Hi Big Al, The boat was never actually put on the barge just lifted enough to clear the sea wall. Then they pivoted the barge away from the sea wall and lowered the boat in the water. We were on a vacant lot. I wish we could have been over on the other side so we could get close ups. Thanks for watching

I'm not a boater so please forgive me if I ask stupid questions. On a salvage like that who gets the boat? If it was sank off shore whoes boat would it be?
Sadly I am not well versed in maritime law. But under certain circumstances salvage laws can come into play. I’m sorry but I do not know the intricate details of that process. I’m a 30 plus year boater but that topic I have never looked into. Thank you for watching!
How badly hit was this neighborhood overall? It looks like overall, the damage in this particular area was pretty minor overall. Either that, or all those home and property owners are really quick and on the ball about getting things cleaned up and repaired.
Homes in Sw Cape Coral mostly was flood (around 10 inches in home in some cases) , pool cage and roof damage. Boats and docks were also hit hard. Nothing like Fort Myers beach or Matlache near Pine Island who suffered tremendous damage.
It's deceiving too, if you see the front yards, there's damaged property on the curb waiting to be picked up. But yes, the Fort Myers Beach area got hit way harder than this area did.
No sorry, but we have seen Tarpon Point marina near us, a lot of big yachts are in bad shape. Also up the river in Fort Myers there is another marina that got hit real bad. The floating docks came apart and away went the boats. Some with the dock still tied to them. Thanks for watching
If that Garmin dash cam will survive the Fla heat then I need one for all my vehicles. Would you share the model please? I grew up in Miami inthe 50,s and 60,s and went through many hurricanes. We would even go to the beach and surf the big waves. Not very smart idea..........lol TFS
That was my criteria when shopping it’s a garmin 57. Garmin Dash Cam 57, 1440p and... www.amazon.com/dp/B0932FTP6D?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. No problem with Cape Coral heat
I have been out twice since the storm, i don’t draw much water at all but didn’t hit or see anything. Depth finder showed normal bottom pictures on my direct way out of the canals
My property manager recently informed me that one of his clients' boats was in the pool... The recovery took several hours and reportedly cost over $2000 an hour....
He's lucky it wasn't more. Political contracts determine who gets what. Why does TBUS have a lock on everything marine whether on or off land? So much for fair competition especially when dealing with Tallahassee. Ugh
Not sure, perhaps the insurance company may require that to continue being insured by the company. That being said boat insurance is not mandatory, unless maybe if you have a loan on the boat.
Yes,I understand it was surge. But the video shows other vessels that seem undisturbed. If it was surge, then boaters should goon the hard in future storms or tie up to floating docks with tall piling,eh?
Well the 2 marinas near by here had floating docks the docks came apart and the boats floated away with pieces of dock still tied to them. Is this particular case the the pilings that the boat was tied to from a distance looked like a heavy PVC type, I saw at least one was snapped and another one bent over. They were not the typical wood piling .
Aha! Someone should do an analysis (Boat US?) discussing what works and what doesn’t. We boaters should be aware of techniques that are successful, and those that aren’t. There is a serious lack of knowledge in the boating community that’s getting worse rather than better. So now we know lesson #1 is dont tie up to a PVC piling! Lesson 2. Monitor your lines when in a static docking situation. (Perhaps consider piling slides). From photos I’ve seen, people need to know to remove canvas-Bimini tops et al…
Another issue in this area particularly is that many of the homes here are secondary vacation homes (not me I live here). I’m willing to guess many of the boats that were damaged and floated away the owners were not even in the state to make those line adjustments etc…
Well to be honest in my 30 plus years of boating many boats do just fine being left in the water and tied well. Around here many of the damaged boats were in boat lifts. My boat was left in the water at my dock. I put a few extra long lines to allow for storm surge and extreme tides. I don’t have a scratch on mine. But either way is no guarantee.
It might be possible the owners were up north. It was not quite time for the snow birds to head south for the winter with this storm. There are boat owners that just don’t have a clue how to tie up a boat to deal with weather.
You watch what you want we watch what we want, That’s what you took from a 30 minute boat recovery video a TV on in the background . Now I find that typical. Have a nice day.

Dang, such a big project..Does insurance cover all this, or hurricane relief funds? The costs have to be insane. Good luck down there.
Thank you for watching, I would assume boat/yacht insurance would cover it. It’s around a 2 million dollar yacht.

Is it true that NO WORK is being done during the 7pm~7am curfew?
To my understanding the curfew in Cape Coral has been lifted. I think Fort Myers may still have one. I just don’t know about work being done.
I hope that PDQ power cat weathered the storm well
It appeared to be in pretty good shape
just think of how many more they have to do.

any estimates on how many boats lost at sea or where ever ?

Is Happy Ours being rescued?
It was put back in the water today, and towed to the owners home.
Did your home get flooded?
No, we were lucky. Our immediate neighbors each had about 10 inches of canal water in the house. We are just a little higher than they are, Whew!
So was this a service of Towboat U.S?
I noticed the Towboat US sign was tied on, I’m guessing they rented the barges and equipment and provided this service.

This happened from Hurricane Ian, 155 mph winds and at least 8 feet of tide surge.
