Techlore Can. I ask you a question? At the end of the video, I noticed you various social media plugs. There's dtube, Minds, Discord, and Telegram. I also noticed a lack of Twitter and Facebook, which I can understand due to the topic of your videos. But I'm curious: why is Instagram there? It's it still owned by Facebook, isn't it?
That’s a topic I want to cover in a video, but essentially this channel is created for the purpose of educating the uneducated. I typically get asked why I upload content telling people to delete Google on a Google platform, and it’s because those are the people we need to educate-Google users. Instagram was chosen because there’s a huge amount of people use it, it doesn’t require any genuine information, and it’s the first service offered to keep people up to date. The goal is to move those people to better platforms down the road.
I hope you can also make a video about how to delete Old TH-cam Channel that we don't have any access anymore. I've tried to report it to TH-cam Help but they don't consider to remove the channel.
I’ve given up trying to make people understand the difference. Checkout the “how to delete google video “ I made for a mountainfull of people who ask how I was able to upload the video without a google account. When it was explicitly stated I deleted my personal account with a pinned comment.

I am amazed at the specificity of the data collected by Google, but also surprised by how easy it was to delete and stop collecting. Thanks for the heads up.
@Josh I don't trust them as much as those companies who have easier to understand privacy policies. True, one should probably consider non-Google products. Recently I left the Gmail botnet and have my own email server and have been using ProtonMail as well. But disabling collection will still help if you choose to keep using Google's products.
@microsoft edge One of the main uses of data is to sell things with ads. Maybe people should buy fewer things. Then the value of collecting data would not be as high.

What is even more scary that this information can find anyone with internet access, it's public. No special tools. Now imagine what information someone with knowledge can find about you.
I believe if you are in EU, you can force a company to remove your personal information under GDPR. That is if they don’t provide the delete account facility through normal methods such as your profile.

Any advice for getting away from TH-cam? I have zero qualms with deleting Google entirely, but the one service that keeps me chained to them is TH-cam. Your videos are a prime example of why I still use TH-cam. Also, I have loads of videos I’ve saved to reference in the future (music, this series, etc.) Any advice would be appreciated. Would love to cut the Google cord entirely, but not sure how to do that when TH-cam’s involved.

I know it has been months but i recommend that after you have deleted your google account, make another one with a VPN and fake name. make sure this account is never attached to your true identity or ip. You can use this one with youtube, just don't use it for anything else.

Update for purging accounts - before deleting, use an alias email or relay email that you have control over rather than a temp (publicly available) email generator. The last thing you want is someone gaining access to your account via obtaining that generated email and then requesting (or viewing) changelogs to see your info.
Additionally, if your changelogs were breached, you won’t know as the breach email will be sent to your auto-generated email address which you don’t control.
I think this could be an easy way to expose yourself online - if I’m wrong, I apologise. I’m just extremely sceptical when it comes to this.
Yea i kinda of regret doing that for most of my accounts. the original email used is obviously still stored in the system. and i'd rather have control over the account when deleting rather giving it up to a temporary email that someone could use to recover the account. (but i have no idea what the chances of that happening are)
I'm trying to imagine going ghost online, I'm not going to do it simply because my e-mail is linked to SO many things, not only online but irl as well, it would be very difficult to get rid of it. But going completely ghost would feel like being a criminal and getting a new identity :p

Another tip guys is Google your usernames in "quotation" marks, not just your email/name. I found a pastebin with my username and password for my Steam account that was stolen in 2015 by doing that.
Very helpful. I can't believe that I found 4 lawsuits started against my name that were dismissed almost 10+ years ago and I never, met or heard of those individuals who started the lawsuits. I used to be on television so I don't know if that had something to do with it... and I wasn't even living in San Francisco during the time of the lawsuit. I wish there was a place to go to sue people that have sued you that you have never met, heard of or had any business with. And someone was subleasing the unit to an attorney and my name was still on the lease so maybe I should start there.

Very useful video. Companies usually don't want a user to stop using their services, so account deletion pages are often hidden in a complex web of tabs that you have to navigate.

An online shop account I want to delete doesn't have a specific "delete account" button, so I think I will have to email them and ask for the account to be deleted. Do you think I should falsify the info (name & email are only 2 entered I can change) before contacting them, just to make sure?

Fantastic video again, though I think you're missing something throughout your course, today you mentiond for example that there are people-searching sites, these do not work to my knowledge (I could be wrong) if the person you're looking up lives in Europe. And that is the thing you've been missing to mention, are and do your instructions work/necesary for people that live within the European Union. I had all my Google activities off when I looked them up to give you another example. The reason I mention the EU and not the whole world, is that everything privacy related in the US is either the same or even worse in the rest of the world exept from the European Union and censoractive regions. There are more privacy laws in Europe and they enforce them better, because it doesn't have the same pressure from corporate lobby's as in the US. A tougher question than usual you could say.
Most of the course was created before GDPR was passed. So that's why there is little/no mention of it--it would've been a nightmare re-writing all 55 scripts to include it. I can include it in the next changelog update though.

Woudnt recomend using temp mail for services as the emails on tempemail can be easily accesed without passwords. Would reccomend creating a fake email with a strong pass (random string of numbers and letters and not related to any of your normal/active passwords) that way the email cant be hijacked as it requires a passphrase and if breached the password will only gain access to the dummy email you created.

I would recommend searching google too, because it shows more results. Uncensored Alternatives won't censor your information, but, in this case, might not even find (all of) it.

i have used same password and nickname to minecraft server and then I realised that owner of this small server can be anyone and use dat credentials to login my important services i changed passwords and started using 2FA

In your other video explaining how you deleted Google, you pointed out you used LineageOS on your android device. What would you recommend for someone who is locked to a carrier such a AT&T and T-Mobile who do not allow rooting of devices sold by them? Is maxing out the privacy settings sufficient or is there more i can do?

i made a gmail account a few years back and it got hacked. i was very young so i was ignorant that even if i had personal things on the inbox i didn’t care. now i am trying to recover it but i can’t because i lost the sim card for the recovery number. :( is there a way i can get this gmail account taken down? it is also connected to a youtube channel and the person who owns that youtube channel now is even impersonating to be me. they have my birthdate on the youtube channel and i made the account when i was 9. it also has foul words that a 9 year old at the time shouldn’t know. will reporting it as a minor get the youtube channel taken down? and maybe spamming the email so all the personal things get covered. i regret being introduced to the internet so young. but besides that i have cleared up some of my information online already like my instagram, snapchat, skype and other socials. + a few google searches that include my name.

In many ways it is better to have some online identity than non. Obviously this is a good way to validate your skills and value in the employment market but also taking control of your identity and authenticating it is important for thwarting or detering identity theft. Not having any authentic digital footprint makes someone look extremely suspicious and it will make you unemployable (a non hire) in a wide range of modern occupations in media and the digital sector. A LinkedIn profile is the minimum expectation for most professionals. Also, professionals in law, medicine, education and business are legally mandated to make a lot of personal info publicly available in the UK through various registers and companies house etc.
Agreed some things won’t be as convenient, but I encourage you to watch this talk :
