    Yeah mate, good idea. It's a job on my to-do list when our van turns up. We'll be using some shop bought drapes, cut them to size & take to the drycleaners to stitch up neatly. Great video 👊🏽

    Brilliant Vlog as usual, I thought about doing this mod to our Campervan when we eventually take our delayed delivery of our Expedition 67 in July....Btw have you ever thought about going into comedy , you're so funny and have us in stitches....🤣😂😅

    Interesting concept and can see why you wanted to do it, it's a good alternative to the screen covers and you did a neat job so we would say it's a good idea 👍 also liked your pop stud fitting technique to line it all up, good tip that! But we really hope Julie doesn't watch that video 😂

    It looks neat that, we did the same with a thermal blackout curtain from Ikea but we used 1 inch squares of self adhesive velcro to hold it on instead of press studs. You will notice a difference with the heat but we still get some condensation on the screen in the morning.

    • @TravellingfromScratch
      @TravellingfromScratch  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Colin. It was my prototype. I will improve the idea and make it work. Thanks for the info on keeping the heat in. Does it help with the condensation or does it make no difference at all? I will find out in future tests but thanks for sharing your observations. 👍🏻

      @@TravellingfromScratch Doesn't make a lot of difference for the condensation but we still close the front blinds as well. The cab area feels cold though, when you take the curtain away.

    Hi Ian. Looks like a very useful and sensible mod, and you've done a very tidy and professional job on it. Enjoyed the "juggling" with the press studs and were expecting a "head bump" at anytime as you dived under the table ! As far as what others think of this mod, or indeed any of the things you've done in your van is concerned, I wouldn't pay much attention to that. As long as you feel they add to your comfort and enjoyment of using your van, that's really all that matters - and anyhow, the changes you've showed us all make sense. Thanks again, especially for revealing your hidden juggling skills " Take care. George and Trish - CaravanningMacs

    I think it’s a great idea! I’m always worried about people looking into the van when it’s parked up and that’s a great idea for privacy. It might also stop my dogs from barking at other dogs when they pass the van. I`m going for a 5.4m van with a front lounge like the Autosleeper Symbol so it might not work when we’re in the van but I’ll keep it in mind for when we park up. Thanks for sharing.

    Good idea I think I will do something similar as I quite often wild camp/stealth camp in the city and tend to leave my cab blinds open so it is not obvious that I’m sleeping in the vehicle. Also sounds like it could be a big help with keeping heat in and out, winter summer respectively . Think I’ll use Press studs across the top and self adhesive Velcro sides and bottom. Thanks for planting the idea 🤗

  • @barr0ld

    Really enjoyed watching this Ian, although I don't think it would eliminate all condensation unless it reached the floor and created a better seal.
    But it's a brilliant idea; simple, easy to execute, and relatively inexpensive and as you say, it will help keep the heat in the hab area in the winter and out during the summer.
    And you're right; it's your van, and its what you think that matters. That said, you need to keep Julie sweet, and mentioning this mod might keep her out of the van cracked me up 🤣

    I have a Luton style motorhome with a huge overcab area. I have a pair of Amazon thermal curtains hanging from the van roof to the floor, keeping the heat in the van and out of overcab Also, I have a blackout curtain from the driver's cab roof to the floor attached with velcro. And as the van came with interior silver screens I use them. Recently I had to move at 2200 hours, very easy, put on reverse camera, remove silver screens and drive off, other curtains in place.

  • @timcx
    @timcx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Looks good but I am not sure about the condensation, its probably mainly come for your breathing and assuming you keep breathing ;-) it will still be there so I think you will probably find it condenses somewhere in the hab area I woudl keep a lookout for damp areas elsewhere in the van probably the back corners, you don't want it to start soaking into the mattress or the woodwork.

    • @TravellingfromScratch
      @TravellingfromScratch  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely right time. I will keep an eye out. I usually leave a skylight open slightly or leave the window at the head of the bed open slightly. It only opens a tiny amount so it doesn’t get hit by the sliding door. My sliding door doesn’t open all the way anyway as I have put a little gadget on to stop it opening all the way. I made a video about that if you want to check it out. It’s really useful. Anyway… I will be keeping an eye on the condensation side of things and I will probably buy a dehumidifier soon. Thanks for the advice though Tim. Really appreciate the feedback. 👍🏻

      We’ve fitted the curtain behind the seats on two vans, mainly as they didn’t have screen blinds. Our Signature CV60 has them now.
