  • i have a bunch of sunpak 5xx hammerhead flashes that i almost throw them away. here is how i end up making them useful again for location shooting without portable batteries and the pricey strobes. you should be able to get these flashes for $20 or less on ebay or craigslist

These flashes as well as the Quantum QFlashes, Metz & Vivitar 283/285/285HV flashes are from ATG.
They are actually better than many today TTL flashes.

yep, my 522 has to be close to 30 years old. it still popping and flashing fine with no problem.

@@chuckarelei ATG last models were the 555 and 622. The 622 wasn't a good seller to female photographers due to the weight of the 4 C batteries. We use the 622 & QFlash (ATG) with ATG IR & UV filters on these lights
The Sunpak 622 Pro Complete Set [with ATG (IR & UV) heads] are rare & sold most to armed services & laws.
Once in a awhile you need to fire the flash in 1/1 power to refresh/wake up the capacitor.

@@angelisone i had a 622 and sold it. it was too big and clunky. plus it wasn't interchangeable handle with my four 5xx.
