I am pretty sure it is because Marika asked (or made) him to have a demeanor of a lord, so he consciously makes an effort to speak very ceremonial style on his First Lord form, and after he fights as WARRIOOOOR he just doesn't care enough anymore

You guys got it wrong i think. He means he is given a chance to battle again, which is something he loved doing. We granted him audience by being his opponent
Melina kinda explained that Marika banished him because he was useless once he won all the fights and there was nothing left for him to do. So he was told to go away and find other fights outside the lands between without grace, to struggle and become even stronger through suffering. That's how he bacome the first Tarnished. But one day Marika will need his or one of his offsprings help to fight the Elden Beast and set her free. On my read all the Tarnished were candidates to become Elden Lord but some had other motivations like Fia or Gideon who thaught it's impossible to become Elden Lord, or lose motivation like Rogier did and lost the guidence of Grace. Then only two Tarnished remained to take the throne. Godfrey and the player. If the player don't kill Godfrey then I think he would have been the one to free Marika. Even when he is defeated he says that the player has the strength for the crown. Like he is not even mad but he dies peacefully that someone else will do what he would have, and he died in battle. Either way Godfrey came back because there was use to him again, to fight, even if it was the other Tarnished people or the Elden Beast.
I think the lore blurb on Radahn's armor that you get after defeating him mentions the fact that young Radahn admired Godfrey. And the armor's lion motif is because Radahn was just that much of a fanboy.

Hoarah Loux with margit are the most respectfull bosses kn elden ring and here is why: - They fight you 1v1 only them and their weapons (not some new absurd ability to demolish you) -They both have respect towards you - They are badass - "I shall remember thee tarnished" - "Thy strength befits a crown"
I feel like Morgott respecting our drive and determination while also fucking despising us for being power-hungry, selfish pillagers that just take from everyone whatever we feel like we want, consequences be damned are not mutually exclusive things.
i truly have utmost respect for this guy, truly enjoyed fighting against him too. he doesn't have annoying crazy attacks like Malenia's dance and he says "GG" everytime you die, but when he dies he'll say "you deserve it bro, GG", unlike most enemies in this game that roasts you because you can't dodge their lightning fast attacks lmao.

Defeating Malenia was the biggest rush of satisfaction I’ve ever felt in gaming… but she was not fun to fight.

I do love that out of all the bosses, godfrey is the only one to recognize you as not just tarnished but also a warrior
Maliketh also respects you if you gave him all the death root, he no longer insults you when he dies.
