Thanks Michi for the match again. Very informative
Thank you for playhing with me and watching it. ☺
Thanks Michy, always nice to see your matches and hear your comments!
Thanks for enjoying my comments. Your support really means a lot!
Great match both of you
Yes, I enjoyed the match! Thanks for watching it! ☺
Tough luck on this one Michy. It was a very educational match… as always
I had a great start, leading 6-0, but it was not enough. 😅 Anyway, thanks for watching it as always!
Thanks mitchy! Its amazing to watch you to play with your comments? I have a question for you? How can we know when we should double? Is there any percentage about pip differences? Thanks again.
Pip percentage matters only in a no-contact position. Generally, you can check four criteria: Race, Boad strength, Back checker, and threat.
Great match with some interesting positions!
It was so nice to see you in Jamaica! Hope to see you soon in Miami (50/50 whether I go or not).
@@MichyBG Yes Jamaica was great fun. One of the highlights was getting to know Akiko, sho is also wonderful. I will be going to Miami and hope you can make it too!
@@mhughesnyc Akiko is a wonderful person. I highly respect her! I'll do my best to get to Miami.
Why dont play in Backgammon Galaxy?

@@capa8888 Anytime!
ii can't express just how much I enjoy Michi's commentary - equal parts informative and entertaining! Bravo, sir and thank you!
Wow, you made me super happy! Thanks for watching it and leaving the comment. ☺
Thanks for the video, Michy! Regarding the position at 24:00, although I am no grandmaster, what I notice is that Yellow's 8-pt is stripped after the best play. To my eyes, I prefer to have the checker on the 6-pt, and to be prepared to bring my 8-pt home in a few rolls. But I don't believe this could fully explain the size of the error.
I agree with you. Yellow does not need to have three checkers on the 8 point. I also found this fact: Yellow will get a shot after Red's 11 12 22 if Yellow choses 21/16 11/8. However Yellow will get a shot after Red's 11 12 13 14 22 23 if Yellow choses the best play, 21/18 11/6.
Hi michy.thanks for commentary
Thank you for watching it and leaving the 1st comment. ☺
why there is no commercial advertisement for Japan tournaments? How can we join them?
They advertised on Facebook. They confirmed the date of Japan Championship is 3-5 May 2025. Please come to Japan! My 3 British friends already bought the tickets for Japan Championship next year.
@@MichyBG thank you so much for the information. I am already in Japan but no Tokyo. I will join this year.

Great video Michy! Thank you.

Very nice board. Do you know who makes it?
This backgammon board was made by the director in Macau. His name is Apollo.

Great! Thanks for ordering some dice through my promo code! I wish the dice will bring you good luck. 😄

Amazing 🎉🎉
I'm happy that you liked it!
Sorry Michi it was 4-4 where you made the Acepoint !
A very interesting 1-1 from you Michi in the last game - it would have been great to hear your opinon on that afterwards, Michi 😊
I didn't consider 4/3(2), which must be better than 3/1 because it dimishes the gap on the 3 point. I should have found it over the board. 😅
Very well played by both! Thank you for the video.
Yes, we played well. Also, the dice is important in backgammon. 😉
From no blots to three with a forced roll! Amazing! I guess four must be impossible?! Great game
The anti-joker 62 was crazy dice! I could not belieev that. 😅
Amazing game!
It was!!! Thans for watching it. ☺
Thanks for the upload - there were some extremely interesting moments, esp in the first half of the match.🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for watching it! It was a nice match, and I enjoyed it. ☺
Isnt back gammon a solved game? I knew a ton of poker players that quit back gammon professionally for poker for just that reason
No, backgammon is not a solved game. For me, it doesn't matter. I enjoy backgammon whatever it's solved or not because it's such an interesting game!
Excellent! I am currently working my way through "What's Your Game Plan?" Thank you for uploading!

