I will never understand the people (mostly from the FB groupies page) who unsubscribe because they say they can’t relate or aren’t learning anything from GA since they’ve become more successful. I don’t even have a backyard to garden but I still continue to learn something from every video.
I'm with you. I don't get it either.
Can I Garden on this scale? Nope.
Can I learn a bunch anyway? Yep.
Plus Laura and Aaron are so pleasant I can't not watch😂
Trolls
You know, there are other gardening/homesteaders that I stopped following because they became unrelatable and started showing more of their growing business side and less of the gardening that I followed them for, but I’ve never felt that way about Garden Answer, period. The best thing about their channel is how consistent and informative it is. I often feel like I’m more knowledgeable than the employees at my local garden centers when I try to ask them questions and that’s all due to Laura (and her mom) being such a natural teacher. They’re doing it right as far as I’m concerned.
So beautiful ♥️
Same here! I have an apartment patio and I can apply what I learn from this channel. Plus, there’s so much variety! It’s my favorite channel! 💚 🪴 🤎
I don't even own Felcos but I watched Laura cleaning them anyway and it was so calming and relaxing. 😂
There is something very satisfying about watching you clean your Felcos! They are so worth the investment.
Did you miss attaching a tiny washer when cleaning the Felco’s? I thought I saw one still on the towel.🤷♀️
Regarding perennial mums……I live in zone 5b in Ontario, Canada. Over 40 years ago, I got a division of a pinky-mauve from a local resident. Since then I divide my clumps down to teacup size and replant all over the place. I have given away hundreds of them and now you can see them all over the subdivision. They are left standing until spring and pinched back until the end of June. Each plant grows to an actual barrel size. This year I found a yellow variety which makes me happy to begin the process with it!
You're so lucky. I'm in the middle of BC, Zone 3-4 depending on how high you are in the city. I found that I could get Chrysanthemums through the winter but when the daylight hours hit that magic number and buds started to form, we were going to get frost. Same with SOME of the hardy asters. Sigh. Luckily, there are some asters that bloom earlier. I love going to Laura's garden every day because she can grow what I can't. I'm not even jealous because we get to follow the progress of those plants through the season and through the years. Besides, if I could grow zone 5 and 6 plants, where would I PUT them all?? :D How I LOVE Garden Answer.
How wonderful. When do you divide? Fall or spring?
I am looking for suggestions on my Coral Berry, I planted mine last fall. I only got a handful of berries on the entire bush. So bummed, any suggestions for a better year next year!? It did show growth, just lacking the pink berries.
@ in spring once they are visibly growing and after I have snapped/cut down the previous years stems. Mine are referred to as”bushel mums” because that is how they grow. They MUST be kept pinched back to form a tight bushy plant.
@@wendymarples8388, hello from Kelowna
Greetings from Colorado. I’m currently wrapped up in a blanket, in front of my fireplace and watching the snow falling we’ve had for 3 days.
I was crazy.. but lots & lots of moisture! Yea!! Just wish I’d completed all my bulb planting! Now it’s going to be a muddy mess when I’m able to finish it this coming weekend!
Kudos to whoever chooses the music for your show. Such a nice, calming way to start my day!❤
The guitar is really soothing. I’ve noticed it is something I look forward to hearing in the background as Laura is working.
There is something very therapeutic about watching the Felco cleaning
Your tidiness and organization is almost as inspiring as you gardens! My felcos are lying with the replacement parts and supplies, waiting patiently for me to clean them. Thank you for the nudge to get her done! Benjamin is taller every time I see him.
I know your neighbors are going to enjoy that tree! Looking forward to more outdoor decorating videos. And especially around the dream stream.
Will you be putting lights on the red barn? That would be so adorable.
I always think how lucky her neighbors are to have her borrowed view. She is also so considerate of her neighbors.
The high tunnel with the mums bring a smile to my face to still see beautiful blooming flowers this time of year.
Am I the only one that found this to be oddly relaxing? I don't own Felcos yet, and thought I'll just wait to watch when I need to but I became transfixed! I loved when she wasn't speaking and it was just the sound of her brushing and cleaning them. Hmmm, next time I'm stressed I will need to remember to watch this again!
I just had to stop to say, the guitar music 🎶 during the hosta cut back is so beautiful and soothing!
Cutting back the peonies was a good lesson. The mums are so beautiful in the high tunnel. Laura, your brain is always working, making everything much more beautiful. Everyone who follows you and Aaron, and also Paul and Bethany knows how hard all of you work to produce what that awesome brain of yours thinks of. GOD has given you a very special talent!!
