Really like this video. Thanks for the downtown tour. I recently moved to the valley and took a walk downtown on a Sunday morning at 11AM. It was over 105F and, naturally, very few souls walking around. I know in cooler weather and weekends there must be a lot more people out. I grew up in NYC and am used to high density urban environments. I like that Phoenix is low density, but there is so much new development and infrastructure that it feels like we're in the beginning of a new age of Phoenix coming into its own. The city is growing and growing fast. In the years ahead it will eventually have thousands of pedestrians out and about downtown outside of sports events.
I used to work at Az Republic for 7 years. I loved walking around on my lunch break downtown. I love this area! Also going to concerts and eating out and going to the movies. Tons to do!
I live right near Phoenix, and I don't like driving down there sometimes, because it gets really crazy down there with Drivers. I only drive to Phoenix if I go to a game down there, or pick up/drop off .y dad at his job in Downtown
This is our downtown in Phoenix Arizona part of it is beautiful with tall buildings and the other part is not it's really not too bad downtown I have not been here for a long time since I move to Arizona I live far away from downtown Phoenix
im realizing i dont like the idea of cities. Id like a well developed suburbia. Lots of things to do, resturants etc, but in form factor of a nice looking suburban area. Seems like the only benefits to cities are a few decent spots and thats it anyways.
Yeah I was laughing, in this video you can see a few people who's job it is to stop people on the street and talk to them, but they were the only ones out there
Not so desolate. Not sure where you’re getting that from. No more desolate than downtown San Diego, or Downtown LA. Now if you’re comparing it to Seattle, Chicago, or NYC, then yeah of course. But plenty happens downtown. It’s just that in the summertime, everyone tries to stay indoors. It’s no different than people staying indoors during a really frigid winter in Chicago.
@@Tryptoslave I’ve traveled and been to LA and while LA is not the most active downtown at night, it actually has a pretty LIVE scene during the day. Seattle Chicago, or NYC? 😂. It needs to get on El Paso TX level first. (Ok not that bad, but you get my point)
First of all, the entire Phoenix metro area is NOT pedestrian and never has been. Millions of people live there, but you don’t see people walking the streets in large numbers anywhere; it’s not designed that way. Historically, (although it’s better than it used to be) nobody goes downtown unless it’s for some kind of an event, concert, game, or work and then they leave when it’s over. There are many other areas of the Valley that people frequent socially for dining, shopping, etc. BUT they drive there and park.
I promise you, Downtown Phoenix is much more lively from the months of October to April. In the Summer, not only is is blazing hot, but ASU downtown is on its summer break. Yes, I will admit that downtown Phoenix is very “event oriented”, unlike some other downtowns in the US, let me tell you, as someone who grew up here through the 80’s and 90’s, its gotten exponentially better. And it keeps getting better as time goes on.

Phoenix combines big city lights and calmness.
Wow! I would've never thought Phoenix as a mini Manhattan!

Thanks for the tour. I try to avoid downtown PHX as much as possible.

🇲🇽🇺🇸 saludos a mi mamá y hermanos y a mis sobrinos américanos
Sorry I Iived in Arizona, and absolutely loved it, but even El Paso has a better downtown. I still love you Arizona!!!
looks clean but its also sterile. Lots of buildings but idk, I would still feel like im living somewhere kinda empty.
Doesn't seem like a ton of people live downtown. You would probably live in the suburbs in a beige house with a yard full of rocks. Desert life baby
And scorpions in your bed 🦂

Very colorful and clean downtown but very desolate

I live here and hate downtown. Too much concrete and not enough vegetation. Not quaint.
