I love your commentary! Learning so much! 😊
I'm glad to hear that you learned a lot from my commentary. Thank you for telling me that!
First time viewer, you are an exceptional commentator and a very funny personality! The format of your presentation is top quality. I look forward to the next match and will check out your other videos! Happy rolling! 🎲🎲
Welcome to my channel! I read your comment before I play the New York Metropolitan Open, and you made me so happy. I feel I will roll very well today. ☺
I really enjoy watching this. I can see everything including the dice, the board is oriented the right way, and the commentary is great. These are the best videos. Thank you so much!
Wow, thank you for pointing out the specific things you liked! You made me happy! ☺
Roll better dice! Go Mr. Kageyama! Many thanks for the video,
Thank you for your support all the time! 😍
Always a privilege to watch & listen to great players...thank you.
Thank you for the kind words-it's always a joy to share the game!
Michy-San, when's the book coming out?
I always said "the book will come in xxxx", and I never made it. I'm sorry about that. This time I would say "the book will come in May". Fingers crossed.

My pleasure. Thank you for watching it! ☺
Another great video Michy, thank you. Can you please tell us more about CANADA KUOTA's method of assessing the position at 35 min (score 2-1 to Ueda and he cubes to 4) please.
Thank you for watching it! Kanade Kubota's formula is the way to get the winning chance in a position: we closed out the opponent's checker. Our back checker is trapped behind a 5 prime. This formula is quite accurate. The position in this match was different but kind of similar, so I could you the formula. The explanation of the formula is not easy. I need to create another video.
@@MichyBG Thank you Michy, I look forward to that Video and the formula.
@@MichyBGit would be great to create a video on this. I think many people would watch and enjoy it!
@@mhughesnyc Now I have another reason to create a video on this. 😅
44:25 Also, Bill Robertie calls the triple split the "Magriel" split in his book How to Play the Opening in Backgammon.
Hi Alex! I didn't know the name "Magriel split". Thank you for telling me that. ☺
This was a very fun match to watch. Thank you Michy!
It was one of the most exciting matches in my life. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. 😊
Why did you cut off the end of the game at the end? We wanted to see how that game ended with the 4 cube.
I'm sorry it's my mistake. 😅In the last game, Iketani won a single game and got 4 points.
whats that for a board?
It is a customized P-40 board. p40bg.com/
@MichyBG thanks for your effort...
Nice position. In addition to the duplication, the extra checker in the zone has a minor impact on the slot vs split decision. After an opening 41 played 13/8, the correct 41 reply is 13/9 6/5, better than 24/23 13/9 by 0.011 on XG++.
I agree! The value of splitting decreases as the opponent's number of checkers in the zone increase.
He was close to make a legendary comeback.Even though he lost he did a great job.Congratulations Michy and Iketani :)
Yes, Iketani was so close to win the match! What he did was incredibly good, no doubt. 😄
Hi michi. Thanks for your labours on me. I got getting better cause of you every single day. I want to ask you something. Im a turkish player and im playing backgammon for 6 months. Thank you for watching the videos until the end, and giving us the warm words. I wish you good luck and good dice in 2025!
@@Musja_life Thank you for watching the match! Are you from Russia or Caucasus? It's wonderful that backgammon is a part of the culture. ☺
The position at 12:17 would be a 1.454 pass on XG++ is the score were 4 away 5 away. Not doubling would be a 0.168 blunder. But at 4 away 9 away it is only a borderline double and very comfortable take. There are many gammons and the gammon value at 4 a 5 a is 0.814 but only 0.484 at 4 a 9 a. The idea is that you already enjoy a 5 point lead at 4 a 9 a so you do not need to be as aggressive to try to win the match in a single game. But with only a 1 point lead at 4 a 5 a, it is worth it, and it fact it becomes a pass because of this.
Thank you for another great video. Please explain why you call 5 away the "stupid score."
It's about offering a cube when you are ahead in the score. If you win a single game, you'll get to 3away, which is not so good. If you win a gammon, you'll get to 1away, which is good, but not great compared to 4away.
@ Thank you. At 5 away you prefer a four point battle to get to Crawford. But when leading you must be careful to double.
Great video, thanks Michy! What board and checkers are you playing here?
Looks like a beautiful custom P-40 board.
Thank you, Alex! That's correct. The board is P-40. p40bg.com/
@@MichyBG P-40 boards are beautiful. I have one myself.
Great gatch and great explanations! Could you tell us the PR´s please? Thx!
Thank you for watching it! Oh, I forgot to show the PRs. Michy 2.95 - Naoki Iketani 4.72
Oh Michy, you always make these 25 point matches so dramatic😄 If I remember correctly, you played a game against Hideaki a few years ago and in that game also, you came back from a 4-16 to 22-16 and won that game😅 Excellent match and excellent commentary. Thank you 🙏🏻👌🏻
You have a great memory! Four years ago, I was behind by 4-22 to 25, and I finally won!
Michy, you didn't show us the PRs. For such a long match this would have been interesting, very disappointed.
That's my horrible mistake. I aplologize it. Michy 2.95 - Naoki Iketani 4.72

23:09 Red moves a man from R-11 to R-8 but the die said 4. Nobody said anything.
That's right, it was an illegal move, but we both didn't notice it. 😅
What happened????? I watched a whole match and in the last exiting game you people simply omited the last AND CRITICAL roll !!!!!!!!!! That stinks!
In this video, the last game ended with double-pass. Maybe you talked about part 3? If so, I apologize it. It was my mistake. 😅
Wow - this ending was surprisingly aprupt😅
It's my mistake. It was supposed to end with my common phrase, "I wish you good luck and good dice. Bye for now". 😅
At the end of the video u should've put "to be continued... " :)
That's a good idea! 😍 I'll do that. Thanks!
What’s with the cliffhanger end?

Thank you so much for your kind words! It means a lot to me that you enjoy my content. ☺
Brilliant mind michy
You are also brilliant! 😄
Michy, why japan league didnt use doubling cube with 二 四 八 etc. symbols?
In Japan, 248 is more common than 二 四 八。Also, it'll be disadvantage for the foreigners. A German guy got to the final several years ago.
Great video as usual Michy. Interesting to see how such a big match lead dramatically affects the cube action for the leader.
That's right. A big socre lead gives huge impact on the cube action. 😱
Nice continuation of the match. Many difficult and good plays!
Thank you for leaving the first comment! ☺Right, we had many tough choices, but Iketani played pretty well!
Another entertaining video from the Master- thanks, Michy!
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video. ☺
Nice match and nice rolling! The 33 at 8-1, I think you hit in order to escape. With two checkers back, your opponent will retain chances to win going forward. Removing a builder for board building is a bonus. After your roll and the hit, 47 pips ahead, so you are also not afraid to give away a good timed backgame or something. I believe I'd hit OTB.
Thank you so much for giving me the idea about playing 33 at 8-1! I see that running has a high value when we are ahead in the race. ☺
@@MichyBG 50 pips ahead after the hit of course... Well, you also give up the 8 when you make the 5 and the anchor on the 21 mitigates the value of making the 3 to some extent. So maybe you make gains upfront, or large gains in escaping. Michy, we want part 2!
@@caspervandertak6698 Sure, part 2 is coming!
