The jailor inno’d and exed pipe because he knew he had won either way. And if pipe had guiltied the jest it is highly likely they would have roulette it or killed the surv for the lols because they had also won. I would have been a bit salty about it all.

The jester love trend needs to be calmed. I’ve noticed a trend of townies game throwing because you won’t hand jester a win. I was confirmed sheriff and I told vigi to shoot confirmed jest and they shot me and when they died of guilt they said in the graveyard “worth, why try to kill a jest?”

That jailor... 1- You can't be so clear about giving jest their win if you won't take the risk yourself. What did jest do to deserve the win anyways? 2- If you really wanna risk it and give the jest their win and be polite, you can't blame surv for innoing. They didn't tell you to do that. 3- Surv's only goal is to SURVIVE to see the end of the game and it shouldn't be so hard to get it. 17:39 I don't think it matters if the CL controls you anywere, you still use your vest and you can always survive their attack with a vest. If a doc tries to heal themselfs but CL controls them somewhere esle than yes, the doctor is gonna die, i think if CL controls non visiting roles (Vet or Surv) it cannot stop their ability.
I feel like way too many of these "random occurrences" are just the players stream sniping and doing stupid stuff for content. Way too many people whispering nonsense to a surv that can't do much to affect the game early. Jailor gamethrowing and being petty to own the random surv claim. You don’t have an argument here and you clearly do not understand why people are upset.

That’s literally what gamethrowing is. You play to win as your faction, in which case Jailor could have won it for town. Whether or not Jailor won doesn’t matter, it’s whether he could have won as the town faction. If there was another killing role and Jailor executed them and asked to be converted then that isn’t throwing because Jailor could not win that in situation. Town could have won in this situation but Jailor threw instead of trying to win as town, which was absolutely possible.
The rules of the game. You can't throw your current role, in this case town, to win in a different one. An example given is explicitly this "Players are not to go against their current goal in hopes of being converted into a Vampire."
Imagine if you get a GA that have confirmed themselves and instead of trying protect their target till the very end, they outed your role and purposely get you lynched so they can become surv and win with a different faction. Technically they still won, do you not count that as game throwing?

You have to play to win for your currently held win condition, even if you're the only one on the team. It is game throwing to go against your alignment, even if its in pursuit of a win condition you can possibly have, because that would require a different alignment.

Here is why: They had a guaranteed victory as a town, but wanted jest to win. They got everyone to vote them up, which a surv would never do if they just wanted to win, so far, so good! The surv cannot risk a guilty, their only goal in life is to live. So they need to convince the surv to guilty, that it is a safe thing to do. Or at the very least, let them inno and both let them out of that conundrum. But instead of that, the jailor inno'd, how should he proceed there? Well, if he want to be a nice person and not throw, jail the vamp but don't exe, try to get the jest a victory again the next day. Or just exe the vamp and win without throwing with surv. But what did they do? They exe'd the surv! How does that leave our poor jailor? Well, 2 things can happen: Scenario 1: both jest and surv lose and they get a vamp victory, which is what happened in this game and is gamethrowing since they "threw their town victory away for the vamp victory". In which case the player still wins, although being quite a jerk. Scenario 2: the vamp decides that screw that! I'm gonna give jester a vamp win! And converted then, to only then either lynch the jailor or convert them on the next day. So, giving up a guaranteed win for a 50/50. So, overall their decision is quite clear, they gave up their guaranteed town victory to screw over a surv. If they didn't do anything, all 4 could've won as vamps. Or if they did just kill the vamp, the game would've ended in a fine and straightforward manner. Town wins with surv. I personally consider this as toxic, if not even more toxic, than having a thematic grouping in which you should prioritize when playing a role. But that's why personal opinions exist, we can disagree on that front and it'll still be fine.

