dirty and patched up the Storm Troopers looked as expected of a group stranded in the middle of nowhere, but yet they still look discipline and threatening speaks volume of Thrawn's charisma to keep them in line.
Thrawn looks a little too clean though
Most likely because they're undead troopers brought back by the night sisters
The troops under thrawn's command are specifically loyal to him. That shows you how great of a leader he is
The VFX team needs to be commended. This scene is memorable and an achievement on so many levels.
2:04 he must mean Anakin Skywalker!!! Fun fact, during the Clone Wars Thrawn meet Anakin Skywalker in the book Thrawn: Alliences!!!
Yep Thrawn also knows Anakin was Vader. It will be really interesting to see how it all plays out once he knows Ahsoka was Vader's apprentice.
@@cameronearls6497in the end of episode, he told morgan that he wanted to know all of ashoka’s history, “HER MASTER”, her homeworld everything, which makes disney forgetting that in thrawn novels, it showed that thrawn knew about anakin being vader which makes no sense.
@@NorthWirld not necessarily; he could be feigning ignorance to determine what Morgan knows
Every inquisitor was once a Jedi it's not that rare of a thing.
@@NorthWirld how is it ignoring the thrawn novels? In the novels did he know that Ahsoka was Anakin's apprentice? If he didn't know that info in the novels, and his only knowledge of Anakin is that he and Padme were together and that Anakin became Vader, then it's perfectly consistent.
I like how damaged Chimera looks.
Reminds me about Darth Nihilus starship
Bebieron mucho de KOTOR 2. De hecho el objetivo de Baylan Skoll es el mismo de Kreia.
The Ravager, plucked from the gravity well at Malachor 5. Held together more by Nihilus’ unshakable will than anything else.
Yes but the Ravager was literally kept tied/glued together by Darth Nihilus power. It was just a wreckage
The chimaera was absolutely chilling, the damaged and hastily repaired hull, the three main thrusters ahutoff, the creaking of its structure.
It almost feels like watching a reanimated corpse.
Yeah, everything around Thrawn looks like it’s decaying and in a reanimated corpse state, while he remains spotless. super creepy !
@@michaelsebiHe has a stain on the right side of his tunic by the right code cylinders. So, not quite.
@@michaelsebi his outfit is old and faded. He is not what Gideon was. Gideons remnants were spotless. Thrawn is an army of the dead.
I find it cool how the ship named chimaera and it’s crew have mismatched parts
@@____Carnage____ interesting way of looking at. 👍
I like how I was expecting him to pull up on a small ship, or show up on the eye, but pulls up with his salvage Star destroyer with a creepy post apocalyptic looking stormtrooper militia and controls the Witches. Like- TF OKAY Thrawn! He’s a resourceful survivor
0:34 literally one of the coolest starwars helmets I've ever seen holy hell

Agree
I think it’s supposed to resemble king baldwin the leper’s mask.
@@managers6667yea he’s in my basement
The cinematography felt like a scene out of Dune here. It was amazing. A welcome shift in my eyes.
What a time to be alive seeing the voice actors getting to play their characters in live action.
Thrawn: So what's up with the war. I'm suppose we are close to winning the war. Emperor is probably letting the Senate knows the Rebels is in there final hours.
Dark Jedi: Actually, about that..........
I never read the Thrawn books or watched the animated series and he's still giving me shivers.
You're in for a real treat if you aren't familiar with him. Thrawn is the greatest military mind in the Empire and arguably the entire SW galaxy. (Though Revan is a contender) Even with a depleted naval force, Thrawn nearly brings the New Republic to its knees.
What an ENTRANCE. As Megamind said, the difference between a villain and a super villain is, quote, "Presentation!"
Also the captain of the guard's helmet looks like a Roman cavalry helmet. Creepy as all hell.
I am reading the original Thrawn trilogy. And I always here Lars Mikkelsen’s voice when reading Thrawn’s lines. Such a great actor for this character.
Same. Re-reading the trilogy after so long has been a real treat and Lars plays Thrawn so perfectly that I hear his voice when I read the books.
Same! I saw Rebels before I read Heir to the Empire, and it was easy to hear his voice.
They did him soooo well I am glad the va who voiced him in rebels is now playing him it's so nostalgic 😭
1:53 Thrawn is everything I ever dreamed and wanted right here. He’s really here 😭
I dig the music. Thrawn should have been the actual villain for the movie sequels...
The crazy thing is that the dedication of Thrawn’s crew in the entire fleet was so true, it was questioned if they were loyal to the Empire or to Thrawn.
I had just watched this episode a couple of hours ago with my brother. When I heard his ship approaching, I was like “Here he comes!”
He's Back!
The Real Performance Is About To Begin."
- Grand Admiral Thrawn.
of couse the are loyalty to thrawn. the all dead and revived by the nightsisters.
waited patiently for the return of the Thrawn and they didnt disappoint. Lars is goated for this performance

I see Thrawn has spread his knack for artistry amongst his surviving forces (Probably for a multitude of reasons: To help keep their gear in decent-ish condition, to help keep everyone sane and busy, to try and expand their minds past the Drone-like mentality you often see in Imperial rank and file troops, etc..).
The night trooper perhaps went through many horrific wars, and their broken armors showed they have been reformed and become stronger.
i get the feeling of an orkish-uruk hai vibe coming from his troops.
That and Thrawn would never attempt such a double sword plan at achieving victory, like paplatine did with the xyston star destroyers
@@samparrish4870 facts man! FACTS!!!
Everything about this intro is peak,
The music, the slow walk of thrawn with hands behind his back, the chanting of the stormtroopers
Its just perfect
That fact that he is voiced by the same guy from his appearance in rebels, I don't care if some people say he looks a bit like elon musk, the voice actor is irreplaceable.
Easily in the Top 5 character intros in Star Wars.
It’s good to see Thrawn again and I bet this time Ezra will finally be found
Oh you haven’t see the episode yet my friend go watch it before you get spoiled
Watch the episode

