Artist Highlight: Joe Chirchirillo

Artist Joe Chirchirillo has been creating sculpture since the early 1970s. However, after moving from Jersey City, NJ to North Bennington, VT just over a decade ago, his focus has increasingly shifted to outdoor sculpture. His piece, "Earth Arch," which is currently on display at LaSalle Square in Downtown Providence, is part of a series of concrete sculptures that blend architecture and nature. "I am interested in finding architectural order emerging from nature and translating that into sculpture," he explains. "My goal is to build pieces that are expressive, interesting and also have structural integrity and will withstand the elements."