ToS is a social game based on social deduction and deception, whilst tf2 is kind of a sandbox shooter mix. But why is that important to point out? Well, in ToS roles are meant to be more centralizing than in tf2. Since it's a social deduction game, you cannot count that the people that claim to be on your team are actually on your team. And interactions between factions become more apparent. In ToS, there are those that: Win with their own faction - town, coven, vamps, mafia, sk and arso Win with a specific faction - GA Win against a specific faction - classic mode witch Win by themselves - pest, jugg, WW Win by transforming - pb, amne Win with anyone by completing a task - Exe, jest, surv, pirate As you can see, the roles pay a big part in how you should achieve your victory, and the interaction between them becomes a lot more nuanced. Let's compare it to how tf2 does it: You have 9 classes, medic, soldier, spy, demoman, heavy, engineer, sniper, scout and pyro. Which can be generally categorized into 3 main roles: Offensive/rushdown - Pyro, Scout and Soldier Defensive - Demoman, Heavy, Engineer Support - Medic, Sniper, Spy Why am I mentioning this? Well, as you already know, this is a very superficial categorization. Classes are not constricted in their respective roles. Ninjaneering is a very niche but offensive/supportive usage of the engineer class, for example. And it's all due to the focus of game! Tf2 prioritizes customization over classification. You can change your weapon and abilities to match your game style, without changing or interfering with your own win condition. Not only that, but with the exception of a really good spy player, you always know who to trust in your team, and can always count that they're playing on your side. Imagine if in tf2 you didn't know who was in your team, and had only 1 life and only one way of achieving your win condition, it would be a very different game. Not only that, but the level of customization of tf2 allows you to make pretty much anything, a lot of unique and unexpected niches can come up from a single change, that's why I called it a sandbox shooter. So, overall, I don't think that the games are comparable in that sense, they're very different and unique. The jester love trend needs to be calmed. I’ve noticed a trend of townies game throwing because you won’t hand jester a win. I was confirmed sheriff and I told vigi to shoot confirmed jest and they shot me and when they died of guilt they said in the graveyard “worth, why try to kill a jest?”

1- You can't be so clear about giving jest their win if you won't take the risk yourself. What did jest do to deserve the win anyways?
2- If you really wanna risk it and give the jest their win and be polite, you can't blame surv for innoing. They didn't tell you to do that.
3- Surv's only goal is to SURVIVE to see the end of the game and it shouldn't be so hard to get it. Like it doesn't require any high IQ points to understand or anything.
3- You can't exe a surv when theres a confirmed vamp and intentionally gamethrow.
4- You're giving jester their win but taking survivor's win chance from them just because they innoed a confirmed jester.

17:39 I don't think it matters if the CL controls you anywere, you still use your vest and you can always survive their attack with a vest. If a doc tries to heal themselfs but CL controls them somewhere esle than yes, the doctor is gonna die, i think if CL controls non visiting roles (Vet or Surv) it cannot stop their ability.
I feel like way too many of these "random occurrences" are just the players stream sniping and doing stupid stuff for content. Way too many people whispering nonsense to a surv that can't do much to affect the game early. Jailor gamethrowing and being petty to own the random surv claim. It has become more and more painful to watch some of these games with the childish and obvious clout chasing of the players. We can only believe so much.

Pipe losing or not isn’t what’s bad, it’s that Jailor could have won _as_ town and that’s what the game emphasizes you to do. Jailor threw the game as town, which is considered a gamethrow by the game itself. There’s a tip that even mentions being converted when unnecessary is a gamethrow. You don’t have an argument here and you clearly do not understand why people are upset.
It was a game on stream, Pipe removed them from his friends list and banned him from any more viewer games, so essentially the same thing as him getting his account banned.

correct me if I'm wrong, but guaranteed win for jailor here is don't lynch jest and exe vamp right? let's say he just did an oopsie unknowingly and lynched the jest, again correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is not smart because unless jest goes for vamp and jailor jails vamp town loses (even though jailor can win as vamp which would still be throwing for town) but that either way here is just a mistake and not being an ass, it happens
they inno the jest (which *should* be the objectively correct choice because you don't want them lynched or town has a risk of losing whereas not lynching them is a guaranteed win if you exe vamp) and jest doesn't get lynched, now all jailor has to do is exe vamp and win but they decide to exe the surv for wanting to not risk dying which is their sole objective

Jailor sucks for throwing the town win, but to be fair. It's like getting exe and instead of trying to get your target lynched you wait for them to die so you win a different way, maybe he needed 25 vamp wins.

That’s literally what gamethrowing is. You play to win as your faction, in which case Jailor could have won it for town. Whether or not Jailor won doesn’t matter, it’s whether he could have won as the town faction.
If there was another killing role and Jailor executed them and asked to be converted then that isn’t throwing because Jailor could not win that in situation. Town could have won in this situation but Jailor threw instead of trying to win as town, which was absolutely possible.
The rules of the game. You can't throw your current role, in this case town, to win in a different one. An example given is explicitly this "Players are not to go against their current goal in hopes of being converted into a Vampire."

Imagine if you get a GA that have confirmed themselves and instead of trying protect their target till the very end, they outed your role and purposely get you lynched so they can become surv and win with a different faction. Technically they still won, do you not count that as game throwing?
@@Snapcracklepop12 You count that as gamethrowing. The goal of the GA is to keep your target alive until the end of the game. So voting up your target or guiltying on them goes explicitly against your goal of keeping them alive.

You have to play to win for your currently held win condition, even if you're the only one on the team. It is game throwing to go against your alignment, even if its in pursuit of a win condition you can possibly have, because that would require a different alignment.