Hi.thanks for upload video
Thank you for leaving the 1st comment! ☺
Thank you Michy another hugely helpful video! But I didn't quite hear what your name is for the 18 point anchor when the opponent has made their 5 point anchor?
The name of the anchor is "Phoenix anchor". The idea came from Fenghuang: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fenghuang Japanese call it "Hou-ou".
@@MichyBG thank you!
Great video sensei! It's such a pleasure to learn from your commentary on these matches. Nice that you're finally having some good luck in the UKBGF league.
I'm glad to hear that you learned from my commentary. Yes, I finally got lucky!!! 😁
Well, you had good dice in this match. Good playing as well. I am learning a lot about backgammon through your opening concepts and end game books. Proverbs help one to learn more easily.
It's 100% sure that I got good dice. 😁 I'm glad to hear you learn backgammon skills throught my proverbs.
Hi Michy, thanks for your great videos! Have you notice that you have issues with your audio/mic?

Melbourne! I am happy to help if you have any questions, Michy!
@@Den.K98 Great! I have some chance to visit Melbourne in the future. ☺
The winning chances estimate at 37:00 is very impressive!
Thank you! If both pip counts are the same, the roller usually have a 60% winning chance. Here he has 1 pip lead with better structure. That's why I estimated 65%.
@@MichyBG Hi Michy. That's fascinating. Do you think you could ever make a video about estimating winning chances? With tips and tricks like the one you just mentioned?
@@MakanBaranghoori It sounds a good idea! I cannot gurantee but let me think about it. ☺

Hi michy. Thanks for upload video
Thanks for leaving the first comment! ☺
Good match, Michy!
Thanks for leaving the comment! Yes, I played comfortably.
Thanks for sharing, Michy! I appreciated seeing the results in MWC at the end. I hope to see the backgammon community bring more visibility to this form of analysis in the coming years. I believe both EMG and MWC have their place, but I feel like MWC analysis is greatly neglected, leading to many common misconceptions about the game.
It is an interesting opinion. I also see only Normarize Equity instead of MWC. Do you think MWC is more important?
@@MichyBG To determine who performed better in the match, I believe MWC is a much better indicator. Whether we like it or not, the cube level and the score have a tremendous impact on the gravity of our errors. Normalized Equity does not reflect this. However, I believe EMG is the better tool for learning from one's errors.
@@mackenzieusher8025 I understood your idea. We need to use them differently depending on our purpose.
Thanks for upload video
Thank you for watching and leaving the first comment! ☺
omg the noise in t hat room!
RIght, a backgammon tournament room is always like that. ☺
@@MichyBG Yes, I have noticed that rising noise levels and PA announcements are becoming the acceptable norm. Seems out of place to me in a 'mind sports' event.
@@mobiusklein9140 Backgammon tournament room always has lots of noise. At least we have the sound of dice and checkers. 😅
@@mobiusklein9140 If the room is quiet, then any big noise disturb the players.
At 1:28 why is it wrong to hit blue's checker from the 13 point? Why is it right to make the 9 point. I would've hit. OTB.
There are a couple of reasons which are against hitting: - We secured the advanced anchor. - We are okay in the race. - The opponent can establish an anchor with 5s, instead of 6s. - Generally, making a point is better than hitting loose.
Michy what’s wrong with you 😂
Everything is fine with me. I just wanted to win. 😉
Hi Michi, thanks for your work and good content. Help me so much. :-) One question: Are you not listed at Galaxy Backgammon?
Thank you for enjoying my vidoes! Yes, I also play Backgammon Galaxy. My ID is Michy.
Please should the checker play analysis more. I get it were supposed to think, but I can't see how the play I thought was right vs the correct play that fast.
Thanks for your opinion! I'll try to show you the analysis longer. ☺
Some crazy dices here, the 65 lol and the two times Mr Cross wasn't able to fill that board, I enjoyed the match ty Mr Michy for sharing and uploading. I like the ones with XG and I have to admit I become scary good at BG just by watching, when in doubt I just make the XG move ( I always think like: what would XG do ? )and its mostly right. But I would have run with the 5/2 which was a pretty big mistake and this moments are very teachable by seeing the XG evaluation.
