Oh Michy, you always make these 25 point matches so dramatic😄 If I remember correctly, you played a game against Hideaki a few years ago and in that game also, you came back from a 4-16 to 22-16 and won that game😅 Excellent match and excellent commentary. Thank you 🙏🏻👌🏻
Congratulations Michy on winning the match and congratulations to both of you for playing a great match! That was exciting. Best wishes and good dice for 2025!
It's about offering a cube when you are ahead in the score. If you win a single game, you'll get to 3away, which is not so good. If you win a gammon, you'll get to 1away, which is good, but not great compared to 4away.
The position at 12:17 would be a 1.454 pass on XG++ is the score were 4 away 5 away. Not doubling would be a 0.168 blunder. But at 4 away 9 away it is only a borderline double and very comfortable take. There are many gammons and the gammon value at 4 a 5 a is 0.814 but only 0.484 at 4 a 9 a. The idea is that you already enjoy a 5 point lead at 4 a 9 a so you do not need to be as aggressive to try to win the match in a single game. But with only a 1 point lead at 4 a 5 a, it is worth it, and it fact it becomes a pass because of this.

@@Musja_life Thank you for watching the match! Are you from Russia or Caucasus? It's wonderful that backgammon is a part of the culture. ☺
Great Video Michy! Thank you for the content
Thank you for leaving the 1st comment, Mr. DiceMan! ☺
Thank you for another great video. Please explain why you call 5 away the "stupid score."

@ Thank you. At 5 away you prefer a four point battle to get to Crawford. But when leading you must be careful to double.
Great video, thanks Michy!
What board and checkers are you playing here?
Looks like a beautiful custom P-40 board.
Thank you, Alex! That's correct. The board is P-40. p40bg.com/
