I'm very into these types of things. However, where I'm from not many people know about it so when you talk about it everyone will sort of look at you like "What are you talking about" It's really cool that in Korea it's so trendy! It sounds really fun being able to discuss that!
This was super interesting. I'd noticed in a lot of the Korean content I've watched that MBTI was coming up a lot (and in older videos, people mentioned the blood type personality thing too!) so it was clearly a popular thing in Korea, I didn't realise how popular though. I had heard of it before, I remember doing a test as part of a work team training day years ago (I think I came out as either INFP or ISFP?) but I wouldn't say it's at all popular in the UK. If anything, the thing some people still put weight on is the western zodiac, but even then the people super deep into it are much fewer. Personally I didn't like putting that much weight into personality tests just because they always made it seem so definitive... "You *are* this and this means you are all these things etc etc", like it was an unchanging fact about you and came with all this baggage about what it said about you. But I've also noticed a lot of Koreans talking about MBTI also talk about how theirs have changed over time, I remember someone saying they'd changed from I to E. And I like that approach more, because people do change and the idea that it can change and it's not some set in stone fact about you is way less pressure. And then use it as a guide or some possible advice for how you might navigate the world around you and improve yourself. As long as it doesn't dominate your life and dictate your every action or interaction with others (like the stereotyping stuff you mentioned!) Very interesting to think about though!
I think in England, small talk is just asking about someone's job or their family or something like that.

That was great! MBTI is also very popular in China these days. Perhaps you could do a video talking about bouldering (indoor rock climbing) and why it’s so popular among young people?😊🧗
I usually learn TTMIK lessons from your soundcloud account and it helps me a lot, but now I cant find the files anymore :( why you deleted the files? 😢
i did that mbti test before and i saw the results are the same with Jungkook Mbti type kkkk it was INTP. By the way, it's really interesting how mbti test much popular in Korea.. its interesting
It was really popular from grades ~7-12 but most people didn’t remember their results and had to look them up if you asked. It’s kind of Niche. You use the results like a pick(yup)-line 😅💼; it is a good entry way into a new friendship (친구 maybe…👩🏽🔬). You’re literally Ino (of Naruto) using “the mindtransfer jutsu”😅. BUT, you always have to maintain an air of skepticism. STEAM is well funded (and real). Using MBTI in 2024 (I’m 23) is like the song “La javanaise” covered by L.E.J. ….MBTI could mean 1 of 2 things…🎃. I’m from Atlanta, GA. ❤️ note: yup is yuppie (your yuck or yum 😂) 9:20 . Here People typically refer to the way people look (dress or social position) to start small talk. The symbols you wear are never black and white so asking how someone feels about the day’s weather or season provides a metaphor to use as a good entry point into small talk (related to their appearance). Vouge! 🤠 15:30 .
yeah MB is popular within companies because they are a private company that made up a test and marketed it to companies. The only portion that slightly resembles any psychological science is the first metric, extroversion/introversion. Otherwise it is not founded on psychology.
@@tatjana7008 but it isn't - it's more pseudoscience based off 'interpreting' Carl Jung. Don't get me wrong, it's fun and might be close to what your 'personality' is at a point in time, but MBTI is not scientific
Oddly, no-one talks about where they take the test. I've read that only the "original" MBTI test is the real deal, not the ones that are offered for free. It is said you might come to a different result. And the original test costs around $60. So does everyone pay that money to get their MBTI? :)
Some companies will sponsor the test for you if it's part of their training/orientation. I was fortunate enough to take the real one on the actual website. I don't think the free ones are too far off though (depending on which one)
Its not popular in Germany, because people are not interested in intrapersonal intelligence here. Although its might be superficial in Korea, its huge plus that people are interested in learning about themselfes, what is not practiced here. Many issues arise from this and I hope intrapersonal intelligence will be equalised here to interpersonal one (EQ) as soon as possible
MBTI is not scientific, it's a fact. However, for more than 5 years, it has been reliable to me to improve myself and my relationships with other people. It's not popular in my country and a lot of people are not even willing to take a test. I can only use it to my benefit because I understand mbti and take the time to get to know people. Many people actually get mistyped, so I don't think is either fun or that useful to people to introduce their types like that. I like that it's a popular topic in Korea, on the other hand, I disliked how it actually is a small talk. I don't see people talking about cognitive functions ever. Can somebody try to guest my mbti by my comment? 🤭
Honestly, I've never heard Koreans talk about anything other than small talk even with each other. It makes me wonder on the depth of Koreans in general as a society. No offense 😅
because its ambivert + high context culture country. Less talking more doing and opening up only to close people. I get more than small talk, but its because I'm Korean and they feel more comfortable with me
I was pretty sure that Yeji is actually ENTJ. But nevertheless MBTI, socionics and other personality type things are just non-scientific trash. Which of course makes them only more popular 😂
