Bill Mumy was a kid like me in the 1960s, just a little older. Fantastic actor when you consider how young he was. Humble and sincere guy. With all the volatility of the entertainment industry, he has managed to have a long and happy career.
I'm a big Bill Mumy fan, it's great to see him get recognized for his lifetime of work. You're right, his interviews are well worth checking out. He has a lot of good stories.
That man has had a great career. I’ve enjoyed his work over my lifetime and I still do from the Twilight Zone, Lost in Space to Babylon 5. It’s also great to see a child actor grow up to be normal and healthy. Bravo Zulu Bill Mumy.
I remember watching Lost in Space as a little boy in the 1960's, and thinking that Telly (TV) was 2 way street, and I thought how boring it must of been for the people watching us in our little mining village; from Dr Who/Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea/Skippy/Flipper/Champion the Wonder Horse/Casey Jones/ High Chaparral land(s)
I do remember Bill Mumy in vast number of tv shows over years. But, I was bit shocked see him as child playing with realistic toy guns in Commercials. I just loved his story about Director A.Hitchcock whispering to him be still on lighting mark or he would nail his feet to floor.😃😆😂
Great presentation! I had a big event in my life intertwined with Bill Mumy and his portrayals as an actor, unbeknownst to him. In 1962 a 9 year old friend and I went exploring on our bikes. We were hit by a 1951 Chevy panel truck .I hit the truck and the truck hit him. His injuries put him first in line in the emergency room and I listened as the struggle to save him failed. My little friend had a very strong resemblance to Bill Mumy. Bill seemed to be on the TV all of the time. I liked Bill, however many times I would be watching TV with others and would go through the same feelings of loss, guilt and sadness for a few moments each time. When I first viewed this video, they showed right up . My life long secret is revealed.............
This video was, how shall we say it, top fucking notch!!! So many times I’d be watching something and think “Wait, do I know that guy?” And now I know! Keep up the good work, Johnny!
As a kid from the Sixties, Mumy seemed to appear almost in everything on TV. He was a boy that was easy to identify with, which was what obviously made him so popular back then. Looking back at his body of work, I don't think he got the plaudits he rightly deserved. Easily the best child actor of his generation. I never realised he was in "Papillon" with Steve McQueen and Hoffman until recently, and I even saw that movie in the theatre.
Billy is a MASSIVE talent! Ironically, a kind of mirror to Mark Hamil! Nice to see they actually DID work together! Would have liked to have seen them both in some fun scifi adventure show! I think those 2 would have GREAT chemistry as they had similar careers & experience as child actors, crossing over to adult roles! You however, MISSED his role as prison 'bitch' in Papillon, with Steve McQueen!
Awesome first episode. For the record, everyone, if you have not see the Twilight Zone episode "It's Still a Good Life", you must. It's a worthy follow-up to the original and in many ways more creepy
Another Great job Jonny , I met Bill several times in the mid 90s in the U S originally ay the LIS 25th anniversary con then most recently in 2015 @ the 50th anniversary a great talent but better man cheers my fellow LIS alumni
Really cool person. Reminds me, personality-wise, of Mark Hamill sometimes. He's also good with impressions like Hamill is. And they both are good cartoon voice artists. Re: recent appearances Glad you mentioned it because I was delightfully amused to see Mumy show up briefly on season one of the fun Netflix revamp of "Lost in Space", as the real Zachary Smith (whose identity is suddenly taken by a desperate character). It was cool that this series reboot included cameos by him, and also Angela Cartwright in a flashback sequence. I didn't know it was her until after the episode ended. I remember that Bill was in an episode of "The Munsters" ... playing a rude, precocious pal of Eddie's. I believe there was a chimp involved in that story. It was called "Come Back, Little Googie". th.bing.com/th/id/OIP.Lag3xR8nRRLuZ9E---Sd6QHaFj?pid=Api&rs=1 No doubt this guy was a brilliant child star of 1960's television. Just watch him in "Bewitched", playing Darrin Stephens when he was transformed physically into a little boy in "Junior Executive" (S2/E10), he's terrific as a kid with a grown man's brain.
i really like bill mummys music they are awsome and he is a awsome talented actor and iam a big fan of his i wish i could get to meet him in person but that wont happen but lest i can watch all the lost in space seris on dvd and his awsome music videos on you tube
I still love "it's a good day" from the twilight zone. But I do have to admit that the Joe Dante's version was truely excellent aswell. Excellent work as usual, keep continue.
I started watching Lost In Space last year as I bought the box set. It's a bit of a chore to watch at times and I know its mostly about Will, Doctor Smith and the Robot. But Angela Cartwright is the main draw card for me.
At 1:57 we see Billy Mumy pointing his finger and about to say : " You're a bad man. You're a very bad man " in the Twilight Zone episode called " It's a Good Life "
The Twilight Zone Episode "It's a Good Life" is Based on a Short Story entitled "Night and Day",How do I know this? Because I had to read it in High School!!!!!!
@JonnyBaak have you ever watched the 1985 CBS TV show called "Otherworld"? It only lasted 8 episodes, but for some reason remains in my memory to this day. Anyone can watch the 1st episode, complete with commercials here: th-cam.com/video/hfsPmVunuTo/w-d-xo.html
My brother Tim looked exactly like Bill, you could hold up pictures of them side by side and swear it was the same person. People often told him "You look like that kid from the Twilight Zone."
Nothing really nefarious about access tunnels for power lines and water pipes. Although I'm sure people use them for the occasional make out place or to smoke a joint, or just to take an unscheduled break. The bad shit that you are alluding to happens more in the open where they can have an innocent excuse for being with a victim. Like in offices, hotel rooms, homes, at parties, or backstage at the Miss Teen USA pageant.
TH-cam is slow when the views fly in fast, it happens all the time for the successful videos, after a few days everything is balanced out for the view count and everything else.
Sorry Billy, your first TV show should have been called the Dr. Smith show. What started out good died a quick death with Smith the real star. Just embarrassing. Can't comment on your second show.

