Greenglass House, The Vanderbeekers of 141st St, and like Ruby said, a Christmas Carol and The Nutcracker are my favourites as well. I also read The Country Child every year in December. It's not a Christmas book, but I read up to the 2 Christmas chapters and then I save those to read on Dec 24 and Dec 25.

Good luck! You got this! Remember to let yourself rest, heat healthy foods( if you're not allergic, various types of nuts and cashews make great snacks! As do bananas!). Don't stress too much much drink lots of water or Gatorade (but not too much) also remember to get up and move around every 30 minutes or so. Do some walking or light stretches, take a restroom break, listen to different music than when studying (of that's what you do!) Best of wishes on the tests!

Hello Ruby, I think a lot of people are trying to finish their reading goals for the year, I was wondering if you could maybe do a video about short classics or other short books :) Love your videos as always !!
Hi Ruby! just wanted to leave a comment to let you know how much I appreciate your channel, your videos are so comforting and help with my anxiety as well as inspire myself and so many people.
These are my favourite videos of yours, Ruby! I have rewatched all of them so many times because they bring me so much joy and comfort. Please do another one sometime!
I was perusing through the comments and there's so many hateful ones! I don't understand people's need to take time from their life and do something like this. This vlog was a delight, it made me want to spend more time reading and it felt super cozy 🤎

I really needed this video today. It's finals week and I'm dealing with crippling anxiety over waiting to hear back from all the Russell Group unis I applied to. You've inspired me to do a readathon after finals and take care of myself a bit. Happy Christmas Ruby and everyone!
It’s so funny you read about the boy-bishop ceremony- I work at York Minster (choral scholar in the choir) and this past Sunday they reinstated it (as have several cathedrals I think!), except they renamed it as the chorister bishop ceremony as one of our girl choristers got the chance to do it this year. The service is on the York Minster TH-cam- it was a fascinating ceremony to be a part of! Lovely video as always Ruby 🥰
I just have one day a week free from studying but i think i am gonna do this either this Saturday or next. I still have a few books i need to get through before the end of the year. Thank you so much for such lovely videos.
A Christmas Memory is one of my favorite stories of all time. Really enjoyed the video as always! I can't wait for Christmas to arrive this year too haha take care Ruby🌲🌟
Hi Ruby! Thanks for sharing the history about how workers were expected to give gifts to their patrons back in the day. Does the book include when and why this change happened and gift-giving become more centered on giving to those with less? Love the vlog:)
Speaking of Bird and Blend, I'm so glad you included Irish Cream in your recommendations on their website. I never would've tried it just based on the description, and it's currently my favorite, tied with Oxford Comma. (Candlelit Library is a close #3!)
12:42 This is so interesting and reminds me of the concept of the Literary Carnival. I just finished a dissertation on Travers' Mary Poppins where I discussed her use of this one day/night of topsy-turvy celebration to elicit a sense of autonomous power for the children (among many other philosophical ideas!). The whole while, I was siding with the children. Interesting to think that from another perspective, one could read it that they were being subconsciously controlled rather than liberated, like servants to kings!
i love your readathons!they are one of my favourite videos and this has now inspired me to to do a readathon this weekend!which now i cant wait for as i have been less productive recently!thank you for posting and making people happy!
It’s amazing that you are able to read so many books in one day! The fastest I read was one book in two days! I’ve been trying to increase my reading speed because there are so many books I want to read, and I think reading too slowly makes my thoughts wander more. Do you have any tips or advice for people who are trying to increase their reading speed?
Hey Ruby, I’ve got a little question. How fast do you read? I’ve started excessively reading about two years ago but I feel like I had no progress. I read about 20 pages an hour and sometimes it puts me off it because I’m too slow. I do know I should just enjoy more and stop worrying though, try not to stress about reaching a goal or something. Thank you for inspiring me in so many ways. I wish you a merry Christmas ❤
I wondered the same thing. I think she reads incredibly fast, 800 WPM, perhaps. The average person reads about 300 WPM. I’m a slow reader as well; I take a lot of time to think about & absorb what I’m reading. Ruby must have quick comprehension skills as well. But I DO very much wish she’d slow down when she reads aloud to us, especially poems. Cheers! 🎄