His appearance gave me a lot of chills, probably the best parts of this episode were scenes with him.
Enoch is just amazing. Also he’s the only trooper that don’t have the red tape around the armour
It’s just impressive how fast us Star Wars fans leak stuff
I can't believe that Star Destroyer is still intact and its still functional, and still able to fly.
"Intact" is not the word I would use. But yes, "functional" is still very much surprising.
*Then again, this **_is_** Thrawn.*
i would say barelly able to fly. most of the engines were out and I'm sure like 30% of interior space is uninhabitable while in space due to hull breaches.
@@kamirostorino9416Maybe it is flying through more mystical means…
@@pastlife960 nah. it is flying using those 4 smaller engines. but it is definitely not hyperdrive capable... but then again. that massive hyperdrive ring is probably build to link with this ship.
They absolutely killed it with his entrance 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I see Thrawn has been watching Dune while in exile. SO freaking classy, but damn those stormtroppers look good and terrifying, like a revenant army from the ancient past out to kill. And that Enoch... his face place my god that's a strong contender for best Star Wars Helmet
Sounds like they are chanting Thrawn over and over
They are
They are
They are

They are
I see he still has his eye for art
Making do with what he has and still having his troopers look good while doing it
I can't believe that star destroyer is still functional from the amount of holes it has and it's running only with 4 secondary engine
I like how the troopers treat Thrawn like a legend and chant his name in his honor because under his command they've all been kept alive for 10 years in the middle of nowhere
Hearing that voice again gave me goosebumps!!
This felt like the start of the trilogy we wanted.
Sadly we didn't see it play out.
@@chriswhite3692 well so far., allegedly there is going go be a crossover movie.

Waited for live Thrawn since the late 90s. This was a real treat of a show for those of us who are long-time Thrawn fans.
I thought the same thing
To be honest all of the Star Wars series from mando to this are better than the last 3 sequels.
Always wanted to see thrawn on the screen after reading the novels etc, d plageus still remains elusive on screen. Considering he trained palpatine and he’s potentially immortal, he wouldn’t be hard to insert into any of the movies or series
But then again as regards the movies they created and killed d maul straight away, and other great character and kept silly ones like rey, Finn, etc ignored chewbacca, again created a good character in k ren then portrayed it all wrong imo, created the knights of ren, then didn’t really feature them in any way .,
Total shite for me.
But I’ve enjoyed all the series
Star Wars fans have waited 30 years for Thrawn to appear in live action, and it was so worth it.
Lars Mikkelsen's voice in the animated was just great, seeing him in person is just so wonderful especially I love both him and Mads Mikkelsen. Otherwise, no one else could be Thrawn except him.
You know you created magic when newcomers are shook and the elders rejoice
Dudes he's more intense, threatening and stunning in live action than in rebels and he was amazing in rebels!!! 😭😭😍😭😍😭
The Chimera kinda feels like a ghost ship. I like that feeling.
Lol not even reading the original stories. Pathetic.
It's a great ride. Just be prepared some bombshell reveals that filoni will likely look past 😭
@@themrmezbahyou stand corrected. Anakin’s appearance in alliances/chaos rising was acknowledged
Ezra started a turtle farm.
Thrawn turned into an endgame crisis.
The duck tape certainly came in handy when it came to the stormtroopers and the ship.
This return of Thrawn made Star Wars very intresting and fresh to see! I really want to see him bring down the New Republic!
The music and cinematography of this episode was just outstanding.
Whomever they got to direct this episode, PLEASE bring them back for every series going forward
This entrance was so ... artistically done ❤
Denis Villeneuve could learn a thing or two from the director
His performance is SO GOOD! The way he's kind of smirking. The way he addresses people. The hint of danger in his looks. That little pause he did at 1:34 was so full of implication, but you have no idea what kind!
Even the smirk is calculated. Notice when Thrawn smirks, it's only a half smirk where one side of his face reacts. That kind of asymmetry is unsettling to most people. He's likely doing it as a psychological tactic.
When you’re leaving school for Christmas break and The teachers are lined up in the halls Playing music:

Which is officially now canon
I love this scene. Watched it a dozen times and its not enough.
I really like the way you can hear Captain Enoch shouting commands through the nightroops chanting thrawn
I love this scene so much, i want Grand Admiral to win this ashoka season, he deserve this also the new character captain Enoch is ground breaking the way he walks and talk absolutely amazing
Seeing Thrawn in live action is just amazing.
So nice to finally see Lars getting some more well deserved International screen time, so its not just little brother Mads Mikkelsen who gains international succes🙂Also very cool that he was the voice actor in the animated series and now in live action, so well deserved❤🇩🇰🇩🇰
This Thrawn should've been the main antagonist of the sequel trilogy.
Love that the voice actor played his character in this too. Fantastic job
The fact they got his VA in rebels to play him in live action was a masterstroke. He brings such gravitas to the show.
“Now, there’s a familiar name…”
Chills.
Man, Elon Musk is killing it as Thrawn 🔥
I liked the idea of Thrawn having the same loyal crew and then boom, the stormtrooper reveal. Now these are MEN
The voice.... ermahgawd the voice. He's so calm. Young me watching rebels was scared of those red eyes
