If the Amiga CD32 was released in 1990 it would have been a very nice console with the specs it had 1993, but yeah 1993/4 it was severally underpowerd, sadly Commodore could never made a machine to compete with the Paystation or Saturn, at best they could added a few megs of fast ram to the system to give it an advantage vs the genesis perhaps the Snes. But even with a 68060 cpu it would struggled to keep up with the saturn when it comes to 3d games.
I agree. It couldn’t even compete with the 3DO or Jaguar. And it’s 2D graphics lacked compared to the Neo Geo. in 1993 we needed a better showcase to move on from our Mega Drives and Super Nintendos. It’s a shame because in hindsight a lot of these games aren’t bad.
No, CD32 is just a "consolised" A1200 with mediocre library of ported games (and solid load od crappy titles)+ games released on CDTV. You can even buy a floppy drive+keyboard and mouse and play games from normal amigas. CD32 was not bad as Amiga. Many consoles were far worse (from ALL generations) - Playdia, Loopy, CDI, Hyperscan, Pippin, Commodore 64 Games System (commodore64, technically GREAT system, but without keyboard... and without any possibility to attach one. Big failure, gamers can't even play one of launch games, (Terminator 2), because "press button on keyboard" message), Jaguar, Amstrad GX4000 (again, basically Amstrad computer, but without any add-on) , Jaguar, Nuon, and many, many mooore.
@@marcinostrowski2378 jaguar was better than cd32. i had a jag, and while it was rough, nothing on the cd32 touches avp, doom, wolfenstein, power drive rally, ultra vortek, tempest 2000, iron soldier. even cybermorph stands above what the cd32 had to offer.
@@bjf9304 It's subjective. Jaguar has better 3D chips with gems like AVP or ports of doom and Wolf3D, CD32 had generally more games, mainly ports from mainstream amiga computer, with several enchancements. Atari should care about ports from ST. So, Jaguar had some FPS, CD32 had some great point and click adventure games (like Simon The Sorcerer, Beneath a Steel Sky or Darkseed), great strategies like UFO: Enemy Unknown, some other ports like Chaos Engine/Soldiers of Fortune, Pirates Gold!, Speedball 2 Brutal Deluxe... Jaguar had decent Raiden port, amiga had banshee. Both consoles had load of bad games. But ... amiga cd32 is definitely better in one category - you can burn pirate games from amiga and play on it.
@@bjf9304 cd32 could play old amiga games and no offense but those old amiga games were far better than the jaguar games library even if they were old. Jaguar had maybe 5 decent games but the cd32 had access to hundreds of games by being essentially backwards compatible. Either way both were doomed to fail as 2 years after they both released we got the saturn and the playstation.
Awesome stuff, I’m still keeping my CD32.
great video

Oh yes, Banshee every time.
Soccer Kid looks like the only half-way decent game, if this were the TG16 era. Did the programmers forget to include the music???
Maybe is from emulator
You'd expect something a bit better than games that look like they came out in 1987 on Amiga 500.. :(
Couldn't the cd32 play audio?? Lol
Why ? 🤪
@@DimGaming most are silent.. Lol
@@MrStrewtho are you drunk ? 😂 Do you mean without music only fx ?
@@DimGaming yes exactly
And i thought emulating this. I don't think so.
and then came sony that copy the technology and the rest is history
Worst system ever..
