I have a question if I can make the legs closer together and the arms, i.e. hands more up

yes you can do that. To make the legs closer you can just chain 1 before attacking or even slip stitch. Just make sure you add increases so you have the right stitch count. You can move the hands up by using some extra thread to the shoulder & neck area so it lifts more. Hope this helps
