      I came to the same conclusion a while back. Looked at Sonos ended up with Yammy MusicCast. Looked at a Honda Forza, got a Yammy Xmax. Looked at a Strat, got a Yammy Pacifica. Yamaha just make quality stuff across the board at decent prices. THR will be next!

      @@gooble69 One lovely aspect of the THR10 models is that you can always find very good sounding settings that still make you 'work' for the tone and flow, just like you would on a valve amp.

    Best trick with these THR amps is to find more tone variations with delay hi cut knob in Yamaha THR Editor. It's like you could change the mic and it's position in front of the amp. Yamaha THR Editor has an easy to use interface but you must always remember to save the tone to library and then save the library file also. That's hard to remember.

    I‘ve had the THR10 and the 10C. I prefer the 10C. Don’t be fooled into thinking you can’t get a good distorted rock sound from the 10c. You absolutely can especially if you go into the editor. The clean sounds with tape echo and reverb on the 10c are fantastic.

      10C is great.Love it.Have two of them,I put overdrive or distortion pedals,before it and reverb amd delay pedals ,after it using a stereo split cable from the headphone output then straight into pedals and interface.Record direct trough the USB port, or mic it for room ambience,it has all the recording options I need.

    The small one looks like a thr5. The thr10 should be the same size as the 10c - according to what I've seen. I have the 10c and it's great, but I agree with your criticisms of it. Wasted slots. Very little option in terms of gain. So kind of disappointing there. The software is neat but a pain to use and still doesn't get enough gain/crunch.
    Thanks for the review - and thanks also for all your videos!

    • @andreil1234
      @andreil1234 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well that's why I went for the THR10x. Lowering the gain settings with low to medium (even slightly hot) humbuckers on the high gain models results in a diversity of voicings for the clean stuff. Best thing yet, if you have proper taper pots and maybe some treble boost to boot, you can even do it with the gain past 12 o'clock by just rolling off the volume knob on the guitar :)

    • @user-uc5sn4tp3f
      @user-uc5sn4tp3f 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In its defense, the C isn't supposed to have heavy gain . It's specialized for Clean to light OD .
      If you wanted a variety of high gain amp models , the ( also now discontinued) X model was for you .

      Did you choose?
      I must say Yamaha did a great job at the product but in helping the customer to choose...
      I play from "The war on drugs" Clean dreamy sounds to "Tool" metal gainy sounds... But I really liked the way the Thr10C sounds...
      To get the most out of the dreamy sounds you'd say C, but to get the gain for Tool... you'd say normal 10...

    • @user-uc5sn4tp3f
      @user-uc5sn4tp3f 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes . The Original ( no suffix) are more " versatile " , in that they do a little of everything. It's subjective if that's a good thing for you.
      If you actually play * every genre * , and they are of equal priority for you , then the Original ( no suffix) or the current is will be good for you.
      If you primarily play clean , then the C will give you multiple options . ( Presumably same with the X for metal, but not my wheelhouse ) .

    One of yamaha's selling point on the C model is that the channels stay clean longer so you can get a wider range of slightly dirty tones, wich I like.
    Anyone here knows if the original version really gets gainy a bit too.quickly.for low-medium gain players? Thanks in advance!

    • @Hoodrio

      That's one of the reasons I went with the 10 C, which as you can tell from the review I regretted. I actually think the clean tones as well as the range of tones are better on the original and stay just as clean loud.

    Quick question Hoodrio? Do you know if you can you put the "PHONES" headphones 1/4 inch jack output into a MONO speaker cabinet (8" 10" 12" 15") for a little more punch? 8 Ohm 4 Ohm 16 Ohm Impedance might be an issue and if the output jack is in stereo (3 wires) can you just tie the wires from the left and right channels into the tip of the speaker cab connector and keep the ground wires matched? I feel like I watched a video of yours a while back where you mentioned you were playing with the THR5 through a speaker.

    • @alfatone2654

      @100 Alright, thanks for the "feedback". I just go the little THR5 used on the weekend. So I will follow your advise. Merci beaucoups.

    • @alfatone2654
      @alfatone2654 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK, I sorted something out using a stereo splitter cable in the headphone jack from 1 stereo 1/4 inch output to 2 mono 1/4 connectors. Then I built a "Y" input in a metal pedal box enclosure soldering two 47 K Ohm resistors from the left and right "hot" signal channels into a single mono output channel, which I feed into my Fender amp with the bigger speaker. All the re amplified modeled sounds from the THR5 now come through much louder through the Fender amp.