I think those Mums are stunning and will supplement for the lack of Dahlias. You have had an in credible year. Can’t wait to see a recap of Year in Review.
If you consider those Felcos a mess, I am so glad you have never seen mine! 😂 I am one of the chicken ones who hasn't disassembled them yet. I will gather my strength with this encouragement. Thank you, Laura!
Morning coffee watching Garden Answers 😊 ❤
I love to see the work put in, all of it! The maintenance of your equipment is as important as the plants! I have a small business and it takes maintaining equipment to make everything work. It’s the behind the scenes. Love your videos! Keep up the great work!
I love mums they're so cute and do last a long time in a vase. I've bought two mums for my sweet kitty whoms been gone two years on December second, I'm still heartbroken. I planted her mums outside and they are just beautiful. I cut a bouquet and put it next to her box for her, I bought a bouquet flowers every week for a year and half then bought plants. She always has a flowering plant or a bouquet of flowers sitting with her in her favorite window ❤
Sending support for your terrible loss…..your heart must just be so broken…..💔😿💔
I love this video. You make us smile because of the beauty you find in the garden. You teach us new things and remind us of things we need to be doing. So satisfying. Thank you. Have a blessed day everyone.
Good morning! Love cleanup in the Fall or Spring, it’s just so satisfying to see everything buttoned up and neat! Thanks for the Feldco clippers cleanup. I watched the last one you did but this was a reminder to clean mine. I’m always afraid I won’t be able to put them back the way they are supposed to to go but you make it easy to do so I will try. The floral wrap on that tree is beautiful, that’s the way to wrap a tree/bush with Christmas lights!!
Take her clue as to taking a phone picture of each step. I think that may help
Thank you so much, Laura. I really needed this refresher on my cleaning my clippers. garden Looks beautiful.
After 50 plus years of gardening my arthritis in my pruning hand made it hard work. The best thing I brought was battery driven secateurs they are so worth it .Happy gardening my friends. 🌻🌻❤
I've had my Felcos for 20 years now. Over the years, I've purchased replacement parts and learned how to clean and, through trial and error, re-assemble them. They are such a joy to use and it's awesome that we can purchase the replacement parts, through the Felco website. Mine feel like an old friend when I'm in the gardens. This video was the best one you've done on cleaning Felcos. Great job!
Thank you Laura for going through all the steps of cleaning the felcos!! Mine need a good cleaning so I’m saving this video to watch again as I’m cleaning mine❣️❣️
I just want to say, I live in a townhome. In so much debt from school but looking forward to a day that I have a property and can plant. I love your channel. It brings me soo much joy. Thank you for sharing your passion and always being such a ray of light. You’re the best.
Laura, there are two large eyes on the bark of the white trunk of the Birch Tree that look like they are watching you while you were pruning the hostas. 😄😅So funny what our creative eyes can see, proving that nature is never boring! It is at 10.42 approx.
Thank you for this video of your beautiful garden. 💚🌲
Thank you so so much for the tunnel tour! I was wondering what was happening with them! Also, the tutorial on cleaning your Felcos was perfectly timed. I am getting all of my gardening items (tools) cleaned up and ready for Winter storage this weekend!!! Thanks again and the color interest in your garden is beautiful.
This video just proves to me that you guys are right that you can’t possibly be a Zone 7 😂 Here in a real Zone 7 in central Virginia, my peonies, hosta, and spires have never had even a whiff of a fall color. Our fall is too warm so they just go straight to brown. I have to get fall color vicariously through you guys!
Oh goodness I was just in my garden this morning thinking I probably should cut back my peonies and couldn't remember if sooner than later...but yes NOW... because I saw powdery mildew and fungus...just like you said. And while I'm at it will hit the Hostas.
Thank you Laura for this video reminder. ❤ how you keep us on top of things in our gardens by being on top of things in your garden.😊
That proudberry coral berry is always a joy to see along with your pollinator attracting perennials. Please root in more of the coral berry so you can plant more of them in your garden for us to see. One of these days I’ll have to get one for my garden. Thanks for sharing all of the beautiful fall color on your plants.
FYI: dig out that peony that is struggling now and transplant it in a pot to overwinter in your high tunnel. Come Spring you’ll be excited to plant them with your other ones.
The massive planting and building videos are exciting but I'm really enjoying these slower maintenance videos these days. ❤
Laura, I want to thank you for pointing out specific plants for fall color and not just color but structure. This fall it has finally clicked, and I am viewing the garden/nature thru a different lens. You may feel you are repeating yourself year after year, but that is what we need to hear, the specifics of why you love a plant
Laura needs a kit in the gator that includes a kneeeling pad, Felco’s, pop up bag, etc!
