The problem with getting them SUPER SUPER DUPER expensive cards is finding a person who will want to buy it/afford it. I mean with how volatile the card market has been, people dont want to spend that much because they dont want to lose most there investment. Not to mention a very small sample size of collectors could ever afford that. That is a dream card of mine but I wouldnt have traded all them cards for that. Fact is, the vintage cards are a good one to hang onto. SPECIALLY Mantles and Babe cards!

I take care of my 92 year old Mom and I wanna start collecting again to help me thru the day as it's something that I really and fully enjoy and it would be such a blessing to have that back in my life again, but I just can't.

I had that yellow ruth in a 4.5 sgc that looked like an 8 on the front. Still had the original glssy look to the finish. A guy jept a bunch of 33s in a book when he was a kid and just gappened to find them and consigned them at the local card shop. I had a great job wotking as a salesman for catsrpillar and no kids at the time. I ended up having almost an entire set of 33 goudeys and 1935 diamond stars by the time i was done
It’s actually quite the opposite with Curry. There weren’t many basketball cards produced in 2009. There are far, far more low grade Mantles and Ruths than high-end Curry cards.

Last year, a bgs 9.5/10 went for almost 170k in June, but the same card resolde for almoat 110k in December. I would say, if this was bought about seven months ago, it's not a good deal.

The Mantle and Ruth are worth at most $60K right now based on grades, the overall trade up to this card to me overall seems good, especially if your going for the rare modern stuff

I have one of the finest Honus Wagners in existence. Found in a Scribners children’s book, being used as a book mark. It’s got to be the best example known from every one I’ve seen. Problem is I’m terrified of sending it for grading and need to find out how to physically present it.
The problem is back years ago the didn't have to manufacture rare cards. How many 1952 Mantle 9 or better are there? How many 9 or better of the Goudey Ruths are there? You won't find that Curry in 5 or less ever.
