sphere boren perhaps, but if you listen to their complete recordings, Lorelei were a little more varied, in terms of their songwriting and influences and they wrote better songs. After the first three Slowdive EPs, they just stayed firmly, in their comfort zone but they never progressed until Pygmalion, which isn't necessarily a Slowdive release. Of course, both bands shared similar influences but Lorelei's sound, managed to be more brittle yet contain more grit. I suppose a lot of that has to do with recording budgets but if you ask me, Slumberland earned way more on their investment, than Creation did. Slowdive leaves the ground and hangs in the air unable to safely land. Lorelei definitely has some dried mud stuck to their Converse One-stars.