Oh my! That Veronica is absolutely stunning! On my list for next year
Clean out in batches is such good advice! I have an itty bitty garden, but have some physical issues, that makes everything a big job. Still I make myself think I have to do everything at once 😅 How silly really! I will now do it in batches 🥰👏
You know, your audio is NEVER horrendous. You must have an excellent mic system.
Martha Stewart says to "Learn something new everyday." GA is where I go to do this. You are a fabulous teacher, Laura. 🤩
Can’t believe how cold it is there. We’re still having 80’s here in Ga. Can’t wait till we get those cooler temps.
Well...Oregon is more northern than GA lol the problem up this way is this time of year the temps can fluctuate wildly. (I live in roughly the same area, but farther north than her, in WA) It's nuts
Right? LOL I think they’re hogging all the cooler weather. Please share a little with us in the south/west. We’re so ready for cooler weather. 🫠
@@thedirtygardeneroh man I wish I could swap some temps with you :) im in 5a Ontario Canada. Tomorrow’s high is 46 😭 below freezing over night. I’m already over it. Bring back the heat! 😂
Great video! Time for me to get to the peonies and hostas. Really appreciate the tutorial for cleaning and sharpening Felcos - mine are long overdue. Thank you.
Here's her earlier video on cleaning pruners th-cam.com/video/e1u5hJTuz1A/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Getting ready for old man winter, I really don't like winter at all. Our weather here in ne Oklahoma is crazy(great) it was 70 degrees this whole next week. Lows in 40s and 50s at night. Getting some much needed rain. There a whole bunch of trees that are still really lush and green. The grass is turning green, it was brown I'm absolutely loving it. It hasn't froze or frosted yet. Thank you God for giving us Florida weather.Great video Laura. I love how you clean your pruners😊
Thank you for introducing me to the Proud Berrry Coral Berry. I now have 4 throughout my small yard, they’re still a bit small, but seeing their colorful pink berries this fall brings me so much joy!
Thanks so much for this updated felco cleaning video! Just ordered my supplies😊
I predicted years ago that you guys would have an online shop...congratulations🎉 👏🎉🙌 you're going to be the next magnolia empire 😮
Gardening is one of my passion aside from cooking and fishing, since I can’t do all three at the moment because of my full time job gardening is watching after work the GARDEN ANSWER. Thank you Laura and the team for all the hard work and taking us all along in your gardening journey.
Thank you for another felco cleaning video... I always need it for seasonal inspiration!
Seeing you do what probably most of us is doing during this long weekend, encourage me to complete the task. I started today , and had to stop because it started raining, tomorrow looks like a better day 65 and sunny, yay, I hope to finish trimming all by the end of the day.
Hi Laura 😊 I found your page in 2019 after my dad suddenly passed and you for sure been a bright spot thru sadness. My mom‘s new husband just cut her beautiful large Oakleaf hydrangeas back to 6 inches and her rose of Sharon‘s down to 12 inches 😮🤯 do you think these will recover in the spring?
I am sorry for your loss. I saw your comment and wanted to let you know you aren't alone. I also found such great solace in the garden answer videos after the surprising passing of my dad in 2020. These videos where the only thing I found myself looking forward to some days. ❤
Your plants should recover.
Oak leaf hydrangeas should not be cut back so far. You should only cut off the blooms. I don't know if it's going to be okay but don't expect any flowers next year. I think that Laura does cut it back but not sure. Usually if you do cut it back they say to cut down 1/3 and leave 2/3 of the plant left. If they don't return, he will have to buy her new ones in spring. Let's hope that will be ok but don't expect flowers on the oak leaf hydrangeas next year. I hope it helps.
So sorry about your loss, I lost dad last year in February and Mom has dementia.....terrible.
God bless you and give you strength to it all.
@@AllisonLong-r9oso sorry for your loss. May God give you strength, comfort and peace in your trying times❤
So sorry for your loss, Laura has a way of helping us thru these sad times. If you go to the Garden Answer channel and type in “Oak leaf hydrangea and Rose of Sharon” Laura has information there on how to care for these plants. Good luck and God Bless you.
Thank you for the refresher video. It's always great to remind us what we need to do with our tools.
Good morning all have a safe and blessed day ❤️
Hi Laura, we look forward to watching your videos every day and you have inspired us to transform our garden.
For this video, 34:47 I think you forgot to add that little tiny washer piece back. It looked like it was still on the towel when you were finishing up the video.