· I loved Billy Mumy
Lost in Space was and still is my favourite TV show.
I liked Lost in Space a lot more than Star Trek.(There! I've said it!)
I was 8 or 9 and when I saw Billy Mumy on Lost in Space, I thought he was the coolest kid in the world (or off of it)
Being able to handle the fame of childhood stardom, without going off the deep end with excess, is a rarity inside Hollywood
Had a GOOD family behind him! That helps! They kept him grounded!
I never knew that much about him apart from lost in space but apart from being extremely talented, he seems like a thoroughly decent guy too
Sounds like a good Hollywood life unlike many others.
I can so relate - I was a kid of the 60's ....born in 60 ....Loved LOST in Space !
I do remember Bill Mumy in vast number of tv shows over years. But, I was bit shocked see him as child playing with realistic toy guns in Commercials. I just loved his story about Director A.Hitchcock whispering to him be still on lighting mark or he would nail his feet to floor.😃😆😂
can we ever really forget "fish heads" !!
Yeah, you'd think the video would have included at least a passing mention of Mumy's work in Barnes and Barnes.
He was also in one of my favorite coming of age flics, 'Bless the Beasts & the Children'!
He's still the kid he was in "Lost in Space". What a guy,
I grew up on Babylon 5 so Bill is no stranger to me, I only heard about his child acting. Thanks for the video!
Great presentation!

Great video, Jonny, I learned a lot in this one, I had no idea he was such a prolific artist in so many varied ways.
The luckiest kid actor ever!
As far as Lost in Space is concerned, Bill Mumy was THE STAR!!!
-along with Jonathan Harris(Dr.Smith) and Bob May & Dick Tuffeld(the robot).
I'd love to read the script Bill Mumy wrote that Irwin Allen turned down.
Fantastic video. Great look at the wonderful Bill Mumy! One of my favourite actors.
Nice to see showbiz didn't mess him up...

He was! Played the 'bitch' the prison's 'rent a girl friend'!
That was great. very well done. Mumy has always served my favorite genres. I will always be a fan.
Billy M, Hitch did not favor little boys, He was far more tolerant of little girls, but then, he tortured them too..

he was in the munsters and was a real brat in that episode.

Such a great and talented man.

Another great video. The nostalgia is strong with this one.
Bill worked with some of the great actors and actresses in the industry!
What ARE you talking about? He WAS 1 OF them!
I started watching Lost In Space last year as I bought the box set. It's a bit of a chore to watch at times and I know its mostly about Will, Doctor Smith and the Robot. But Angela Cartwright is the main draw card for me.

Just found your wonderful channel!!! Love it. subscribed! Thank you 😊 💓
Lost in space AND Babylon 5, yeah he's pretty much my favorite guy in the universe.
As adult I think Mumy's most memorable role was Lenner, the Minbari character on Babylon V tv series.
Lost in space ,Babylon 5 Great shows they were 👍
The Twilight Zone Episode "It's a Good Life" is Based on a Short Story entitled "Night and Day",How do I know this? Because I had to read it in High School!!!!!!
these were great
Great documentary! I was shocked--and then not so shocked--that Alfred Hitchcock threatened the poor kid.
Remembered him in Papillon
is that a young Kurt Russell at 12:10?
In some of those photos with glasses he looks like John Denver.
the birds great film

THAT, in itself, was a Twilight Zone comment!
Those were some awesome Dick Tracy guns...frighteningly realistic.
Review When Time Ran Out 1980
Comet Man would make a fine film. It was written by Mumy and Miguel Ferrer.
Been Watching lost in space my whole life
There’s Actually an episode on my TV right now while I’m watching TH-cam on iPad 🤣
Anthony Freemont was the Original Franklin Richards !
Could you still review Roger Corman's Forbidden World aka Mutant 1982??? I would appreciate It, Thanks!!!!
like him on Babylon 5

@11:52 "Labrynth of tunnel systems , huh? Wonder what those were used for ? #savethechildren

It's Mummy and I don't care what anyone says I like it better. Lol
Woah.....kid using guns, we will never see them now aday.
You were a CUTE kid! ;oP
Jonny, if this had no views before I clicked it, who gave it the first like? Just asking. I'll give it the second.
TH-cam is slow when the views fly in fast, it happens all the time for the successful videos, after a few days everything is balanced out for the view count and everything else.
Ah the good old B&W crap TVs 🙃
You skipped over Bill's movie " Bless the Beasts and Children"!!!!!!
The speaker in this video pronounced the name Mumy incorrectly. Just saying
