if anyone wants a history lesson, back in 1941 the philippines, along with the american military forces, are fighting against the japanese forces who began their invasion at december 1941! around 100k filipinos, both civilians and soldiers, have died during this time and even if the japanese occupation lasted until may 1942, it's considered one of the most brutal times in philippine history (if you can stomach the dreary details, look up the bataan death march)

Jay, how you unlock the ending on Uncle Panko's terrible farm, is when you are looking for the gnome look for a golden key, throw the gnome out and the key is still with you, when it's the next day, go to one of the rooms near your room, you should what has been causing you to see those things in the game!

The background of the game: Japan is a modern place, building being constructed everywhere but Japan is also rooted historically.