May I just say tho, what in the actual f***. Its no wonder there are so few players these days! The best part of any game I play is allways the casual element, I love it when someone takes a step back from competitively pushing every advantage to embracing a funny joke.
I've legit seen someone named pacifist sk out every other evil and then politely ask town to hang himself, moments where a player embraces a detriment to winning in favor of fun are the reason why tf2 will NEVER die.
I understand throwing to spite other players being bad, but if you're the only one harmed there shouldn't be consequences for that.
Not to mention town of Salem players generally stay bad at the game because how are you supposed to learn when every time you make a mistake you're ousted by everyone for it?
Game throwing is a subjective term that is often indistinguishable from failed strategies, is a jester banking on town questioning him for being a silent town inves throwing because town isnt smatt enough to push him?
This is a social deduction game! Actions that aid or hinder your win conditions vary based on the town! Usally in ways you cant forsee until after the fact! That jailor may have thought he was really the vamp, there are so many different scenarios where an honest mistake can be branded as gamethrowing, _and that sickens me._
Screw the devs for supporting such a toxic learning environment, I've played the game 4 years and never knew you're supposed to play to win as starting role, not to just get a win in general.
@@An_Average_Arsonist Well, although i do agree with you on the manner that ToS players are a bit too competitive and on reporting players for having fun, in the video the jailor still threw the game only to spite the surv. Here is why:
They had a guaranteed victory as a town, but wanted jest to win. They got everyone to vote them up, which a surv would never do if they just wanted to win, so far, so good!
The surv cannot risk a guilty, their only goal in life is to live. So they need to convince the surv to guilty, that it is a safe thing to do. Or at the very least, let them inno and both let them out of that conundrum.
But instead of that, the jailor inno'd, how should he proceed there? Well, if he want to be a nice person and not throw, jail the vamp but don't exe, try to get the jest a victory again the next day. Or just exe the vamp and win without throwing with surv.
But what did they do? They exe'd the surv!
How does that leave our poor jailor? Well, 2 things can happen:
Scenario 1: both jest and surv lose and they get a vamp victory, which is what happened in this game and is gamethrowing since they "threw their town victory away for the vamp victory". In which case the player still wins, although being quite a jerk.
Scenario 2: the vamp decides that screw that! I'm gonna give jester a vamp win! And converted then, to only then either lynch the jailor or convert them on the next day. So, giving up a guaranteed win for a 50/50.
So, overall their decision is quite clear, they gave up their guaranteed town victory to screw over a surv. If they didn't do anything, all 4 could've won as vamps. Or if they did just kill the vamp, the game would've ended in a fine and straightforward manner. Town wins with surv.
I personally consider this as toxic, if not even more toxic, than having a thematic grouping in which you should prioritize when playing a role. But that's why personal opinions exist, we can disagree on that front and it'll still be fine.

ToS is a social game based on social deduction and deception, whilst tf2 is kind of a sandbox shooter mix. But why is that important to point out?
Well, in ToS roles are meant to be more centralizing than in tf2. Since it's a social deduction game, you cannot count that the people that claim to be on your team are actually on your team. And interactions between factions become more apparent.
In ToS, there are those that:
Win with their own faction - town, coven, vamps, mafia, sk and arso
Win with a specific faction - GA
Win against a specific faction - classic mode witch
Win by themselves - pest, jugg, WW
Win by transforming - pb, amne
Win with anyone by completing a task - Exe, jest, surv, pirate
As you can see, the roles pay a big part in how you should achieve your victory, and the interaction between them becomes a lot more nuanced. Let's compare it to how tf2 does it:
You have 9 classes, medic, soldier, spy, demoman, heavy, engineer, sniper, scout and pyro. Which can be generally categorized into 3 main roles:
Offensive/rushdown - Pyro, Scout and Soldier
Defensive - Demoman, Heavy, Engineer
Support - Medic, Sniper, Spy
Why am I mentioning this? Well, as you already know, this is a very superficial categorization. Classes are not constricted in their respective roles. Ninjaneering is a very niche but offensive/supportive usage of the engineer class, for example. And it's all due to the focus of game!
Tf2 prioritizes customization over classification. You can change your weapon and abilities to match your game style, without changing or interfering with your own win condition. Not only that, but with the exception of a really good spy player, you always know who to trust in your team, and can always count that they're playing on your side.
Imagine if in tf2 you didn't know who was in your team, and had only 1 life and only one way of achieving your win condition, it would be a very different game.
Not only that, but the level of customization of tf2 allows you to make pretty much anything, a lot of unique and unexpected niches can come up from a single change, that's why I called it a sandbox shooter.
So, overall, I don't think that the games are comparable in that sense, they're very different and unique.
