No engine ever had such great exhaust sound as a traditional Detroit Diesel. I agree with that other comment that it is music to my ears too. That unique "classic" Detrot Diesel exhaust sound is unlike any others. That music is because of the 2 stroke Detroit engines "scavenging" ports at the lower end of the cylinders. You can still hear it on a turbocharged Detroit engine but not as pronounced as a naturally aspirated model that still have blowers, but the exh. thru the turbo quiets a bit.
Love the 10 speed. I hauled petroleum products with different type tractor trailers. In addition to other trucks the company I worked for had (2) 2007 Mack Granite 18 speed tractors with PTO add on. The old 2000 Mack with the 10 speed did a great job and was the one I liked best. Miss driving. I work for the railroad as a train engineer and trucking is WAY more demanding than running trains. Still keep all my stuff current.
Awesome Video!🎥
Great job on the video👍🏻
I love that GMC General sound and look!
Earth shattering!
This is the 2nd video that I have found in TH-cam were the driver is treating a good old Detroit very nicely

Music to my ears!

Very nice!!!
How about a brief exterior video of this classic?
Hardcore power! :-D
I hate it whenever the Roadranger transmissions sound like they need to be oiled.
I would love to have this engine in a 1982 Kenworth W-900 or a K-100. Or a 1955 Pete 281!
