Oddly, these type of videos are some of my favorites. Real, raw and relatable. That card dead, fish filled sessions where you’re spot dead even if you get “reasonable” hands is something we all go through. Keep it up Doug, you’ll be on the other side frying fish again soon
I hope so, I know that there are plenty of days like this. I only wish I played slightly better, I would probably still lose. At least I wouldn’t feel like I gave it away.
16:50 I did the something the same with tens yesterday…frustrating poor play on me. Left up 100. Shame but a small profit is better than a loss or big loss. Didn’t go on tilt preceded to play solid poker as this happened early this in session. Moral victory! Also sorry bt. Not having chips when you finally were bt to leave tbh I been card dead my last two sessions forget what qq kk aa looks like 😂. Thanks for the vlogs it’s making me a more solid stable player. Tomorrow no work putting in a long session.
We have all failed to stack-up when we are about to leave Doug. And, how many times have you put your chips into a rack, and lose it all on the last hand. we are human and mistakes come with being one. Keep Vloging, WE APPRECIATE YOU as well.
Thanks, I debated with myself about adding, but decided it wasn’t my day and to come back when I was playing better. Of course I was awarded AA when short stacked just to rub it in.
Great video and very educational (the honesty and thought process of all hands noting mistakes which is incredibly hard to play perfect) my mistake is booking my largest session win ever and than not playing for ten days..however studying small stakes nlhm harder than ever investing in content like yours and a new book. I suppose I really want to understand ranges and gto at a higher level…tomorrow or Sunday it’s game time.
There is a lot of good material out there to study ranges and such. At the lower stakes, it is not as important because so many players make huge errors. Hard to create ranges when someone is playing too many hands. Looking for tells underrated.
The drive from Sacramento to Lake Tahoe is Highly Recommended for anyone going to Tahoe. Fly into Sacramento and drive to Tahoe. The altitude change and scenery is incredible. Good stuff, Doug 🤙🤙
Gotta be going bigger than 25 when there are multiple limpers and you get 3 to 4 callers. Keep increasing the bet size until you are getting it heads up.
The fallacy in judgment is to think any player with a flush draw, esp one with a higher card to fold to any bet on the flop at a 1-3 table. Usually, It's a bet to build the pot in hopes that they chase and miss.
In a game where I've seen people call off $700 pre flop with 2's. I would raise pre flop way higher. Especially if they are on tilt. They don't fold much at the Capitol.
Doug, do you do the fake club check on purpose?? I'm on 7:56 right now. Good luck with the rest of the session. 😊 I played my D game as well, Doug. I lost $600. I knew I wasn't supposed to play tired and did anyway. Gettem next time, buddy.
Oh well, just shows you are human. This reenforces my normal play of never having enough chips at the beginning of a hand. Frustrating when folks gather trips with hands that should never have called! Better luck next week
I think you just ran into it a bit , shit happens, hope youre well, springtime is real near now here, about time, be safe Doug, give Zeus a hug, regards
Your bet sizes are always too small. On that J10 hand, you bet more, he likely folds. Alternatively, you usually win there so if he does call, it makes his mistake bigger.
Missed the chance to title this "Pobody's Nerfect". A vlog characterized by missed chances, if you will. Speaking of missed things, I notice the goals screen leads with a green light on "Always play solid, no tilt". I assume this was an oversight, rather than an egregious lapse in judgement. 😅 I don't like watching you lose, but I deeply appreciate your candid fellowship. I can't think who I'd rather hear bad beat stories from. Anyway, I'm sure you'll soon be compiling more stories of solid play and success, so I'll enjoy this one as an exotic flavor😋
@@dougmccuskerpoker wow, that is a harrowing thought. Good thing you were able to recover: the vlog didn't feel at all unfinished. But I can feel the gut punch of a crashed project just from you saying it.
I think you actually played that last hand perfectly, just unlucky. More often than not you profit more with the line you did take. Jamming there does get crying calls from flush draws but you always want 45 pumping money into the middle. Run better Doug!
I believe raising flop to charge draws is best. He probably would call a standard size raise, I would need to overbet just to get him to think about folding.
@@dougmccuskerpoker Do you really want 45 off folding there? I'd want that call 100 times out of 100. Sometimes -EV calls work out for folks, all part of the math 😁
He stabbed and I flatted, I feel that charging his stab with a raise is best. Charges the other players that are getting good odds and makes him put more money in bad. I think he would call, so the outcome is the same but he puts more money in bad.
I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT BEING MAD AT YOUR SELF, EVERYTIME I PLAY, I TELL MYSELF, "SELF, YOURE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING STUPID TODAY ARE YOU?" MOST OF THE TIME I DONT. BUT THEN THERE ARE THOSE TIMES I GET IT ALL IN WITH A DRAW OR AN INFERIOR HAND WITH A LARGE OR LARGER STACK THATN MINE & LOSE.
I think the bet on turn with nut flush royal flush draw was a none necessary overplay, in my opinion. Don't you guys have any high hand bonus at that poker club?
@dougmccuskerpoker Not really, out of position, with nut flush, you want to create some weakness illusion. Especially when on flop you bet. You should let's the bluffing window open to your opponent very often and more than ever in this scenario. In case of a check back to river, now you can bet small for EV. When you have the nut, you should search for opportunities not for value cause you have it all.
My fault, Doug - I soaked up all the luck this week hitting a Royal aboard the Icon of The Seas on the Ultimate HE table. You got this week, brother!!🍀👊👍🛳

