This lady is very pretty and she looks magnificent in that dress. She looks like she belongs back in that day. And the dress just fits her to a tee. And it's actually a really pretty dress. I'm not fond of the colors but on this lady it looks gorgeous. 👏👏👏
Corset covers could be worn. They’re a totally optional garment. The layers worn are always personal preference. A corset cover can be a nice option if your corset shows through your dress, or if you need an extra layer. If you don’t need one, they’re fine to omit, as they add an extra layer of both bulk and warmth when worn.
I don't understand why so many people hate the 'natural form era'. I think from all of the victorian fashion eras, this is the most beautiful. I mean, really, look at how elegant, sophisticated and soft the silhouette of this era is. And with those trains OMG! It's just a short phase in the middle of bustle craziness that I think is unique and deserves a lot more recognitions.

As I said above I think people tend to forget the NFE bcs it's in the middle of two bustles, but this is actually a 'gem'. I just love its streamline, long and soft silhouette. Especially with the shallow square (it's actually more trapezoidal) neckline, which I think looks so elegant for ladies' dress. The same goes to 1908/9-1914 with its long, narrow and soft curve. And the 'hobble skirt', I LOVE IT.

These kinds of dresses are incredibly intricate and time-consuming to make, so it would be hard to find a decent quality replica. It would also be super expensive, probably around $500-2000 for materials and labor. A website that sells cheaper reproduction outfits is recollections.biz/ It’s a bit hit or miss when it comes to historical accuracy, but it’s pretty nice for costumes and special occasions! One more thing to keep in mind is that without all the historical undergarments, the dress ensemble will fit, look, and move much differently. I hope you find the dress of your dreams!!
since most victorian homes had no or minimal proper closets and multiple dresses of the fashion were not going to fit in an armoir/wardrobe, where did the ladies maids store the lady's dresses? was there a room just for this?
Maria Luísa Filártiga Actually, this is very accurate. The undergarments are most definitely not anything remotely close to 1780s undergarments. The shape and style are completely different. This is a very well-done example of 1880s fashion.