Hi Laura,
I have a beautiful garden this year, all thanks to you.
Q: Can you please make a video on ‘ flower planters started from seed(filler, thriller etc)’
Thank you
Thank you so much, Laura, for showing us how to maintain pruners. I love your show!❤️
Thank You for showing us in detail how to clean felco's!! It always bears repeating! I have to share with you, I live in Wisconsin, zone 5a. Yesterday while raking leaves, I found a rose bush blooming, and my vinca groundcover is blooming beautiful purple flowers! Unheard of for November here!! What a crazy gardening year it's been!!
Perfect timing. I was just looking at my Felcos yesterday and thinking it was time to clean them and put them away for the season. Now I don’t have to search back for your other video. Thank you for the refresher.
Thank you for inspiring me to clean my pruners. I am embarrassed to say I have forgotten mine outside in the rain and have bought new ones every other season or so. I appreciate all the education your channel provides.
Very helpful and informative. I'm still nervous and intimidated about cleaning the pruners, but one day I'll give it a try. 😅❤
The mums are just gorgeous! So nice to see buds and flowers at this time of year. Thanks for the cleaning and sharpening tutorial. Since my husband has died it’s up to me to do this extra job, so it was a great help to be able to pause and practice the sharpening with you.
Thank you so much for prompting, reminding me, encouraging me to get out and cut back .. I was gonna go out in garden today and just didn’t have the impetus but you reminded me to go ahead .. so tomorrow I’m out there with my wellies and thick jacket and pruners 🙌 I haven’t had any time to watch but today thought I’d see where you are with your garden (cos was thinking of getting out there) and was surprised that in a short while your weather has gone from really hot to autumnal 😧 live in UK btw
So fun to be able to make arrangements at the end if the year with mums in the high tunnels
Blowing out sprinklers!!! Are you going to do a video on how to Winterize the drip systems? Like- what do you do about the little 1/4 inch lines ? Leave them? wrap them? HELP!
Leave them after your system has been blown out.
You inspire me and surprise me all the time with all the different things that you come up with to show us and to teach us there are so many things that I never ever would have even thought about like when to trim certain plants if it's better in the fall or the spring or either and just some useful information about mold and all different kinds of stuff. Thank you so much and I will always continue to watch you. And just by watching you I almost feel like that I'm doing some of those things
You are such a great teacher. Also, after your videos come out I usually go out and clean up your suggestions. So on my To-Do list today? Peonies and Hosta and clean my tools!
Laura, you an amazing teacher! Thank you.
Good Morning! 🍁 When our area rain stops, I plan on continuing my cut back & clean up! I am glad you are doing the refresher on cleaning Felcos! Benjamin is having so much fun! Wish I had room for high tunnels! Now I need to go clean my Felcos! ✂️🪴🧼🌿🍂
Another fabulous video! Thank you so much! I too am learning so much and thank you for renewing my love of gardening!💕
I noticed that you saved a Lisianthus plant from your cut flower garden and you mentioned in this video that you would like to start Lisianthus early this year in your high tunnel. I experimented with taking cuttings from some Lisianthus and had great success with rooting them (with rooting hormone, of course)! Since they take so long to grow from seed, this would get you so much further ahead and much earlier blooms! My next experiment is overwintering them in Zone 5b/6a😊
Oh I need to do my felcos thanks for doing this. I saved the video so you can help me put them back together 🤪I can take stuff apart all day long. 😂
Peonies are gorgeous for a week or two in spring for me i am in Maryland. This video was right on time! My Peonies are full of white mildew i was considering digging them up and trashing. I will not give up on them because they are lovely. Thank you Laura for sharing your knowledge.
I just got a pair of felcos for my birthday, I'm actually so greatfull for this vid Laura. Thankyou
Thanks for the reminder. I need to clean my Felcos. They are one of my favorite tools to use in the garden.
The 980 spray is a must have for all pruners. Any time my Felcos are ‘sticky’ I give them a good spritz with the 980 spray and they’re back to new. I wipe off any gunk and keep going. Highly recommend for a quick on-the-go cleaning when you don’t have time for a good deep clean.
Thanks for going into such detail on disassembly and esp on putting back together! Definitely worth the effort. Keeping necessary tools bundled is a great hint for saving time! I can take anything apart, but reverse not so much!
Enjoyed the colors that are peeking as well as the cutting back guide. It’s windy for sure out by you, but the audio is just fine. No worries. Those high tunnels…wow they really hold up in that wind. Hopefully they will handle your snowfall as well.
Thank you so much for the cleaning demo, it's such an important step in garden maintenance, and something most of us forget.
