    the French architect who designed it NEVER set foot in Montreal. That was their first mistake. They trusted someone who didn't understand Canadian winters.

    I went on a tour there last week. It is still in use surprisingly they use it 193/365 days a year
    They use it for concerts, monsters trucks shows, car shows they shoot some movies there like x men and in the pool part which he didn’t even mention they have swim lessons , water polo , a gym , a marital arts studio, and it is open to the public and the tower it the tallest inclined tower in the world

    1976 OLYMPICS for Canada were very expensive and not worth the cost. That's my opinion!

      The Olympics are very expensive anywhere they are held and not worth the money.

    Lived in Montreal for 28 years. The stadium was sometimes called the "toilet bowl"...

    One last thing: The Montreal Impact (MLS Team) also play some of their home games in Olympic Staduim to this day.

    • @natlariviere8256
      @natlariviere8256 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't they have a field next to the stadium?

    • @robbiefishel960

      They do, but they play in Olympic Stadium when weather conditions don't allow them to play outdoors (most notably cold weather and/or snow)

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      News from today: They are moving permanently back to their stadium and abandoning Olympic Stadium for good.

      @ that is because the fucked up people that work at mls decided the montral impact would not play home games for the first 6 games (5 weeks )

    This video was hilarious and super informative and you're a great TH-camr! I've been doing stupid YT for 3 years and understand the work you put into this video. My husband and I were at Olympic Stadium this last weekend for the Vans Park Series (new skate venue) and were talking about the stadium tonight at dinner. We decided to get some info on it and your video was there for the viewing. Thanks again for taking the time to make this, I loved it. Being from California, I had no idea about any of it, but I am old enough to remember the Expos. Also I was your 6666th view! I'm subbing, make more!

    You should add another video to this one. Talking about that now another permanent roof will be installed at the cost of 870million$. With no teams playing in it. Seriously this isn’t even a joke

    Nice work on this video.
    I saw a few games there in 2004. The 10,000 or so fans that were there each night were passionate, and this was for a losing franchise . I could see a baseball making a comeback there.

    Saw two Expos games as a kid in the early 90s; the biggest attraction of that was seeing Yupie , and some kid ripping the head off and running away with it as the mascot chased him, lol , and yes the tower was a great view of the area, but yeah. lol by the time i was there the roof was set to permanent , so no opening of the roof any longer.

    • @seanwebb605
      @seanwebb605 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Poor construction. But that’s not uncommon in Montreal. I have been there for three baseball games.

    • @clarabrousseau2263
      @clarabrousseau2263 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah it si still used to this day . It isn't useless

    • @seanwebb605
      @seanwebb605 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@clarabrousseau2263 It's very much under used. The city of Montreal has debated the costs of just tearing in down rather than trying to renovate the facility and carry the operating losses. My last time there was about two years ago. Spring training exhibition game for the Toronto Blue Jays. It was fun, but the facility is in rough shape. If they were to get another team it would cost them hundreds of millions of dollars to bring it up to standards. Even short term.

    I was also completed 5-6 years late. The agreement when the Expos were granted an expansion team was that the Expos would be in their new stadium by 1971. Jarry Park was a minor league complex at best. It was a good thing that MLB did not know how behind schedule Olympic Stadium was going to be, they would not have awarded a franchise.

    I was there at the Montreal Olympics still remember clear as day July 15- 17th 1976 and yes it was a disaster it was mostly due to exponential cost over run by so called king of construction at the time Andre Dade corrupt construction union boss deliberately pulling delays on movement of the project in terms of cost it took taxpayer's money almost 30 years to pay for the 1976 Montreal Olympics that and other forms of criminal activity on the grounds of the project...I came from Sudbury ontario still remember all the welfare running up to the front gate collecting food items that were supposed to be sold there's nothing really good that came from this project and that was the last Olympic for Montreal there's way too much corruption in Olympics and way too high of a cost for the city hosting
