So much more impressive than Steenhuisen of the DA . Although I have mostly voted for the DA in the past, this time my national vote is for BOSA, and the Provincial vote for the DA who clearly have the only successful track record of governing. I hope that I will see a BOSA inspired and partially led future national administration as a well-educated 72 year old white male.

@masauso100 HZ never wanted Mmusi to leave the DA and in fact asked him repeatedly to stay on in Parliament after he resigned!
I think Mmusi 's emotions got the better of him and he made a bad decision, which hurt both him and the DA!!
His star would definitely have risen again if he has stayed on in the DA, due to his many talents and charisma!!

This guy is a great orator and thinker. I think he wants a European/American model of democracy for South Africa. I think he is more on the conservative side than the democratic side of political viewpoints. I agree that he will side with private interests to maintain their economic power over the nature resources and control of the economy with an agreement that they have to fund the expansion of government to make schools more equitable, invest in infrastructure, keep land under privatization but invest in government land, and other initiatives which will keep the status quo overall. I think he personally will not be corrupt but will not challenge the massive corporate corruption cabals which exist in the country. So overall I think he could help SA move forward somewhat but the basic structure of the government will stay the same.

I really do not understand this mantra people sing that oppositions must unite. Mmusi himself left the ANC and joined the DA, not the PAC, AZAPO, UDM, IFP not even the ACDP as he a staunch Christian.
This is not attack to Mmusi, he is my fellow kasie man, we grew up together e Dobsie(Dobsonville) and Mmusi is a decent human being, even though he left i kasie he is still down to earth, I really love him as a person.
However, I am driving a point that there is a reason why the thinking that opposition parties must unite does not not make sense.
Let me draw the attention again to Mmusi, he left the DA with Trollip and Mashaba followed, Mashaba and others established ActionSA, they invited Trollip and Mmusi, Trollip join the ActionSA whilst Mmusi did not accept the invitation. Why?
Why did Mmusi not unite with Mashaba, and then expect that they can better unite after Mmusi has formed a party, a party that has differeces with both the DA and the ActionSA, and both these parties have differences with the EFF, PAC, ATM and AZAPO?
The answer is simple, parties reflects our societies but totally exaggerated the dufferences we have as a society and makes it very difficult to deal with them and or resolve.
This reminds me of the phyicists trying to find a theory of everything, tha explains the physics of the entire universe in a single equation. Maybe there is but I doubt that.
I would not want to go in the obvious ideological challenges when it comes to why the opposition will never unite without compromising they core political principles, eg immigration, reposession/expropriation of the land, BEE, etc.
Another issue that this topic of uniting the opposition ignore, is the dynamics of their constituencies, one may ask, is it the masses that call for a unity of the opposition, or the elites and their media.
The majority of our masses are indebted to the ANC and or the view politics different, to some of them is a matter of Pirates and Chiefs, this then needs unbaised systems out of the political parties to make them aware of how they should change the way they view politics and political parties.
Without making the masses aware that political parties are like supermarkets, no costumer who wants to save money and get the best deal on their shopping should tell themselves that, no matter what, they will buy at Checkers even if its prices have gone up.
The citizens must be taught not allow political parties own them, they should be neutral and then be convinced by facts on who to vote for, instead of joining political parties, because if they do, they will loose their honest judgement and defend a party no matter what.
This is the problem, not the opposition, the problem is that political parties operates not like salesmen but like gangsters, recruiting people to join them as if people are homogeneous and everyone must agree with everything in their political party.
The second problem is the mult-party system which encourages the mushrooming of many political parties. Anyone can create a political party and register it.
The last problem is how democracy is run internationally which makes it undemocratic, ie commercializing democracy, only the ideas of those parties with funding can be heard, and those that are ignored or are nit attracting the funders are not heard.
Commercialising democracy is destorts democracy, removes equity in a democratic process and worst it opens up political parties to be captured by thise they are suppose to regulate in behalf of the citizens.
The problem is not that oppositions lacks unity, that is why BOSA, EFF etc was established, because it did not agree with the udeas of ActionSA, UDM, ACDP etc.
They can unite all they like, but they must remember that not even once the unity of the opposition has ever successfully passed any resolution against the ruling party, united they failed to win a Yes vote against Ramaphosa in parliament.

That's a scientific and well thought of analysis of the SA politics, what made him to choose a party that is ideologically opposed to fredom of our people. I still maintain, I do not see a liberator, instead a pacifier in anything and/ or anyone related to DA. That is why that even parties like Inkatha will lose a lot for association with people who are anti equity, and not the European defined freedom of tar road politics and load-shedding. You will get free potholes streets then what? Our problems are not service delivery related, insteda ideologically related. A country told by Europeans not to use coal to generate, yet it is importing the same coal. Thise are treu issues in Soith Africa, not the Wimpy discussions these politicians are entertaining with the people who think like them.

i agree that parties must unite. if parties are power hungry, then that party cannot lead South Africa. If a party brings division, chaos or disorder, then you are not fit to lead South Africa. If however parties are willing to restore, fix and correct laws (especially schools) and above all...parties that can work together to restore ....then we have hope for this land. MEDIA MUST DRIVE THESE CONVERSATIONS. Power hungry, greedy leaders. who are there for themselve...must be removed...they must fall