Thank you so much for the refresher on cleaning pruners. Now that our garden is ready for the fall/winter season, it reminded me to add pruner cleanup to my garden to-do list this month.
The lit tree is going to be spectacular. I can’t wait to see it. And your property for Christmas. Oh my goodness. 💜💜🎄🎄🌹🌹🌹
Thank you for the tool cleaning reminder! Such good information! I am a florist, and I have an amazing pruner/ clipper that I love to use (Felcos are on the top of my Christmas list😉). My question is... do you think the Felco brand products, such as the cleaners, grease, and sharpening tool, would be a "universal" type product that I can use on a pruner that is not a Felco brand? I remember when I purchased that tool, I was told that it could be disassembled for maintenance. I just have been too scared to attempt it. But, after watching today's updated instructional video, I feel very confident I can handle it. I do feel very drawn to support Garden Answer and want to purchase the necessary cleaning supplies from your store. Thank you for any information you can offer, and I fully understand and respect that your knowledge lies mostly on Felco tools. I appreciate you.♡
I’m sure it would work fine. Just my opinion
Here's her earlier video on cleaning her pruners th-cam.com/video/e1u5hJTuz1A/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Hi
Fantastic clean up. Tell Aaron his lawns and maintenance are AWESOME 💞💯
A great video today on clean up in garden which l find so rewarding.l do both times winter and spring for tidy up.a bit in both seasons really
Great video Laura! I need to clean my felcos so bad 😞. You are not alone. Thanks for the lesson, I have seen it every time you showed it but never cleaned it, oh boy that's really bad. I will this winter.
Blessings 💞🙏🏻🤗
Ps. The tree Aaron wrapped up in lights it's gorgeous at night!
Mine are at least 25 years old and never cleaned. I’m feeling shame at my lack of diligence.
Oooh, that coral berry is BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your gardens. I have been cleaning my pruners since i saw your first video on cleaning, and yes, i use water, but oil the pruners after i dry them, so no worries of rust. It is so satisfying. I also have a small sharpener similar to yours and love sharpening the pruners. They can cut paper afterward. Have already cleaned up my hostas and peonies weeks ago, for we are a little cooler here, zone 4b ontario canada 🇨🇦. Thank you again. Hope you are having a wonderful day. 😊
I enjoyed watching you clean and reassemble the pruner.❤
I love your choice of background music. So comforting
Thanks for the updated Felco tutorial, it's so helpful. I love watching your channel and I continue to learn so much from you.
Love the refresher on cleaning Felco’s need to clean mine. The tree is beautiful - thanks
Thank you for the motivation today. My kids and I are heading out to do some fall cleanup 😍
I love watching GA it's one of the only podcasts that I watch everyday
Outstanding lesson on maintaining Felco pruners!
Thank you for the repeat Felco cleanup portion! Seen the past videos, but each Fall this is a great reminder!
Thank you for the reminder of what needs to be pruned back this time of yr
Thank you for the helpful felco maintenance video. It's a good feeling to store felcos clean and sharp for spring.
Ordering my supplies from GA!😊

It kills me seeing all those plants in the high tunnels! You’ve got SO MUCH SPACE out in the gardens that all these could fit. Maybe I’m wrong but I feel like you’re creating more work by having to maintain these plants in their pots all winter. Anyway glad the end walls are up, still so happy with all the projects that have been done this season! ❤🌱
I have everything to clean my Felco pruners, just keep procrastinating. I bought the heavy duty cleaner from your store months ago, this video is a good reminder to get it done! 😊
Fall Season -- Everything looks Like Fall!! Four Seasons -- Is so exciting to experience with your Videos -- looking forward to Christmas Lights and Decorations this Year!! Your lighted tree is so Beautiful -- Thanks for showing at night time!! Noticed your Red Barn again when you were at the High Tunnels and maybe - possibly - you might decorate it with lights or something for Christmas!! Really liking your Red Barn!! Garden Answer Team and all your Families have a Good Weekend!!
Laura you’re one of the best, instructional informative people out there. Couldn’t drink my coffee ☕️ without watching you guys. Thanks for the really nice show. 😊 Your hi tunnels end caps looks wonderful. ❤
Laura , I love your beautiful gardens . It makes me want a bigger yard to plant more in my gardens 🏡
I cut many grasses and bring inside to keep in a vase. Love it!
Love Garden Answer and all the help and encouragement I've received over the years!
Great video. Love the high tunnels great job Paul and Bethany. They look amazing. The FELCOS look so much better. Thank again for sharing this with us. Appreciated.💯💯💯🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
