    How is there no sand from grinding the rocks against each other so much? Wouldn't there be bits of the stones in the flour?

    In Biblical times the upper stone was made out of Basalt, which is lightweight allowing for easier turning.

    It was hard to turn at first. How does it suddenly turn smoothly at 1:53?

      when seeds grind top ston plate rotate on seeds . that's why it's rotate smoothly

    How do you make a hole in the stone without breaking it? And must the stick in the lower stone fit perfectly?