Good vlog as always. It’s real and raw. Better luck next week !! 🍀
Thanks so much!!
At 3:50: I couldn’t agree more. I probably make more folding than bluffing.
I needed to fold more that day for sure😩
Love the honest reflection of your play. Hang in there.
Recognizing mistakes is the first step in becoming a better player. Fixing the mistakes and holding on to your discipline is the toughest task.
Just ran across you today. I just do the $1/2NLH at stones. People play too loose at Capitol and Thunder Valley, did sub and did learn so thanks!
Paul
Thanks for the sub Paul

Great Vlog, Doug! We all have bad runs from time to time and I know it gets frustrating which leads to mistakes. We live, we learn.
Absolutely! I’m human and bleed when cut. Just need to limit my loss a little better.

@@dougmccuskerpokerAll I could think to myself while watching was “Wow. Wow. Lot of action. Lot. Of. Action.”
You said it, the money you don't lose is a win.
That’s a big key to being a consistent winner
No one took it as a tell that you got ur phone out to record the aces hand 😅
They didn't care, 3 of them were tilted, they were just ready to gamble

On a more profitable note. CLASK is doing really well, so is BITO. I'm thinking of adding to my position for both.
CLSK is my favorite
13:30; what does Zeus say about the spade on the turn play? p.s. Good for you being strong enough to review and post a bad day. 👊
Zeus would probably check the spade turn and hope for a read.

Tahoe is wonderful, but travel this week is treacherous. I’m a fair weather driver.
Wow congratulations.... definitely happy for, it's the best when it happens unexpected.
Definitely!!

good tip, I was so card dead that I wanted a little action on my hands. Another mental error on my part.

True, most chase, but if they do they are getting a horrible price.
👽
😀
Thanks for the content Doug and good luck in the next one…10k should have happened a long time ago, but it’s coming!
Thanks, hopefully we can hit 10k soon. Its just a number, but I have been looking forward to it for years

True
Love ya!
ahh shucks
Now that’s what I call lucky! Hitting the 5of hearts on the river instead of a clubs .that’s poker folks 😊
Yeah, I was drawing dead to a runner runner 😀

I do fake looks often, along with real looks. Have to stay balanced.
Doug when I am card dead I get too frustrated and make bad calls.
I was ready to leave because I knew I wasn’t playing well, then I got AA 😖
Ouch that last hand is just brutal
I haft expected it, the whole day I was zigging when I should have zagged
We all have those days 🙃
Im ready for the run good phase again.
Oh well, just shows you are human. This reenforces my normal play of never having enough chips at the beginning of a hand. Frustrating when folks gather trips with hands that should never have called! Better luck next week
Thanks Mike
Tuff table
Yes it was
Me and my wife went two weekends in a row to Capitol Casino, hoping to see Doug but no luck
Let me know next time you go, I will try to be there
That's a Doyle saying from his first book!
He stole it from me. lol, or did I steal it from him 😀
Card dead? Lol I wish these are the cards I get when I’m card dead. You can’t help certain outcomes lol. It happens. But you can limit it as you know
I caught cards against the short stacks and got smoked against the big ones.
🙁 ouch
that sums it up!
Rough session 😅
Rough sessions make you appreciate the good ones even more.
I think you just ran into it a bit , shit happens, hope youre well, springtime is real near now here, about time, be safe Doug, give Zeus a hug, regards
Thanks Fraser, Zeus is well, he had some tasty prime rib yesterday. He is a happy boy.
Your bet sizes are always too small. On that J10 hand, you bet more, he likely folds. Alternatively, you usually win there so if he does call, it makes his mistake bigger.
I bet a little smaller because there is a $200 bonus for high hand. I was sure I was way ahead.
Better luck next time 😊
Thanks Helen

My computer crashed right before I finished the vlog, I was just happy to recover enough data to complete the video portion.

Never stop playing against this player pool.
It’s a great place to play. Today there was a 1-3 game with 30k+ on the table! Wow!
If you folded for an hour and a half you played well. No monkey tilt. Monkey tilters lost more than you. Guaranteed.
Good vid either way sir.
I leaked a few bets here and there, I could have easily saved a few hundred if I was playing well.
At least now you can be sure what the universe wanted you to do.
A simple text from the universe would have sufficed.
Pobodys nerfect 🤷🏽♂️
lol
on some days the cards TEASE you and test your resolve. keeps one humble.
I was humbled this week 😩
If played correctly +$2000 or more
That AA hand will haunt me for a while.
The last hand with QQ not raising the flop you deserved it
I agree, I need to raise. I don’t think he is folding to a standard size raise. I would need to over bet to get him out.
Algorithm. If it makes you feel better, I played a hand worse yesterday then any of yours. We will get em next time
thanks for the algo
Anyone who states they haven't had a session they regret hasn't played much. But I must agree your card sense was not up to your standards.
True, I was no where near my A game.
First!
Yeah!!

I told myself I should fold a few times, but I didn’t listen 🤷
Nice comedy. If you don’t play a hand in an hour and a half how does anyone not respect your raise?
Three players were tilted, they didn’t care if I sat there for a week without playing.
I think the bet on turn with nut flush royal flush draw was a none necessary overplay, in my opinion. Don't you guys have any high hand bonus at that poker club?
$200 high hand, lost $4 in equity by betting, but I still think betting something has a higher ev.
