So Azrael starts with his classic Blue and Yellow armor with the cape. As he goes crazier he starts adding more armor and ditches the cape and upgrades the helmet into the blue version you see here as the Platinum. When hes fully lost it he gets engulfed in flames and comes out with the armor colored red. I guess we can assume it burned off the paint. But it was more symbolic of him losing his mind completely and becoming someone Batman needed to take down. So its basically 1st Armor - Hero 2nd Armor - Antihero 3rd Armor - Villain
The blue suit was the original appearance of the armor but after sustaining damage throughout his fight with Batman and the mob, the paintjob would peel off over time, revealing a red finish underneath. That's how he gets the red armor, which he sticks to wearing in the climax of Knightsend where Batman beats him by luring him into the caverns of the Batcave, forcing him to remove his armor and then blinding him with light (Azrael was using night vision), while helping him reconcile his issues. Funny you mention about not liking Azrael, since the whole point of his character is to make you appreciate OG Batman vs an edgy 90s version in the form of Azrael so you weren't wrong for feeling that way at the time. 👍 I will say that I do prefer the red version, so I'm glad it's the regular edition.

He probably didn't even remember the red armor under the blue paint.

He looks great. I had the Walmart one for a short time, but sold it due to hating the baby blue color. I want the Platinum blue suit, but don’t want to have to buy multiples to MAYBE get it. I never liked the red as a kid, still don’t like it now.

I’m curious to know your thoughts on the Platinum/Chase figures. To me, it sucks that the recent Platinum figures are the ones most people want. Specifically this blue Azbat and the brighter colored Wonder Woman.

I said it before and I'll say it again: If anyone knows cool it's Todd McFarlane and Russ Akin. They have some minor faults but they look cool as hell sitting on your shelf, and that's what counts. By the way, I like the red one best.

Im just not a fan of this design... the aesthetic, OR the color pallette. It looks too busy and a bit generic with that helmet. I like the first edition WAY better. I think it just cuts a better silhouette. And I like the more Batman looking head sculpt. Not hatin' on anyone who digs these tho, to each their own. Thats just my personal opinion. Sik