I love your jumper ! I was wondering how fast do you read? And what advice would you have for someone who gets distracted easily or has a busy mind ? - I tend to start mutiple books at once, never finishing any :")
I'm not Ruby, but I'd suggest learning how to be present in the moment. To quieten your mind and become truly conscious. There are lots of good books/videos/podcasts/apps out there. Look around for some that resonate with you. Switching off your phone for a couple of hours or a whole day can help quieten the mind, even better if you can get out and walk in nature for 30 mins or so and just stand/sit and be aware of your surroundings, the beauty, sounds, smells etc without labelling them in your mind.❤️
How do you managed to read soo many books in one day? Reading relaxes me too much and makes me sleepy, even during the day, so have to keep, stopping. You must be a fast reader 😂 but good for you. As I’m watching this after Christmas, maybe good books to buy for this Christmas 🎄 x
This was like 10 minutes longer than it had to be 😭 so many times you stopped to waffle for ages, like that one segment about the book you didn’t like where you said “spirit of christmas” about 10 times in a minute!!! Loved the shots of nature however (was that a drone shot?!)
This is really useful feedback :) I've been told that people prefer longer videos with some chatty segments - but I personally prefer not including sections like that so I can stick to shorter videos in furture :) x
@@RubyGranger8 ty for responding! I think chatty segments could work, just would help if they had more of a concise direction rather than you looping endlessly on a single point. Hope there are more festive videos soon
@@RubyGranger8 I've just started Mr Dickens and his Carol by Samantha Silva and I can't wait to get back to it tonight! After that I'd like to read Why Was the Partridge in the Pear Tree by Mark Lawson-Jones and The Horologicon (I loved your review of this one).
Oh, I've always loved Christie's Christmas by Isabella Alden ("Pansy"). That first one you read has me intrigued, though. Going to have to go find that title and snag a copy.
What always stops me from reading many hours for pleasure is guilt, guilt that I should be doing something else. Ever since I got out of college and started working very little, I feel like I should have a steady job like everyone else and earn enough to support myself and even though I have the privilege of not needing to work right away, I still feel guilty. Has something similar happened to you? I feel that I waste my time doing things for "fun" and in the end I end up not doing what I think I "should" nor what I "want to do".
this is such a beautiful video, Ruby! I'm curious, do you find your novel writing tone to change based on the book you read last? For me, when I read something I love, I find my writing to morph into a combination of me and the author, and it's almost frustrating because I feel like I'm plagiarising?
all of us readers will have at some point thought, with disappointment and a little bit of grief, that we'll never be able to finish reading all the books that we want to read and interests us on this earth. maybe the only way to ever come close to that dream is to have these readathons everyday
I've been in a reading slump lately, you got me excited about reading again, thank you ruby💜. I've been meaning to ask you of the song you used in the video chapter " a country walk in the mist"? Thank you very much. Happy holiday.
I'm so in love with Ruby, her channel is a wonderful find for me, but I feel the lack of such content. can you recommend me channels with similar vibe?
I adore your videos, and you, but this is something that i do not like. I am a literature professor (i am from Bosnia, so pardon my mistakes) and i do not think reading this many books is a real reading. You, or persons like you, are just runing through books, trying to get to some big numbers. There is no pure joy in reading those books. Books take time, to reflect, to enjoy them...This is not healthy way to enjoy books. Well, that is my personal but also professional opinion. I do would love to see more of book videos, your recomendations and thoughts on your favorite books.
Depends on the book/books don't you think? Not every book is a literary masterpiece that requires reflection, nor is it necessarily saying something profound. Books are there to be read and enjoyed, surely? Encouraging more people to read by making books accessible to all is a good thing. I would say that any view given in a public forum is personal and also relevant - "professional" or otherwise. Many of us have literary backgrounds but I don't believe we need to be stuffy about books and how they're read - especially at Christmas. 🌲 🌟
@@lellymills I agree with you too 😊 But as I already said somewhere here above in the comments, why do we have to set a goal for how much we read in whatever how many hours/days/in a year? Why does that even matter? It would lead to stress to me at least and pressure, because I’m constantly thinking of that I should be reading this amount of books/read this fast… I just don’t see the matter in it. Reading and writing is for amusement, relaxing and to learn new things, not to set some planning to. I would enjoy it less then.
I don’t think we get to decide that for other people. A book is a personal experience, no one can tell you where to rush or when to linger. If you read a “comfort” book seasonally, especially non-fiction, it’s lovely because you know it already. There’s nothing to sit and ponder afterwards that’s rather the whole point.
Maybe just try it both ways and see which you prefer. I think there are "rules" for both ways, a bit like the argument about scones (jam or cream first), or even the "correct" way to hang a loo roll. Madness! 😆 Your beverage, your choice. 😁
Everyone give me their favourite christmas book recs ❤ i want to read loads this holiday

I'm so in love with Ruby, her channel is a wonderful find for me, but I feel the lack of such content. can you recommend me channels with similar vibe?
Darling Desi or Morgan Long 😊
Emmie too
does anyone know where that blue jumper is from?
I adore your videos, and you, but this is something that i do not like. I am a literature professor (i am from Bosnia, so pardon my mistakes) and i do not think reading this many books is a real reading. You, or persons like you, are just runing through books, trying to get to some big numbers. There is no pure joy in reading those books. Books take time, to reflect, to enjoy them...This is not healthy way to enjoy books.
Well, that is my personal but also professional opinion.
I do would love to see more of book videos, your recomendations and thoughts on your favorite books.
This 🙏
Depends on the book/books don't you think?
@@bethmcmullan7686 yeah I feel like that too
I don’t think we get to decide that for other people. A book is a personal experience, no one can tell you where to rush or when to linger. If you read a “comfort” book seasonally, especially non-fiction, it’s lovely because you know it already. There’s nothing to sit and ponder afterwards that’s rather the whole point.
Good job again, Roob' 👍👍👍
First 🥇🥇🥇!!!!!
Btw I would love a video recommending your fav Christmas music because I love your taste in music 🎶

Wondering… Should you put cream in your tea bfore or after you pour in the hot water? Is that a tradition?
I always do it after :)
Maybe just try it both ways and see which you prefer. I think there are "rules" for both ways, a bit like the argument about scones (jam or cream first), or even the "correct" way to hang a loo roll. Madness! 😆 Your beverage, your choice. 😁
Some put it in first so you don’t have to stir it. I put it in after to gauge how much I want to add by looking at the color etc.
I think letting the tea brew in hot water first makes more sense, then add milk or sugar according to how brewed it has become
