Hi there! 👋🏻 We live on a 1-acre farm right in the middle of the busy city of Phoenix, Arizona! Our names are Kevin & DaNelle, and we moved here in 2009, when our kids Ethan & Lydia were just 6 & 4 years old 🥰 Over the years we've raised goats for milk, chickens for eggs, built a fish/swim pond, planted fruit & nut trees, and grew a large garden full of veggies. We've also raised a bunch of other animals like pigs, sheep, turkeys, geese, peacocks, and more!
Now that our kids are away at college, we have settled into doing what we love most -- which is raising & breeding goats ethically to improve genetics. But don't worry, we'll forever love our goofy pet goats like Luna the herd queen & Willow the stump lover. We also still love raising chickens for eggs, gardening, tending to the fruit & nut trees, and growing fish in the pond. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, yogurt -- and we use that + everything else we harvest on our little farm to make delicious meals. Having a getaway from the busy world right in our backyard brings so much joy to us each day, and we hope it brings some to you, too. 🥰

Uhm.. Danelle.. Don't you have to open those mattresses up and let them inflate within three days of receiving them, or risk them not inflating correctly whenever you DO get around to inflating them? If you're getting the mattresses so early, I hope you have enough space to store them after they're inflated!

I'd been binging on aquarium videos and could see right away that the big shrimp is a female with a belly full of eggs. There'll be more shrimp swimming around soon!
She's not pregnant. They hold the eggs between their legs after laying them :D

I get a big kick out of Kevin and his love for placing bird eggs under that heart-of-gold turkey. That is so special and fun to watch.
I have two Embdem girls. They are awesome. They roam the property all day side by side mumbling to each other. I’m going into year four. Cuddle them so they bond to you all.
Are they like the to two "old lady" geese from Aristocats 😂

It would help if you interacted with the Goslings while they were young. Hold them for a few minutes then put them down. You cuddle them a little bit at a time and they will become your best friends. It's no different than any other pet. The more you interact with them the more they will like you. We would pick ours up every day and cuddle them for a few minutes. Now they love us and follow us around. I think they love us a bit too much though, lol.

I know you've already painted but with the cabin being so small I would highly recommend going with a much lighter color. It would really brighten up the whole space and make it feel much bigger. Great job Kiwi!! The goslings are SO cute!!

The big shrimp you found is a large female, she is "berried," or carrying eggs! Seems like they're doing wonderfully in the pond.

I learned about Cajeta from your channel. When the new local ice cream parlor (run by a local dairy farm) announced they were doing goats milk ice cream "in honor of Dairy Goat Awareness Week" they asked for ice cream flavor suggestions. Although I have never tried Cajeta, I quickly suggested that flavor. It sounds amazing especially after you won first prize and then someone stole your prize winning Cajeta. Well the ice cream parlor announced the goats milk ice cream available this week, Lavender Lemon and Cajeta Swirl. 🙂 Haven't tried it yet but I can't wait!

If the shrimp have what look like little green balls under it their definitely carrying eggs. I used to keep ghost shrimp they were almost clear so it was interesting to see everything and especially when carrying eggs.
I'm glad the shrimp are doing well. Once established, they multiply rapidly! Especially in warmer weather.

I had a pet goose, you have to handle them and love on them. They will get big , but they will get in your lap and hug you with their neck.
If Kiwi will help them be friendly with you.
Next time add chopped up mushrooms, onions, red, yellow and green bell peppers to your sausage and gravy mix to make SOS. Will give a little more veggies to the meal.
For the cabin to add natural light would it be possible to add a skylight? That way you can watch the sky as well

That shrimp is a female and she is carrying her eggs! She will carry them until they are ready to be born! I have shrimp in my aquarium and they are fun to watch!!
Goslings are fun, but BOY do they get loud when they are hungry. I have 10 Brown Chinese geese and they are only 2 months old but already over 2' long and LOUD. I can't imagine how much racket they'll make once they get to full adulthood.

Great floor. Are you hoping for a boy and girl goose? Or doesn't it matter?
For any biscuit don't twist the cutter just press and lift. Twisting seals the edges preventing rising. My mothers method has made my biscuits fluffy.

That's exciting what a fantastic experiment. I love seeing the shrimp there and that last shrimp is pregnant she had a bunch of eggs in her. That's a perfect ecosystem and they're going to have lots of fun eating that algae up. Concrete looks great!!
Plecos are not that great for algae eating. You need to get Siamese Algae Eaters (SAE), Otocinclus, or Amano Shrimp to eat up all the algae. Snails are great too, not sure which kind... I’m not sure how these fish would do in a pond though.😅

How old is Kiwi? I think she's been on the farm for as long as I've been watching you. She's such a good mama. Don't pigs wait for the coldest day of winter to have their piglets? Maybe turkeys love the heat like sows like cold.

I buy gluten powder and add it to whole wheat flour when I want it to rise a bit more. My local grocery store carries it in bulk. A tablespoon or two will fluff up most any bread recipe

It's true! At least it was true with my 2 males Emden geese, they were quiet-ish, friendly, a good guard but not super aggressive. I also had a white Chinese male and while he was beautiful he was LOUD! and super aggressive. His name was "you bastard".

Put some inexpensive copper fittings around the pond to help with the algae growth...helps in my pool
Definitely leave the eggs there if they're all from the same goose it takes them till they have 8+ eggs before they will fully start to lay on them so they will fall behind on the hatching and the mom will leave the bad egg's after a certain amount of time after the first have hatched out trust me when the eggs are bad you'll know right away they will smell even through the shell
