When at first I died so many times to the Nameless King in Dark Souls 3 to the point where I learned his moveset off by heart. Don't mean to brag but recently I have beaten him on my first try without getting hit on NG+. It's strange that I find a lot of the endgame monsters in Iceborne way harder.
Whenever that happens it's usually when I'm focused on something else like a conversation and then I realize that I played like a God. Usually I just say "what the heck was that? How did I manage this?"
I beat EX Grimclaw using the Houyi with adept Bow. I felt like an absolute beast at the end. Definitely felt like I ascended into another plane of existence. I did not get hit ar all.
My moment was against a kirin in mhw... yeah it demolished me mutiple times, but i kept learning the patterns (and geting stunlocked to death) and finally understood everything about its moves and then blew it up in its sleep.
1:09 that right there is the sole reason why i don't use adept anymore! If a monster has a followup you can get blasted so easely,can't even tell you how many rage quits i had on Ziongre with adept SnS xD Still,soloing an EX Deviant is brutal and you did a great job on it,Astalos is my fave monster as well and he got me so many times with those thunder orbs that go in a zig-zag pattern. Cool video my dude,keep it up!
This fight was absolutely soul crushing for me, finally beating EX boltreaver made me feel like an untouchable hunter. The sheer destructive force and punishing really tests the skill of any one attempting it
I have so much respect for you admitting that this fight was a major challenge and posting an entire video about it. Most people don't talk about the rush you get from the process of learning how to fight a monster, and this video illustrates that very well.
I killed him with valor longsword. The longsword gets a sharpness modifier when you fill up the spirit gauge and it's enough to prevent you from bouncing. I used the DLC white fatty armor as it's the highest defense set in the game and it comes with great thunder resistance. I also ran evasion +2 to roll through his pesky attacks like the lightsaber for free. Also there's a real risk to timing out on him. You know you are close when he instantly gets enraged. Anyway good luck! I hope you get him one day!
I know I'll probably sound like a shrub but I think you will need a meta build (max dps) for boltreaver because of its insane hp and that sharpness 6 charm is pretty good for a meta db build

That's how you learn. I quit on behemot ta rules before for like a month. I came back refreshed and was able to kill it. Also 3u supermonsters took me quite some time lol.
If you ask me, boltreaver EX is the hardest of all variants (with randoms). I mean the quest takes only 10min for four carts. Mostly even less. To do all of MHGU with prowler only was pretty fun, even all EXs, but I don't recommend it ^^´
to me bolt reaver ex is one of the hardest fights in the entire mh series. No other monster has ever given me such a difficult time idk why. None of the either deviants are even remotely as difficult with diablos being close but not quite.
GU is rough for me compared to Word/Iceborne (more in terms of length of hunts) so I'm still working my way to G-rank. It feels like it takes soooo long, but I really want to get to Boltreaver.
Even with my favorite monsters, I typically don't do Ex hunts. I'm satisfied soloing up to EX point. (I had to solo as no one I know had MHXX and my friends only wanted to do Bloodbath....a monster I refuse to fight)

@@AntonioCunningham at that's a shame. Have you tried him though? If there's ever a variant, deviant or subspecies that feels like a COMPLETELY different monster it's bloodbath. And also capcom did a great job of making him actually terrifying. His roars, how he looks, some of his animations... all completely diff from regular Diablos. Would definitely reccomend giving it a chance. But yeah I still haven't forgiven capcom for how they always make the best gear locked behind the worst monsters like rathalos or silver rathalos
@@joesheridan9451 Yeah, I have with a friend and regretted it. It had two things I hate the most im hunts. Cheap hits and One hit kill move. I'll pass on him. My friend feels the same way about Barioth, but I love fighting that monster.
have you tried adept dual blades? i think you wont have much of a trouble since after a dodge you have 2 free dash with invulnerability unlike any other adept style really helps not getting punish after an evade.
@@Amatsu_storm_approach im talking specifically with high rank gear solo and without being a expert with bow which I've heard from people changes the difficulty compared to other weapons. In a group or with others ancient leshen is a completely different fight. The hardest I've ever faced. Had to play perfect for over 40 minutes to bring it down. Its death cages were the main issue.
@@procow2274 I have a friend who defeated ancient leshen without carting in less than 3p minutes so it depends of how good you are or how good is your equipment
Trust me you were no where near close to beating him. For a start using full bolt reaver armor is terrible and not going to give you anywhere near enough damage to kill him in the time limit and he's mostly weak to raw, only slightly weak to ice. So elderfrost weapons are tailor made for him

you really should take absolute readiness if dying is your main problem that could be you trump card in evading attack that would otherwise kills you it also sharpens your weapon, which mean less down time to sharpen it
TBH I dont like EX deviants, to me is a missconcept of dificulty. On my vision, ir the monster can one shot with almost all of arsenal, the HP pool MUST BE lesser than usual. This Ex remember Arch tempered 2.0 of the world, no fun, just reward!
EX Deviants are this difficult because they're not intended to be beaten by the vast majority of players. They were artificially designed to be an (optional) ultimate challenge for those few players who are deeply committed to learning and experiencing a monster, to the point where they have pretty much mastered it. A design philosophy that was solely intended for the few who are willing to go that far.

They may be trying to get a larger audience now but that all really began from World onwards, in which case they have done a really terrible job with Arch-tempered monsters. Yes your statement about EX Deviants being about Glory-hunting is absolutely correct. That's literally what they are there for; to serve as bragging rights too. And often Glory-hunters do end up having fun doing those things. Never slayed an EX myself btw.

Yesterday I was able to beat him solo. I used the same set but with a Charm with +10 Thunder Res and +10 Evasion.
It was a nightmare.

i finally got my goldcrown yesterday by beating the last deviant EX. and can definitelly say boltreaver was the hardest one for me aswell.

I have hunted all EX mons and I can safely say that boltreaver is by far the hardest EX. People cart at it like its their job.

All EX deviants are extremely painful but for me Boltreaver it's the "easiest" while Grimclaw it's the absolute devil

In GU once you beat G rank, you can turn any armour piece to look like any other armour piece in the game. And there are 100s.
When boltreaver has its wings turn green he kinda looks like some kind of evolved brachydios that learned how to fly
Try evasion 2 arial db (ahtal ka set) eat for defensive stat + moxie or insurance. If all that fails u should make a Guts set.
all high level monsters are tuned for multiplayer even if you do it solo

Honestly that's less hp than I expected especially from a G rank monster. Ancient leshen has 67500 hp and I did that solo with high rank gear
Even with less HP,boltreaver is a looooooooooooot stronger,faster and more durable than the ancient lessen so obviously is harder

1 year i have been playing GU and never got desired charm like tend+5 3slot, sharpness+5, and godlike charm:")
I got Tenderizer +4 ooo and Sharpness +5 ooo. GU charm farming RNG is Horrible so i refuse to farm any further.
