If God is consciousness, serving God means contributing to the highest form of consciousness through being conscious of that.
That's how I see our purpose of being. To elevate our own consciousness so that mankind may transcend its conscious level so God consciousness may grow as well.

I think this might be a false attribution to the church father. On first reading it seems mildly profound but I think the quote ignores Jesus’s teaching about the greatest commandment: “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Pleasing people RIGHTLY (helping, comforting, etc) may fall into loving your neighbor. At the same time, the quote does have some utility in that we don’t just want to be people pleasers to the detriment of the first commandment. Anyway, I searched and could not find any authoritative source on Chrysostam mentioning this quote. In fact one of the sources mentioned this quote and was pretty sure it was not Chrysostam.

Love your comment, I feel likewise. I am not afraid of death and I know that I will not miss the people I left behind. It is selfish to cry over the people that have left us and God is good. My purpose in life is to please God and spread love so that I can sit on the right side of my Lord when my task is completed.

PREACH. I was stuck and addicted to the self help cycle before Jesus saved me. I thought that I could be whatever I wanted-and “break free from being mediocre”. However, I couldn’t break free from my sins. Self-help doesn’t help if you yourself don’t have innate power and authority that Jesus has. Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess. Demons and principalities are under complete control of Jesus. Faith comes off as weakness, but in our weakness we have strength through Jesus our Lord, who with His spirit, will guide us to everlasting life-the real end goal.

Christianity is STILL the only worldview that is defendable, rationally tenable, answers the 4 questions of origin, MEANING, morality & destiny correspondingly and coherently, addresses love, evil, justice & forgiveness logically all while respecting one's sanctity of life.
Timely & timeless at the same time, God's Word remains the best answer: it’s not about you. It’s not about me. It’s about Him. Finding Him first you will find your purpose.

@@TheFiestyhick Well, two things that come to mind to me. The concept of sin. In an afterlife with no more pain, sadness, or suffering-sin would have to be removed. Which would make me think that we would only be able to enter Heaven, if we are cleansed of that sin. The Bible gives the history of sin, what it caused (separation from God, death) and how it was to be removed from the world, or, how we would be cleansed of it, in order to enter the heaven of the afterlife. And this leads me to the next point-salvation. Life is tragic and short-so a question heavy on the human mind is what happens after we die? The unknown should be worrysome to humans. What’s going to happen to us? the people we love? What do other religions say is the path to eternal life is? Christianity provides full disclosure of EXACTLY what we must do to receive the reward of eternal life. Imagine if you were Jesus being beaten, tortured, and nailed to the cross while being innocent. And your death was going to open the gates of heaven for humanity-and anyone who remembers and honors your death, and places it as the most important thing in the world, in their world-your father would reward them with eternal life for remembering your sacrifice. And they will be with you in your father’s house. And everyone will be a family.
What’s the most important thing on earth? Family, right? It’s such a peaceful and cool feeling to know my Christian brothers and sisters and I will all be a big happy family one day in Heaven and our Father, in His infitine wisdom, will always watch over and protect us. For anyone who has been let down in life by anyone-know this. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8
For anyone who has experienced suffering and tragedy in life, heaven will be free of any sadness and adversity. We are promised new bodies
      2 Corinthians 5 NLT
      New Bodies
5 For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. 2 We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. 3 For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies. 4 While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life. 5 God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit.
6 So we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord. 7 For we live by believing and not by seeing. 8 Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord. 9 So whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please him. 10 For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body.
      We Are God’s Ambassadors
11 Because we understand our fearful responsibility to the Lord, we work hard to persuade others. God knows we are sincere, and I hope you know this, too. 12 Are we commending ourselves to you again? No, we are giving you a reason to be proud of us, so you can answer those who brag about having a spectacular ministry rather than having a sincere heart. 13 If it seems we are crazy, it is to bring glory to God. And if we are in our right minds, it is for your benefit. 14 Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. 15 He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.
16 So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! 17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. 19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

This is so simple but true. Even if you’re not religious, what makes most people happy is being with those they love and love them back. Your spouse, kids, family, friends. And if God is your father, that’s family so spending time with him, and the rest of your biological and/or church family is the only thing that will make you happy and fulfill your purpose.

@@borodel619 well because 2000 years ago the man Jesus Christ claimed to be sent from heaven to reconcile people back to God. The creator of all things. He taught about this God, that he has a will and how we can know him. This same man was crucified for these things and died a terrible death. Then 3 days later rose from the dead which in any sane person's mind would undoubtedly prove that what he was teaching was true. That is why we seek God's will and choose to live by it. You could do the same. Just believe in Jesus Christ and be saved.

Here’s my take: Identity (child of God) and Purpose do not change. The assignment and the season changes. If you have completed one assignment, it is Time for a new season.... Pray for a new assignment to fulfill His/your purpose... which is to love and serve God and make Him known. God answered my prayer but of course it wasn’t what or how I expected. Now I need to change course and pray for my assignment.❤❤❤

Once you are grounded in the truth of God's word then all great things follow. When you put God first He rewards you with understanding and it is liberating being free of all the lies. Jesus said that the truth will set you free. And that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. By putting Him first you know who you are and He helps you to be the best you can. I have always struggled with finances but God has given me true riches. I always count my blessings because there is always others that are worse off. God loves a cheerful heart that is full of gratitude.

I stood up late last night and so did my kids, we all sat in bed together and watched "dont tell mom the babysitter is dead" together, and had sandwiches and chips and soda, and we all felt so happy and appreciated the simple moment and even my kids appreciated it, and said how much fun they were having.
The point of this story is it seems to me that these people dont know how to appreciate there blessings and understand how fortunate they are, mayne they just need to look around and just simply thank God for everything they have and be more appreciative.

  • @BenjaminOglivie911
    @BenjaminOglivie911 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Biblically our purpose has more layers to it.
1st, God's ideal can always be shown in the Garden of Eden, because it was perfect.
In creation, God created man in God's image and also gave him dominion over the earth. To work and keep the garden.
So man's purpose originally was to be in God's pressence and rule and reign with God.
This is also seen in Revelation, in the new heaven and new earth. Man again is there to reign and rule with God.
Also, we are created in God's image - therefore whenever we radiate God's image, by being sanctified in the image of his Son, we are also fulfilling our purpose. In other words, when we behave like children of God - with the Holy Spirit, loving God, loving others - showing God's character inside of us THEN we are also fulfilling our purpose.
Lastly, which the video was mostly about - we have a mission now that the world is a fallen world, which is to make disciples, this is a reconciliation and trying to return to the Garden of Eden. And as we become like Christ, our purpose is in helping the lost return to God's original design described above (rule/reign with God, behave in the image of God / as children of God, have dominion over the earth, work and keep the garden)... we are truly designed to work and make things better, create, organize, etc... Just like God did with the earth before he gave it to us.
So yes, I would say the video is correct but also there are many facets to our purpose - most of which can be seen in the Garden of Eden.
