Yeah, I fell for this one and wasted 25 research points. Received a Frigate blueprint I can't use because I don't have the base blueprint. Not using this feature again. Spend the research points on the boxes.
You should have used one of the provided tools to determine what BP you were likely to get and tailor your RA accordingly. You can get duplicates and variants you cannot use just like with the 15rp box however you can also force the RA to give you ships you dont have which is how its meant to be used.
As an example i just completed onr while in hub and my ONLY options were IO type A/B/C and Eris type B/C. I do not have any of these and i own the Eris type A so 3 of the 5 options were powerful and useful immediately while the IO type B and C (also strong albeit niche and meta dependent) would not help me until i get IO base.
All that time and effort to get the research points, then 30 hours waiting for a blue print. Blue print unusable. Needs base model. Not wasting time or research points on this feature again. 15 research boxes from the store cost less and open in far less time. Like all the other poorly translated from Chinese game mechanics this one is like playing a slot machine. Pull lever and hope for a win. Not using this feature again.
