    His perspective on money when it comes to the band is really rather respectable and humble. His policy on meet and greets is actually one of my favorite things he’s ever said. Essentially says - instead of collecting money through a 3rd party for someone to meet you, ask them for $25 in person anytime they come up to you - and see how that makes you feel, as it’s the same exact thing. Paying for a brief and standard human interaction is inherently wrong and narcissistic.

      While dont get me wrong, i agree with the points, meet and greets are only brief for the fan, but it is quite long for the artists. Imagine having to go thru hundred, if not thousands, of fans to come up to you and take pictures. Not really a connection. Id say ban meet and greets altogether

      I agree! That's why I've never paid for meet and greets, honestly I've been waiting for days to meet my favourite bands in front of their hotels (not in a stalker kind of way but when I knew they used to normally come out to meet their fans as a traditional thing) and they were always so much sweeter than what I've head from meet and greets where people spent thousands for having to stand ten feet away from them to have one photo taken. I got hugs for free :)

      I disagree with the view on M&G. It's expensive to make music and tour. When you reach a level of mainstream success, these comments make sense, but for smaller artists , it's often a critical way they make touring affordable.

    • @logkmusic5877
      @logkmusic5877 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      It’s called supply and demand and that’s how business works. If the demand is higher to see an artist and people are desperate and willing to pay that much, scalpers WILL take advantage of that by buying the cheap tickets, flip them around and sell them for sometimes triple or quadruple the price or even more. And that’s not fair to fans. No offense intended for The 1975, but they aren’t anywhere near as popular as Taylor Swift was during her tour sale and currently is (at least not to my knowledge and not in the US, pretty well known and successful no doubt). The best thing to do is search out loyal and dedicated fans and secure them tickets, which Taylor and many artists have done. His heart and intent is in the right place but offering cheap tickets can sometimes do more harm than good.

      First of all, it's worth it. Who else in the world would play 44 songs with full on choreography and 16 costume changes for over 3 hours set in a tour? Second, what do you mean parents? Most swifties are millenial in their mid twenties who already got their own money to go to the tour. Stop living in 2010 saying swifties are consist of 13 years old teenagers.

    I know the band gets pretty much no say in ticket pricing but it really killed me to spend $160 Canadian to see them in Vancouver. I paid it, and I'd do it again, but I'm with Matty on this. No ticket should ever be more than $50. Same with merch. It's absolutely bonkers that they're asking $65 for a T-shirt. Even with all the costs associated with printing, distributing, and selling tens or hundreds of thousands of shirts, I think it's totally ridiculous that they cost that much. But that's why my closet is full of local band shirts anyway so 🤷‍♂️

She has a lot of performers with her dancing usually and they all have to be paid proper wages. Then there's all the crew. I would be happier with higher prices as long as we knew damn sure the money was going to pay proper wages to the people involved and not just making companies like ticketek rich.

    And that’ll last only about a year. Next year they’ll be charging $200-$400 as the production gets bigger and bigger

    They definitely dont charge £40 to £50 and if they do, they dont do enough to circumnavigate the prices that we're held to ransom over

    Hard to say these words when you can easily check their ticket prices and see the cheapest (at least around the US) is 90$ or 70 quid for a concert 5 months out
