- This week on Addicted Life we're fishing the Washington Coast for some red tail surf perch. We're also taking the chance to get some clams on a 1 day Washington Coast clam opener! In this episode were doing some surf perch fishing, some razor clam fishing and were meeting up with a few surf perch anglers in the Addicted Community. Rob show us his go-to beach fishing set up for targeting surf perch on the washington, oregon, or california coast! After we have some fun in the surf catching red tail perch, we set our target at some razor clams! We were all able to dig up our razor clamming limits and go home with a future amazing meal! I also like that you guys use gear that is less expensive. I like to spend money on fishing, but being a 13 year old, I cannot afford everything, so having a channel that fishes right in my backyard and someone that recommends less expensive gear is nice.

Tides:
Fish'em!
2 hours before high tide be IN the water. Fish til high tide and take a leisurely lunch...an hour.
Fish for another hour or so.
Hit the clams at low tide.
Repeat!

I love perch fishing. Most people start out fishing on trout. Pile perch was my starter lol. Puget sound has a incredible perch fishery. I love u guys very fun to watch. Marlin it was very good of u to tell people to rinse all the gear and auto off... Rinse well!!! Salt water supper corrosive.

Just a small tip the surf perch have some Wicked spines if you just put them in a mesh bag and hang them by your leg on your waders won't be long until you get a hole in your waders

I usually fish a ways down to the leftt by the big rock. Giant slabs 3 pounders 18 inch plus. incoming tide is the best time to get em.
I loved this video. My fiance and I have been doing a lot more exploring and going after different species of fish in various waters and all of your videos have been a great help with learning and honing our skills. Tomorrow we are headed to Ocean Shores to fish all the way up to Kaloloch for the next couple of days to try our luck at surf perch. This video was great help in deciding some of the items we will be taking with us. Thanks again!!
Follow up! We weren’t successful with surf perch but we scored with razor clams! Had not expected them to be open on these beaches this week so that was a super pleasant surprise!

sand crab and tube worms worked great, my grandfather, some days, couldn't hardly keep his line in the water with that bait set. but it seems like those perch are a lot smaller than the ones we caught..... filled cooler caught, but it's been a while. thanks for hitting my memory button though.

One thing about catching pink Finn specially in the surf it can be fun You can also catch pink fin off the Jedi To That's why I like catching the pink Finn for they are so fun to Catch Them they can't be scrappers you never know you could povey even hook into a striped bass in the surf to

When you dig, aim the clam gun slightly towards the ocean. You'll crack them more if you don't.

Hey I know you guys like to wear your jacket inside your waders but That can be a little dangerous if you fall and your waders full up with water. I would recommend to wear your jacket over your waders with a wading belt and put a surf belt with a surf bag over it in order to keep any waves from going over your waders. Little east coast tip.

Love smashing surf perch and clams! Long Beach is always a blast. Try beards hollow for perch off the rocks. Just be careful of the tide cutting you off from your truck. Watched a few Russians get stranded a few years back.

Love the video. I am planning to move to Western Washington after the new year. After this, I called Penn reels about rehabbing my dad's classic Penn 704Z from the early 1980s. Also may want to use my 9 weight and see if I can catch them on the fly.

Tried Surf Perch fishing a couple times and hit it wrong. We use to fish for Perch at Newport in the Spring but that fishery is gone. I recently got one of those Okuma Rockaway Surf Rods at Fisherman's Marine. I was looking at the 10 or 11 foot. Sales guy told me better to get the 12 so I got it but wondering if that was a mistake. I only want it for Perch.
Would be really interested in meeting up with you guys when your fishing Surf Perch in Oregon. We have fished Cape Lookout several times and nothing. We hit a few other spots too but nothing. I think we hit the wrong part of the tide. We got there on the incoming and a guy told us we were too late.

12' , 10-20lb Okuma Rockaway works very well. Great back bone as well as long casting. It allows less retrieve when 1st fish hooks up, as you wait for second fish in same spot.
I go for surf fishing in Newport Oregon Coast every week in summer, i have many rods 10 to 11' but i still choose to use my 8.6 ugly stick most of the time.

I have two 3 year old boys that I like to get into fishing and clamming. I would recommend that you guys do a video that show kids. Where we parent's get the kids out instead of putting them in front of a TV or video games.
