Brandon Roy was so much bigger than his performances. He saved the franchise from being sold and relocated. His jersey number should be retired in Portland. Get him on the pod!
@@paulwall7045 Roy career high was 22ppg on 37 min Dame career high 32ppg on 36 min, dame first season is comparable to Roy’s best season saying that with no disrespect if you hate dame just say that lol.
Roy gave us 5 mid seasons compared to any nba star today (first option), dame has been excelling since his rookie year and only got better after each season and his numbers are up there with the best scorers the league has ever seen be honest with yourself, plus he wasted majority of his career on a bottom contending team in the WEST of todays NBA. The blazers owe him literally everything for keeping people in those seats. I could name 10 or more 6’6 players better than Brandon Roy I cant name ten 6’2 guards better than Dame
I was a walkon at Arizona and we played against Washington when B Roy was a senior and I was a freshman. I had to mimic his moves in scout team both times we played him. He put on a clinic during that 2005-06 season when he won PAC10 Player of the year. Dude was a straight BEAST! Wish he never got hurt. People forget he made 3 straight all star teams too. Keep up the great work PG13! 👏🏽
Wait u were on that w them freshmans Marcus Williams, JP and Fendi? Those guys were cold there was a game against villanova where marcus went crazy and ucla feel like only games I watched that season I was like 10 and a massive Lute Olson fan!
@@JaredDudley24 yup I played there from 2005-09, and those 3 knuckleheads were my teammates. That game against Villanova in Philly from 06’ still hurts. We almost got them. That squad they had was legit though JP transferred to Tennessee at the beginning of our sophomore season. Thought he was gonna be the guy but it worked out for him better at Tennessee under coach pearl 🤝🏽
BRoy was one of my favorite players ever man. He was poised & just played with a swagger. Wasn’t the most athletic or had crazy skills, he was just great at everything and you couldn’t stop em.
Z BO I got a lot of respect for him and i don't even know him. I lived in Marion Indiana for a couple years its a rough place and the way he gives back to the community is truly awesome!!
I was at his last game Verse Dallas in the playoffs blazers down by 18 to start the 4th qauter and Roy scored 18 4th quarter points while both knees were deteriorating to win the game that game and the kobe double buzzer beater games are the 2 best nba games I've ever attended so gratefull to say I was there much love z bo!!!!!
Brandon Roy reminded me of Walt Frazier. That Clyde persona was off the court, but his game was all business. Brandon was smooth without being flashy, had good handles and a great jumper. He was definitely on his way to being a superstar.
Roy was special. To a lot of people who don't remember him, looking at his stats alone doesn't do him justice. Since he played on a super slow team even for that era, once you average for pace, his seasons were more like 24-26ppg on a modern team. Then, he had EVERY move on offense. Otherwise, like Chris Paul, he had a way of hurting the opposing team without scoring alone. That's why he was so special. Obviously, prime Kobe and Artest said he was the hardest player for them to guard for a reason. Then, Roy's teammates like Channing Frye, Aldridge, etc played next to certified legends like Lebron, Dame, Kawhi, etc and in recent years, they still said Roy was the most talented player they played next to.
Gordon Hayword, instead of PG. Guy didn't even have a chance to prove himself with the Celtics 'cause of that dreadful broken leg. Victor Oladipo was the same with Pacers.
Definitely not hall of fame level career average 18-4-4 would definitely be an insult to those would made it and didn’t make it to the HOF. best year in Portland averaged 22pts on 37 mins he was great for Portland but dame is a better player than Him stat wise and Franchise wise Brandon was great for his size but I can name 10 or more better 6’6 players
I been loving the recent love people been showing Brandon Roy, he shouldn't be forgotten and people forget he's also another baller from Seattle!!
I would’ve donated cartilage to see B Roy keep playing. That man was special.

Not before Dame or LA
To be honest. Dame ain't on his lvl bro. Brandon Roy was it before he went down. I don't see dame as it.

Coach Brandon Roy
Straight DAWG. I had an uncle drafted by the Blazer's and two highschool teammates. Best franchise!

I've seen all these stories pop up about Brandon Roy...but ain't nobody interviewing him. Spread that podcast money y'all.
Brandon Roy and Derrick Rose are some of my favorite what if’s

yooooooooooooooooo
PG you are in that "if he didn't get hurt" category my brother.. Respectfully
Considering that the best year of his career came after the injury, not really
Dude broke his leg, that shit heals fully and even stronger than before. He didnt tear no ligament or tendon
